Blue Ribbon Potential
This was a nice place, though in an older building. (A fire alarm sounded off at 4:45 the first morning.) It had modern touches and essentials were provided. The biggest mistake was not assuring that the optimal balcony view wasn’t marred by bird droppings on the seats, wall and floor. Also, the furniture was rusted and flaking. The glass doors needed wiping and the door tracks needed to be swept or vacuumed and oiled so that the doors could glide more easily. In addition, the cleaners need to be sure that prior guest hairs don’t remain in the bed, tub and sofa. The linens were good, but some had an odd scent.
Vacasa was responsive, but kept giving the run-around about the cleaning matters being handled. It was reported the first night (of 4 nights) and nothing was done throughout the full stay. We ended up using the comforter, linens and towels to cover the furniture - couch and balcony seating. It wasn’t until I found a corporate email for Vacasa and reported our experience that a representative acknowledged the matter as significant, offered an apology from the owners (along with the owner’s poor excuses for the problems) and a partial reimbursement, based on the pictures and communication log I’d sent.
Ultimately, the problems didn’t ruin our vacation, but they were disappointing. With the corrections, this would be a top stay at Galveston Beach.
