Escape to a warm and welcoming waterfront log cottage on Lake Chantplein, part of the historic Mattawa River Heritage Waterway. Beautiful Log Cottage is ideal for couples, small families, and quiet getaways with friends. It sleeps up to 6 guests in 3 sleeping spaces: a king bedroom, a queen bedroom, and a separate sleep cabin with a queen bed for added privacy. Second great atv getaway

This was our second time staying at the cabin for a long weekend atv trip. We booked this cabin again since we were so impressed when we stayed last year. Very clean, cozy atmosphere and right down the road from the trail system. Highly recommended.

Great log cabin cottage, on nice private location. Everyone enjoyed the kayaking, canoeing, swimming and floating on the river. Well stocked cottage. Mattawa is a very friendly little town; go to the poutine shack! GB Beeton, Ont.

Perfect Spot!

This was our third stay at this cabin for a fall ATV trip with some friends and family. Always spotless and well appointed. Three and a half days of rain didn't stop us from having a great time on the VMUTS trail system...which is conveniently just a short ride down the road. Just a few minutes from town yet very private. Everyone in our group loves this place.

Every detail was covered for this excellent getaway

We enjoyed an excellent week at this stellar log cabin cottage. The owners covered every detail and they were extremely responsive when we had questions. Despite some rainy days, there was still lots to do including the games that are supplied and Netflix for the teenagers. The only downside to this trip was having to leave.

I’ve spent summers on this lake since I was a little girl, and later my children did too. Some of my happiest memories are here, and one of my dearest lifelong friends is from the area, which makes it even more special to me. I enjoy sharing this beautiful part of Northern Ontario with others and want guests to experience the same peace, beauty, and simple cottage pleasures that have meant so much to my family over the years. Being a host gives me the chance to welcome people to a place I genuinely love.

Why they chose this property

We've loved this log cottage for years and when the owners decided to sell their much loved summer home, we were blessed to buy it for our children. It's still a few years away before they will use it, so we are renting it out so that it will still be enjoyed. One year, we spent Christmas day there as an ongoing tradition and we can't imagine a more perfect setting. What a treat! A wonderful family occasion with a roaring fire, board games, laughs and hot chocolate!

What makes this property unique

Nature at her best, white majestic pines, clean lake/river, privacy yet not far from town, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, peace & quiet, marshmallow roast, BBQ, history, museum, art gallery, hiking trails, good & inexpensive golf. And we could go on!
