A wonderful beach front, southern exposure log cottage nestled among majestic white pine. Watch the mist rise, listen to the loons, and have your coffee on the dock. Canoe or kayak along the historic Mattawa River - Lake Chantplein. Read a book or swim. Roast marshmallows and watch the stars sparkle almost within your reach. Hike to town for a great meal at the Voyageur Inn or BBQ in the outdoor summer kitchen. It’s up to you. WiFi, Netflix and lots of board games.

Great romantic setting for couples or plenty of room for the whole family or a group of friends. It sleeps up to 6 adults in 3 bedrooms including a sleep cabin. The main cottage has a great room with a wall of windows overlooking Lake Chantplein , a part of the Mattawa River Heritage Waterway. Washroom with shower, full kitchen, drilled well, sun porch, propane fireplace for heat and ambiance, carport, good cell service and WiFi.

Amazing week!

My girlfriend and I had an amazing stay! It was her first time to Mattawa and I was so happy to make so many new memories with her here! We will for sure be returning next summer. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

Every detail was covered for this excellent getaway

We enjoyed an excellent week at this stellar log cabin cottage. The owners covered every detail and they were extremely responsive when we had questions. Despite some rainy days, there was still lots to do including the games that are supplied and Netflix for the teenagers. The only downside to this trip was having to leave.

The Perfect Getaway

Fourth stay for my girlfriend and I, and the best one yet. This beautiful cottage is such a peaceful, special place and has become a tradition for us to visit. Brought my parents for a couple of days so that they could see why we keep coming back, and they were extremely impressed! So clean and cozy. Best way to unwind and relax. What a great weekend! This was a perfect getaway from the city. Thank you so much for accommodating us on such short notice. It was the best vacation we could have imagined. We particularly loved playing board games by the fire, cooking in the outdoor kitchen and taking sunset kayak rides. Looking forward to staying with you next spring! Beautiful well appointed accomodations with all the comforts of home!

Everything you could want or need is here for you when you arrive at this beautiful log cottage. From the welcome basket to the well stocked kitchen, to the comfortable beds and linens, we immediately felt at home. The beach and dock provided the perfect spot for a bonfire or launch to use the canoe or kayak. Close access to the historical Ottawa and Mattawa rivers, great hiking and lots of opportunity to enjoy nature created a perfect opportunity to recharge on our vacation. Tina was excellent in responding to any questions we had and was a pleasure to deal with. 5 stars and highly recommend this property!

Wonderful cottage.

Everything about this cottage is great. It is comfortable and well equipped, the swimming is great and the host, Tina, is wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised to find a nice bottle of wine and a Smore's kit waiting for us when we arrived, and a fire had been set for us in the fire pit. All we had to do was light it and get our fingers sticky! We have rented it fo 2022 and 2023. Dave and Dianne

Peaceful and relaxing!

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at this beautiful, clean, well appointed and comfortable log cabin. Tiny is a very communicative hostess who thinks of all the little extra special things to make everything nicer. The location on the Mattawa River was idyllic. The history of the area was so thoroughly fascinating and important to our Canadian heritage. The town was quaint and the people very friendly. This is a top notch property in a beautiful location. We look forward to our return visit next fall to enjoy the spectacular fall colours. Thank you very much for your hospitality Tina!

summer after '69

Fabulous quite lake front. This rustic cottage is on one of Canada's (and United States)most historic waterways. The canoe route to the upper great lakes and western North America passes by your front window. Imagine all early indigenous travellers, explorers, courier de bois and fur traders used these same waters. The loon's gentle song added to evening grace and a morning wake up call. We had a lovely time.

It was great!

We spent a week at this quiet, peaceful, spot in the beautiful log cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed it, in spite of chilly damp weather. The surroundings are beautiful, with view of the lake, the gorgeous pine trees, the wild life... Husband did a lot of fishing off the dock, enjoying sitting there in the peace and quiet, even misty rain did not deter him. We made good use of the outdoor fireplace in the evenings, it is so brilliant to have a covered area like that! Inside we had all the comfort, with comfortable furniture, a gas fireplace, a table for playing cards, and Netflix on the TV. Our daughter and husband loved the variety of birds on the property (they are avid bird watchers), did some kayaking, and hiked in Samuel De Champlain Park, as well as Eau Claire Gorge off road 630. The kitchen is very well equipped and there is lots of information on things to do in the area. It was a great stay, in the summer with good weather and the beach for swimming, it must be awesome. Maybe that’s when we should come back!

Another Flawless Stay

Stayed for our fifth straight year and had a great time. We had 6 adults this year which is our most so far but the property is well suited for it. We stayed in the sleeper cabin for the first time and loved it, nothing beats waking up to that view! Great area, lots of nature and nearby activities, fishing off the dock and the kayaks were a hit. Cause a bass and a pike off the dock and saw a lot of animals at the cottage and out on our hikes - a fox, beaver, chipmunks, snake, salamander, frogs, fox, a MOOSE. Another great year, hope to be back soon!

Cottage Paradise

This is a beautiful tranquil cottage experience. The cottage and property are clean and well maintained, and you can tell the owners take pride in seeing that you have a fun and enjoyable stay. It is very private and there is an abundance of wildlife that will amaze you. These type of properties are becoming more difficult to find. This was our third time staying here and we have thoroughly enjoyed it every time. Thanks again to the owners for sharing this lovely cottage.

Very cute cabin as the pictures showed but unfortunately for us we were limited to the cabin for the entire week as the blackflies were the worst ive ever seen (I grew up in northern ontario). Absolutely stunning riverside view and host was very nice but the blackflies definitely ruined our trip.

Perfect Spot!

This was our third stay at this cabin for a fall ATV trip with some friends and family. Always spotless and well appointed. Three and a half days of rain didn't stop us from having a great time on the VMUTS trail system...which is conveniently just a short ride down the road. Just a few minutes from town yet very private. Everyone in our group loves this place.

Time Stands Still Here

This is a special place, where time stands still. My husband and son both caught pike off the end the dock, and we enjoyed kayaking around the lake. Unfortunately we could only stay a few days because a family crisis brought us home early.

This was such an awesome place. I would highly recommend anyone with children stay here. The little beach was great and the water was warm. The town of Mattawa is beautiful.

Why they chose this property

We've loved this log cottage for years and when the owners decided to sell their much loved summer home, we were blessed to buy it for our children. It's still a few years away before they will use it, so we are renting it out so that it will still be enjoyed. One year, we spent Christmas day there as an ongoing tradition and we can't imagine a more perfect setting. What a treat! A wonderful family occasion with a roaring fire, board games, laughs and hot chocolate!

What makes this property unique

Nature at her best, white majestic pines, clean lake/river, privacy yet not far from town, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, peace & quiet, marshmallow roast, BBQ, history, museum, art gallery, hiking trails, good & inexpensive golf. And we could go on!
