Stay somewhere else

This is a far cry from a “sexy penthouse”. The space was much smaller than expected, it was also not cleaned very well. I had to go around cleaning myself when I arrived. Dirty handprints on the cabinets, walls are dirty, hair in the bathroom and somehow on the ceiling, there was also random hair in our bedding, the floors left the bottom of our feet black no matter how much we tried to clean it. Overall gross. The only reason we stayed for the 5 days was because we had no where else to book and it would have been a hassle to move our entire family. Also, I must have missed this or it was not posted, this tiny apartment is on the 4th floor and no elevators—after walking DC all day the last thing you want to do is hike up 4 flights of stairs with two kids. Now about the location, it’s not a great area so don’t try walking around at night. I would not recommend this place to a family with little ones or anyone to be honest. The couch is tiny and falling apart, not a comfortable place to come back to after a long day exploring the city. Oh and let’s not forget the parking situation….there is no parking. We found a garage 4 blocks down from here and paid $20 a day for parking, or we would have had to move our car from one side of the street to the other side every 2 hours. Save yourself the hassle, pay $50 or even $100 more a night for a different place to stay that is more comfortable and closer to all the attractions.

Don't plan on parking; beware of neighborhood

My family of 6 stayed here over our SB. It was 1 block from the metro to go into DC to site see. This is an approx 12 unit bldg, and there are 2 avail. parking spots across the street behind another bldg that are available to the entire bldg. There are no passes for these spots and one really can't tell if the cars in the spots truly belong to the building. They were always taken when we were there. The rest of the parking is 2.5 hr street parking. This was very distressing because we would go into the city on the metro and couldn't come back every 2.5 hours to move our car. I reached out to the owner--they were supposed to try to get us a permit, and we never heard back. We just risked getting a ticket the whole time we were there. Luckily it poured rain, which stunk but helped our chances. The locking latch on the balcony door didn't work either. We were on the 4th floor, which helped ease our minds, but we reported that it was broken; we were told maintenance was notified and again it wasn't fixed while we were there. Regarding the neighborhood: the CVS at the end of the block was boarded up and we found out that a car drove into it the week before to try to steal the ATM. Lastly, on the last day of our stay, my family and I stepped off our metro into an active crime scene. A teenager had just been shot dead. We were stranded on the platform until the scene was cleared. My kids were so traumatized that we left town that night. They wouldn't refund our last night's stay.
