About this property

Cozy Cabin with River Access optional full 50amp RV hook-ups onsite

Cozy cabin nestled in the scenic hillsides of this working cattle ranch in Kimberly, Oregon. Ornate rock formations, sage and juniper dot the skyline and adorn the mountainside in this sleepy little town in rural eastern Oregon. It sits on one beautiful mile of North Fork John Day River. Some of the finest bass and steelhead fishing are found along the banks of this pristine North Fork John Day river which is suitable for river floats to the main stem of the John Day just six miles away at the Kimberly Orchards. This is premier hunting and recreation area at its finest. Elk, deer, antelope, cougar, bobcat, quail, chucker, grouse, turkey, ducks, geese, and other waterfowl are just a few of the species that live in this eastern Oregon outback they call home.

Located between Kimberly & Monument on Hwy 402. Listen to the elk bugle and smell fresh cut alfalfa from the covered wraparound patio at the cozy 1 bed/1bath 1020sqft cabin. It features inlaid stone perimeter sidewalks, laundry & mud room with closets, pantry, sink, 1 bathroom/shower combo. Open living area with propane furnace & wood stove heat and fully equipped kitchen with deep granite sink, dishwasher, built in microwave and on demand hot water. Carpet, inlaid stone & wood flooring throughout with vaulted ceiling. Open windows have valley views of the river and Rudio Mountain out the back door. A concrete 15x45 parking pad with full 50 amp RV hook-ups can be included upon request for an additional fee.

There are yard areas with fruit & shade trees surrounding the cabin. Relax after a long day of outdoor recreation and sit out by the fire pit and watch the stars come out.

Great for families, hunters, fishing, or just a quiet get away!

Location is approximately 120 miles from Pendleton, 60 miles from John Day, 225 miles from Portland and 140 miles from Bend.

***Please note that there is no cell phone service at the cabin. You need to have a map/directions and check-in instructions downloaded before traveling. There is Wifi in the cabin but it is not the fastest.***

We had a fantastic experience. The cabin was as advertised. It was clean, peaceful, lots of wildlife, and Amanda provided privacy but was very welcoming when our kids asked to play on the swing set.

This was a great vacation getaway. The cabin has all the comforts of home in the middle of nowhere (or the middle of everywhere, depending on how you look at it). This is a great base for exploring the John Day country and is very close to the Sheep Rock unit of the Fossil Beds National Monument.

Great location. Quiet and well located near hwy19 and the John Day River corridor. Cabin on same plot as owner's house on a working farm/ranch. Cabin has all you need to relax after a long day exploring or touring local roads. Will reserve again without hesitation. We had our two labradors with us and they had a blast with the owner's dogs.

Our host, Amber, was very helpful in all things. She provided us with information on many of the sites in the John Day Fossil Beds Monument. Although there wasn't much we needed as the cabin was well furnished, she made herself available if we needed anything! Lovely place to settle for a week!

Peace and quiet in the most beautiful country. Has everything you need for your stay. Never turned on the tv. Too busy gazing at the landscape, walking in the river, stargazing and playing with the two doggies and one kitty. Even ate a few apples from the tree.

Really nice place to stay

We spent 3 nights in the cabin. It is located on a farm on the John Day River. The cabin is roomy, with comfortable furniture to include a very comfortable bed - my key need for any place to stay. Everything you need is included. The owners are really nice and were great to talk to. They have 3 wonderful dogs. It was the best VRBO place that we have ever stayed in. I highly recommend it.

Welcoming home base for John Day explorations

We spent a lovely long weekend staying at the Cozy Cabin in Kimberly and we look forward to staying there again. The cabin is well-located between the three units of the John Day National Monument that made for an excellent first foray into this unique geography of Oregon.Amanda and her family made us feel right at home and the cabin has a great view across the valley to enjoy home-cooked meals while watching the sunlight play on the fields and valley walls at the start or end of a days adventure. Our daughter was thrilled to find two more girls close to her own age for hours of fun playing together on their spring break and highly recommends the swingset!

Great cabin in Kimberly

Cabin was great and the area scenic. There's not a lot around there, so this is a bit of a welcome oasis. Could've been cleaner and they had a silverfish issue...but overall it was a good stay.

Where the deer and antelope play.

Very comfortable. Just one bedroom, but plenty of room for cots. Saw deer, antelope and turkeys from the firepit! Heard the sand hill cranes heading somewhere.
