The theme of this Lopez Island cedar home is Northwest nautical. The cabin is situated on 3 private acres with plenty of sunshine and grassy open space. If you're looking for a large, private property with lots of space to spread out and a gorgeous view, look no further.
The cabin faces north and has a view of Swifts Bay in the foreground and Orcas Island and Mt. Constitution in the background. The view reminds you of the special place you are in the world; surrounded by water and islands. Swift’s Bay beach is a 3 minute walk from the lower property and Spencer Spit State Park is a mere 10 minute walk up the gravel road. The cabin is a 10 minute drive from both the ferry landing and the village.
The floor plan includes two bedrooms, one full bath, kitchen, and great room with wood stove on the main floor and a sleeping loft, reading alcove, TV area, and ¾ bath on the second floor. The downstairs bedrooms each have a queen size bed and the sleeping loft has a queen bed and twin sized bunk beds. There is a port-a-crib available for the little ones.
There is a flat screen TV with a Blu-Ray/DVD player. We have a modest selection of movies for your viewing pleasure. There is wifi internet access as well. Tons of puzzles and board games.
The cabin has a large, wraparound deck for enjoying meals alfresco, listening to songbirds, watching deer graze or raptors soar high overhead. Adirondack chairs, reclining chairs, picnic table and a sun umbrella are on the deck for relaxing. The cabin is surrounded by an acre of grass for playing games or just having fun.
There is plenty to do on Lopez including biking, kayaking, whale watching, fishing, eating local organic food or just relaxing and doing nothing at all. Find out why the San Juan Island's are listed as one of the top island destinations in the world by Conde Nast and other travel publications.
This is a wonderful cabin to share family memories and enjoy everything that the San Juan Islands has to offer.
We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do.

Picturesque, spotless cabin in a lovely setting with a great distant water/harbor view. Nicely furnished with plenty of dishes, glasses, pots and pans, towels, etc. We would definitely return. Great stay!!

Thanks Mark. It was a pleasure to host you and your family.
2 bedrooms downstairs and a larger bedroom and bath upstairs. Functional kitchen with everything you need. The washer and dryer were very useful. The best was the wonderful and large porch with plenty of seating, grill, and great view. I don’t VRBO often, but this was excellent experience . Thank You Rich
This cabin was really wonderful! Came with my family, half of us on bikes. Stayed right on the edge of Spencer spit. Small view from the cabin. Rich and Amy were great hosts, clear communication at the beginning. We only stayed 2 nights and had no issue. Would stay here again.
In August our far-flung family gathers on Lopez. Rich and Amy’s cottage has served us well on two different years. We love the location next to the park and walk out into the spit everyday. The house is clean and well stocked, and during a cool rainy spell this year we enjoyed the cozy wood stove.
Property was perfect for our family with a beautiful deck and yard. Comfy beds and house was stocked with games and puzzles. Pans in kitchen (very scratched) and towels in bathrooms have seen better days (very rough). Kitchen could use clean sponges/ extra paper towels.
We love spending time as a family on Lopez Island and Rich and Amy’s place makes that possible. It’s more suited to families with children than 7 adults. Only one bedroom has a closet where it’s possible to hand clothes and one other has a dresser. We stayed 8 days living out of suitcases. The bathrooms are ok and functional, and the kitchen is small but well stocked. The deck is spacious and the distant view is lovely. While I enjoyed sitting on the deck, we could not eat on the deck because of bees.
We loved staying in this beautiful and cozy cabin. I love that it’s within walking distance to Spencer Spit and close to town. It had lots of beds so was great for the kids. Kids also loved the great selection of DVDs and cozy living area.
From the beginning, host’s check-in directions (concise), to all aspects of the Lopez Cabin’s accommodations (cookware, kitchen dishes and utensils, BBQ, deck seating), comfortable bedrooms, dining & living room. We had a lovely stay and hope to return, soon!
This was a great cabin for our extended family. It was close to beaches, the kitchen was wonderfully equipped and the large deck was great for relaxing on.
This is a beautiful, peaceful, comfortable place that was a great location for a weekend stay for me and my teenage son. It is walking distance to Spencer Spit State Park, and a quick drive away from other hiking spots and from town. The beds were comfy, and the wood-burning stove perfect for a rainy evening. Next time we will bring the whole family!
We loved our stay here. It is in great condition and everyone was very comfortable. The host, Rich was very responsive and friendly. We made some great memories and would love to come back here again someday.
Three generations from east coast and west coast had a wonderful time together at the cabin. Great location. Beautiful view. Clean and well stocked with everything we needed.
Fabulous place to stay especially with young children
We were delighted to see how easy it was for us to walk down the hill to the beach and on the gravel road to Spencer Spit. We found the kitchen had everything we needed to cook all of our meals and grill outdoors every nite. I loved the wood burning stove for the cold mornings and the fact that the home had enough screens to allow us to sleep at nite as it didn't have air-conditioning. Mu children were delighted with the number of toys in the closets and the large yard where we set up the "summer olympics". Rich was a very responsive host and did a great job supplying linen and towels for our entire family.
Loved the property! Secluded and quiet with a peek a boo view of ferries going by. Close to Spencer Spit State Park. Fully stocked with spices, games, toys, etc. Spacious deck for morning coffee and afternoon drinks. Will definitely return!
Many rentals are not as nice as advertised. This one really is. The house is lovely and the huge deck and yard are wonderful.
