About this property

The Cosmic Vortex-Private Mountain retreat near downtown Asheville-Pet Friendly

Drink your morning coffee on the large deck while you watch the sunrise over the mountains. Take an afternoon nap in the hammock in the shade. Gaze out the windows at the mountain views. Sleep peacefully in the quiet and dark bedroom. Heat up leftovers from that wonderful Asheville restaurant and have dinner with a glass of wine on the deck. Watch roku tv or play games. Super close to all Asheville has to offer, yet feels like a mountain retreat. This is a dog friendly space.

The space is very private and includes a large deck, a front room with a futon, roku tv, microwave, fridge/freezer, and Kuerig coffee maker. The bedroom has a memory foam mattress topper, a variety of pillow styles, and black out shades. Please note, there is not a full kitchen as Asheville rules do not allow this. There is a microwave, minifridge with freezer, dishes, and a Kuerig coffee maker with supplies.
Guest access
You will have complete privacy in the rooms shown in the pictures and on the deck. I live alone in the other side of the home. I have put up sound barriers between our two spaces so we won't hear each other. The deck does overlook the parking area, so you may see me in the parking area. There is one neighbor, but the way our homes are situated, I only see her when she is pulling down the driveway, which we share. There is a designated parking space for guests and the space can accommodate an extra car or two, just let me know if you need this.
Other things to note
The paved driveway is steep but easy to manage. There is a code lock on the door for easy self check in. There is an outside cat that lives here named Kansas. She is a very friendly and may want to hang out on the deck with you. She is not obnoxious, though, so if you show no interest in petting her, she will wander off.

Lovely stay
Meg hosts a lovely stay in Asheville. The porch and solitude of the home are fantastic. It is a quiet neighborhood, and the home is located at the top of a steep driveway. I walked up the driveway once and it was some good exercise. The space is small and well appointed.

Rooms with a beautiful view
Two cozy rooms and a perfect deck cut into the hillside. Perfect for an Ashville retreat.

About the host

Host profile image
I have lived in Asheville for 14 years and love it here! When I moved here, I had 2 teenagers living with me. After they moved out, I didn't need such a large home, which is when I created the rental space. I have been a super host on another site for over a year and just recently listed on VRBO. I love providing an awesome place for people to stay in Asheville, and making a little extra as I move toward retirement from a career as a teacher.
I love hiking and enjoying live music, both of which are plentiful in Asheville.
I am happy to provide recommendations of things to do here.

Why they chose this property

The home is in a lovely neighborhood, just up the hill from Merrimon Avenue. Downtown Asheville is about five minutes away. It truly is the best of both worlds, it feels like a private mountain retreat, yet everything is so close.

What makes this property unique

The private deck with beautiful views is definitely a highlight of the space. The bedroom has blackout shades and is nestled against the mountain so people always tell me they sleep great here. It is very quiet and peaceful.
Guests especially love the sweet cat that lives here, Kansas. If you aren't into cats, she will leave you alone. And if you have a dog, you might not see her. She isn't fond of them. :)
