About this property

Train Watchers' Cottage on Way to Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge

Relax on front porch swing and catch a glimpse of the many trains that pass through Folkston each day. Visit the Train Museum in the old restored depot in downtown Folkston. Walk around town for an ice cream cone or soup and a sandwich at Whistlin' Dixie's and join the ever present group of rail fans at the Funnel. Take a short ride to the Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge for a guided tour of the pristine wilderness or rent a boat for a closer look at the alligators in the cypress swamp. Take a day trip to historic St. Marys where ferries daily cruise the open waters of the St. Marys River forty-five minutes to Cumberland Island where you will see wild horses, deer and turkeys on your walk across the island to the Atlantic Ocean beach. Take other day trips to St. Simons, Jekyll, or Amelia Island.
At the end of the day enjoy dinner at the Okefenokee Restaurant in Folkston or Lang's seafood in St. Marys.
