Started our wedding week off with a stay here at Shirleys. Great host, quick to reply. The home was huge and beautiful. Perfect for multiple families!
I would stay here again
Located in a quiet neighborhood, convenient to shopping. Unusual floor plan on 3 levels. Ample accommodations for 7 adults, 3 kids, and could have handled more. Lots of bonuses: hot tub, ping pong table, washer/dryer, well-appointed kitchen, children's playroom. Host was helpful and easy to contact.
The process from beginning to end was perfect! The communication with our host, Shirley, was unbelievable. I actually feel like she is a close friend after all of the communication we had with her! She definitely went over and above to make sure our stay was perfect! The location and the layout of the home suit our family well. The kitchen was stocked very well and met all of our needs. We even left a few things behind and Shirley sent pictures and said she would mail them to us. What a gem! All in all this was an amazing experience in a beautiful state!
it was great. We had twelve people range in age 3-71 from three different families. Plus lots of other family over everyday.
House was plenty big with more than enough sleeping space and lots of toys, ping pong table and electronics for teens.
Beautiful deck, Owner was great! She had bear spray and off ready if needed and brought us tables and chairs for the reception at the house.
House was well equipped with everything needed.
Thank you to Shirely

About the host
Hosted by Shirley Sakaye
This is our fourth summer hosting guests at our home! We’ve learned so much and really enjoy helping visitors unlock the beauty and fun Alaska’s adventures can be. Last summer we encountered several groups that damaged our home-no fun. We have decided to trust in the overall goodness of people one more time and try to make this summer the BEST for respectful families or groups to enjoy our beautiful state! Please reach out with questions or for recommendations during your stay! IMPORTANT: there is an adjacent mother-in-law apartment on the property, located on the ground level, behind the garage. The long-term renter will use the garage to enter and exit the property, not the main entrance. The only space shared is the parking area. The spaces are separated with a secure door, with a deadbolt lock and an alarm that activates if the door is opened. We have taken these extra steps to ensure both parties feel secure. Please feel free to reach out with additional questions!
Why they chose this property
Our home is far enough from busy city noises and distractions to really get to relax, but still close enough to avoid long commutes for essentials like restaurants and shopping. Surrounded by mature trees, our guests enjoy the same peaceful setting that invited our large, blended family to purchase it 15 years ago.
What makes this property unique
Extra amenities: outdoor hot tub (purchased new for the 2025 season!), heated kitchen floor, fully outfitted kitchen for chefs and bakers alike, stocked with the essentials you need to get you going upon arrival. There is a ping pong table, loads of games, books and puzzles for kids of all ages to explore and enjoy. Outdoor spaces include a Traeger, “giant driveway chess,” patio furniture and lush, grassy lawn and flowers, all framed by mature trees that offer a peaceful visual boundary.
