About this property

Mt. View Hot Tub, Amazing Sequoias Retreat

PERMIT #289
Welcome to Slate Mt. View Retreat! The cabin is located along a valley in the Giant Sequoia National Forest (Sequoia National Monument)- Camp Nelson Ca, with gorgeous views of the forest/mountains from the porch. The living space has large windows which let in light/views. Hike/mountain bike along the trails with out the crowds. Less than a block from Nelson meadow, store, & Saloon. 5 Min from Belknap Grove. Explore the Trail of 100 Giants, Dome rock, Needles rock, Tule and upper Kern Rivers.
The space
•The Outdoor Space (where you always want to be):
The porch encompasses the front of the cabin with amazing views of Camp Nelson and Slate Mountain and has multiple chairs and porch swing along with an outdoor gas heater. There is also a small bistro table and stools perfect for sitting and drinking coffee, wine, etc. The small deck to the side has a gas BBQ, more chairs and a table for outdoor dining which is a must if the weather permits! You can also enjoy your morning coffee or beverage of choice from the hot tub and take in the magnificent view. During the Fall the over 100 year old apple and pear trees are bearing fruit so feel free to pick some.

Parking and Driveway
There is parking next to the cabin for a maximum of 2 vehicles. The upper driveway is steep but do not drive in SNOW CONDITIONS ONLY. Chains are required during winter months in the mountains.
Please know that there may be wildlife such as bears and deer occasionally on the premises. No trash should be left outside.

THINGS TO KNOW

- Chains May Be Required in Winter months
- Must be able to use stairs
- The Cabin is located in Sequoia National Monument (not park). The best part about this is that there are actually no cabins in Sequoia National Park, they are all down about an hour away from the big trees. There are many local trails that have Giant Sequoias. Please note that during the winter season some trails may be closed.
•EV Charger not accessible when snow is present on upper driveway.

Amazing birthday trip
This cabin was everything stated on vrbo! Incredible views, comfy beds, and the hot tub was great after a day of hiking. The drive up the mountain can seem a little treacherous in bad weather but the cabin/view is worth the drive! We did lose power our first morning there due to the blizzard/winter storm in the area, but the host was very responsive and informative about when power would be restored. Power/internet were back on when we arrived back at the cabin later that day. Overall and amazing location/trip. We will definitely be back!

Delightful cabin in the woods weekend getaway
This was one of my favorite stays i've ever done. It was my wife, my pup, and I for 4 days and we had never been to that area before. Camp Nelson is a tiny little gem. Not only is the area gorgeous with hikes all around within minutes, this cabin has the perfect view of the mountains immediately outside. Everything about the cabin was lovely from the hot tub to the oatmeal in the kitchen, down to the fireplace. We really enjoyed ourselves. My only word of advice to the owners would be to not have guests be responsible for taking trash with them and find a place to put it. We had a few hour drive home on a Tuesday, and the two dumping stations that were recommended were closed for us, so we sort of had to have the trash in our car for a bit, which wasn't great. They do a great job of mentioning this in the house rules, but that doesn't necessarily make it a good guest experience to be on the hook for. Other than that, perfect experience. You won't regret staying here.

Nice and remote
It’s a nice place with beautiful views. Host was communicative. We tried to get back to the cabin before dark every night due to the road conditions, but playing with Lincoln logs, card games, and enjoying the hot tub in the evenings was nice. As noted in the property description, many roads were still closed and most Sequoias in the area were inaccessible. The road leading up to the cabin (recently opened back up to renters) was partially washed out and was being worked on during our stay. If you are looking for a remote getaway, this is a great place to stay.

Great Getaway
Great change of pace to the busy hustle and bustle of the city. The area is very peaceful and quiet. The cabin is clean, cute and cozy. The kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook meals if you need. The balcony and deck area are a great place for your morning coffee while you enjoy the beautiful mountain view. The Pierpoint Bar and Grill is a great place just 5 minutes away for a meal. They also have a general store with snacks and drinks which is pretty convenient! The hot tub is very clean and has an awesome view of the mountain. It’s excellent after a long day of exploring the outdoors or if you plan to have a chill day at the cabin! You may even catch some deer passing through!

Ideal getaway
Fantastic views, great location, very comfortable and some luxuries! We had a great stay and were very comfortable inside as the snow tumbled down outside. Walking distance to the giant sequoia's, it was a great to experience the giants with no other people around. We would stay again.
