The town of Corolla is the northernmost town on the Outer Banks and is home to a large expanse of beautiful beaches, wonderful restaurants, and shops. The town has just completed a pedestrian path that allows you to walk or ride bikes along route 12 on a separate path into Corolla. The area is famous for the Currituck Lighthouse and heard of wild horses that roam freely on the beaches in the 4 wheel drive only section. This 4x4 area of Corolla is located about 15 minutes from Lighthouse Point. You know you are there when the road ends past the Ocean Hill community. The 4x4 area is a 21 miles stretch of beach that has no paved roads and is only accessible by driving on the beach. You can spend the day out on the beach and look for these amazing horses. WARNING**4 Wheel drive only** NO CARS OR AWD VEHICLES YOU WILL GET STUCK ON THE BEACH!!! If you don't want to venture out on your own there are several horse tour operators where you can book a tour. Also 10 mins away you can climb the Currituck Lighthouse and explore The Whalehead Club that often hosts wine tastings and music events all summer long. The town of Corolla has a lot to offer and is a wonderful place to spend your vacation on the Outer Banks!!
About OBX Beach Bookers
We have been coming to Corolla in the Outer Banks since we were teenagers and love everything about the Outer Banks. We are from Maryland and when searching for a Beach House, we looked at the DE/MD beaches and eventhough they are 3 hours closer to where we live full-time, we decided the extra 3 hours was well worth it. We welcome you to Lighthouse Point and enjoy your stay in the Outer Banks, wherever you decide to stay.
OBX Beach Bookers purchased this house in 2011
Why OBX Beach Bookers chose Ocean Sands
We have always enjoyed Corolla and love the lighthouse and the 4 wheel drive area. We always take our truck to the 4x4 area in search of wild horse and always seem to find a herd or two. We are a dog family as well and this is the great thing about the wide beaches of Corolla, you can take your dog on the beach year round and our dog simply loves the beach and lounging on the deck.
