About this property

Luxury Farmhouse With Pool Close To The Sea

Casa Gunilla was finished in 2013 to top standard after a couple of years of restoring an old farmhouse. The house is situated just outside the village of Palmoli in a sheltered location, with a big oak forest behind the house, and stunning views with an olive grove in front.

MORE INFORMATION ON CASA GUNILLA:
The downstairs area is an open plan kitchen/living room with a great big fireplace and an extendable dining table and a smaller bathroom with shower. Upstairs there are three bedrooms sleeping 8 people and a large bathroom with a shower. The two double bedrooms have amazing views to wake up to. However, it is really the outside that is mostly utilized with a huge patio with a view and a big pool area with sun chairs and a private salt water pool.

The neighbor, Ermano, sells olive oil, eggs and vegetables. He only speaks Italian, but that is generally not a problem at all. It doesn't matter to him if you speak another language. He is equally friendly.

Perfect spot for young family

We found this the perfect house for a family holiday. The grounds and the view are stunning. The house is impeccable decorated and the outdoor area is a delightful place to relax. I would highly recommend it.

Wow wow wow. This place is AMAZING. So sad we didn't stay longer! Gorgeous views--you can't stop staring at the rolling hills, lavender and butterflies everywhere. The house is so functional and beautiful and comfortable. I can't say enough good things about this house--we will DEFINITELY be back.

A little oasis of paradise

Like a mystical Merchant Ivory film, waking up at this property is like a warm blanket to the soul. Sounds a bit of an exaggeration? Not at all. This is truly the place to go when you want to get away from it all. We can’t wait to return!

Lovely vacation with a beautiful view

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Gunilla very much. The house is located on a hill near Palmoli. A small village with very friendly people. The house has a nice swimming pool. The house is very private located with a quiet peaceful surroundings. I recommend the house for one big family There are 2 bathrooms but the the second one is located downstairs next to the kitchen. The house is very cosy. There are ceiling ventilators to give you some fresh air during the nights.

Wonderful House in Palmoli

We had a fantastic stay for a week in late August (five people total including two teenagers and their grandmother). Beautiful house with wonderful view over valley and hills. Very clean, large, and well equipped. Gunilla and Niklas are very kind and responsive hosts. We were worried about temperature but the house was very cool and comfortable at all times even when temp was 29 outside.(They even bought a portable AC unit for us which we didn’t need to use!!). Good proximity to beautiful warm water beaches and restaurants/shopping in Vasto and hiking in national park. Palmoli and many other small towns very close by. We “lost electricity” (our fault, flipped a fuse wrong way) and a person was at the house within 30 minutes to fix it. Top rating!

Our Home away from Home

We received the best package of information as soon as we booked which included many sights to see, beaches, activities and best of all great food recommendations. All of this info was invaluable for our stay at the Casa, help us so much in our planning. The house is so well situated— views from the outer terrace are breathtaking. The kitchen has everything necessary for preparing meals—we ate out through the day to returning to enjoy a dip on the pool and relaxed over a meal in the evening. Palmoli is a wonderful place to walk to & explore… enjoyed lunch & dinner at Angelo dei Capricci. Also a highlight that was suggested was at the Al Vecchio Tratturo, where we were treated like family & our courses of food were the best we had experienced—this says a lot for we were never disappointed in any of our meals while away. There is so much to do in Abruzzo without the crowds we had been a part of prior to our quiet, slow paced week here at Casa Gunilla. This is the ideal spot to explore & enjoy Italy.

The most relaxing and beautifull view

We had a very nice and relaxing week in the house of Gunilla. We mostly enjoyed the house and the pool but also went one day to the beach in Vasto about 40 min drive. The drives down the mountain was a bit long and challenging for us but we also went for a very nice dinner one night in one of the small villages 20 min drive from the house. Niklas and Gunilla were very helpful and service minded with the small issues we had during our stay. Small recommendations for future improvements: we love to have boiled eggs every morning of our vacation and were missing egg cups. With 35C this July air conditioning in all bedrooms is a need as the fans are not enough during this high temperatures. These are just small wishes and we survived without and had a very nice vacation. Will for sure miss the views every morning.

Beautiful views, lovely comfortable stay

Luckily for us it had been a wet spring and everything was green, lush and covered with wild flowers. The villa is well appointed and had everything we needed (except hairdryer so bring your own and Italian plug adapters as they are not standard European). Abruzzo is beautiful and the medieval hilltop towns are sleepy and picturesque. Local restaurants are thin on the ground so be prepared to drive on wiggly mountain roads for 30 mins to get to a better selection - however the drive scenary is breathtaking. We found plenty to do, wine tasting, site seeing, food tours etc and the locals could not have been more friendly or helpful (thanks to sign language and Google translate). The villa has a super pool, comfy beds and all you need for self catering. Bring binoculars to see foxes, Golden Oriels, turtledoves, birds of prey. We also saw wild boar and fireflies. If you love flora and fauna and unspoiled countryside with a mix of peace and tranquility come here. If you are a nervous driver then don't!

Ett fantastiskt fint hus med otrolig utsikt över landskapet. Det ligger avskilt och ostört men det finns ändå mycket att se och göra i området om man har bil och kan ta sig runt. Gunilla kom med många bra tips på restauranger och utflykter i området.

Belle maison avec superbe vue. Elle garde le frais malgré la chaleur et literie très confortable. Piscine non chauffée donc assez fraîche même fin août, avec beaucoup d'insectes, mais robot pour nettoyer à disposition. Équipemens biens, même si un micro-onde et une machine à café pourraient être utiles. Propreté et rangement pas irréprochables, mais certainement compliqué en fin de saison. Maison assez difficile à trouver dans l'obscurité, quelques plaques seraient les bienvenues... Système de boîte à clefs bien pratique. Et pour terminer, village de Palmoli à cinq minute, avec une super pte supérette à l'entrée et de très bonnes pizzas!

Auch bei unserem zweiten Aufenthalt in der Casa Gunilla hatten wir einen wundervollen Urlaub. Anlage, Ausstattung und Qualität genügen höchsten Ansprüchen. Die EInsamkeit und der Blick von der Terrasse auf die grünen Hügel der Abbruzzen sorgen für Entspannung und wir können schon jetzt kaum erwarten, wieder hinzufahren.

Wat een fijn huis. Heel knus ingericht en goede faciliteiten; fijn zwembad, prachtig terras met fenomenaal uitzicht, goede keuken en badkamers en knusse kamers. Genoeg ruimte ook om je terug te trekken en rustig een boek te lezen.

Semplicemente bellissimo (quasi unico)

Il posto ha soddisfatto e superato le nostre aspettative, Un casale tipico, accuratamente ristrutturato dove non manca assolutamente niente. Immerso in un'osai verde, una grande terrazza coperta con veduta mozzafiato sulle colline abruzzesi. Bellissima la piscina e la zona solarium con 4 comodi lettini, tanto bella che ha occupato buona parte del nostro tempo. L'interno è moto ben disposto con 3 camere due bagni e una grande zona cucina-giorno, molto comodo per 8 persone. Lo consiglio.

What an Amazing Place to Relax and Enjoy Italy!

We came here after spending several 'big city' days (Barcelona & Rome), and this was exactly what we needed! Unbeatable views, fabulous outdoor sitting area, full kitchen, pool, books, puzzles, games - what more could you need? Beautiful beaches are about a 25-minute drive, and you can walk to the charming town of Palmoli in about 20-minutes. The hosts provide an extensive list of activities, beaches, and restaurants. We miss it already!

Vackert, trivsamt hus med gudomlig utsikt

Ett superfint hus med härlig terass, fint inrett och med sköna sängar. Precis så charmigt som det ser ut på bilderna. Vi bodde här under 9 varma dagar i augusti och trivdes väldigt bra. Ägaren svarade blixtsnabbt på våra frågor och såg till att fixa fläktar och annat när det behövdes. Vi fick dessutom massor av trevliga tips på restauranger, badplatser och annat att göra i området. Kan varmt rekommenderas till den som gillar en lugn, lantlig, genuin atmosfär.

Underbar utsikt och omgivning. Rent och fräscht hus med alla nödvändiga faciliteter. Sköna sängar. Såg precis ut som på bilderna, fast bättre! Härlig pool! Var dock väldigt varmt på nätterna, hade gärna haft en fläkt alternativt myggnät som täckte fönstren.
