Thank you Kristie! We are so glad you all enjoyed staying with us! We would love to have you back!
Owner was friendly, answered messages very quickly and helped make my birthday weekend extra special! Great location for trails and there is a tavern and store right across the road. House itself was very clean and well taken care of with everything you would find in your own home. Also loved that there was 2 living areas. We had 2 families staying in the house and we were all able to have our own space.
What a fantastic stay! The property was just perfect for our group! Easy access to the trailhead, plenty of parking and overall a great place. The host was very easy to communicate with. There is a great bar across the street that has yummy food and a good crowd. Highly recommend to stay. :)

Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay! We can’t wait to have you back!
Great house, and amazing interior. Very spacious, and felt like it was cared for very well. The owners supplied the house with activities( karaoke machine, fire wood for the fire pit, ect) the house is located in the center of matawan so if you are renting or have a side by side you can hop on the trail right next to the house which is trail 21. Very welcoming and friendly town, restaurants in walking distance, plenty of stores) all the locals will want to become your friends and that was very. Highly reccomend!!
This place was great. Had everything we needed. The owners are very responsive. It was very clean, spacious, convenient to stores and right across the street to the trailhead. Not many listings are accurate but this one was spot on. I would highly recommend Trailhead Lodging for any group wanting to hit the trails or just coming to town for any other reason. I will definitely be staying again if I’m coming back to this area. Highly recommend!!! Five stars! Would give more if I could! From NC ❤️

Thank you Melody! We are glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to have you back!
Have stayed there twice now, and will still recommend.
First of all, the place is extremely clean, and then when you realize that everyone who stays there is just going out and playing in dust and mud you understand that the place is unbelievably clean. The rooms are all very big and spacious and the place is large enough that we had 12 people staying there and we never felt cramped. There are 2 large hang out rooms inside and then there is a deck, a patio, and a fire pit outside to hang out around. The host is very prompt to reply to you and good to work with, even making sure you have all the little extras that really make the trip enjoyable, like a little extra firewood. The town of Matewan is super nice and friendly and you can walk to the restaurants and historical sites, and you are very close to a gas station and grocery store. And if you prefer to cook, the kitchen is very well stocked with pots and pans and even appliances like an air fryer, dishwasher, microwave, blender, mixer, etc. and lots of glassware, plates, silverware, spatulas, it's got you covered. For trail riding you can literally sit and watch people going in and out of the trail head. There is plenty of room for parking you vehicles, trailers, and rigs. The only reason I put 4 stars for location is because there are very active train tracks in the back yard, and a railroad crossing right next to the house, so several times a night you will hear the train blasting it's horn and running past the house, but it's not too bad. Overall it's a great place to stay!
