I booked this condo for a getaway vacation with my husband and dog while I worked in Hilton Head. The pictures of the condo unit itself were accurate. The inside of the condo unit itself seemed clean but there was a weird air freshener scent to the bedroom blanket.
What you need to know, and what wasn't described in the listing, is that this is a recently former assisted living facility. The building and common areas smelled bad, were dingy, and obviously not renovated since it was an assisted living facility. The elevator was dirty and smelled bad, and stopped working when we were there. The elevator was obviously an assisted living elevator, with slow-closing doors and a large bench.
In the bathroom of the condo unit was an emergency pull alarm. The doorway to the bedroom was huge ... obviously once so wheelchairs could easily fit through.
Both of my parents died in nursing homes from advanced stages of ALZ. This condo absolutely horrified me. I would never have chosen it if I had known it was a former assisted living facility.
Basically you will be renting a room in a former assisted living facility.
The only thing good about this place was that it was close to where I worked that weekend.
