About this property
Enjoy this brand-new and luxurious villa located just 100m from Araçaipe beach!
Casa Marlene provides privacy, security and luxury at the very best location on the Bahian coast! Early morning, take a dip in the 9-meter pool and appreciate the sound of the birds. After a warm shower, take a walk down the road to the Sorella bakery to get some fresh Brazilian cheese bread, croissants, freshly pressed orange juice. You can buy anything else there that you might need in the convenience store. Back at the villa, make a coffee with the Nespresso machine, fry some eggs and have breakfast with your friends and family at the round table by the pool. After breakfast, some members of your party may wish to do some work and use the desk at the back of the house. All bedrooms have a solid wifi-connection as well as an ethernet connection for heavy-duty requirements, so you can work or stream video from anywhere. Some of you may wish to go for a morning walk on Araçaipe beach. To access the beach, walk down the path on the other side of the road. You will be on the beach in less than three minutes. Walking North towards the river you will pass mansions, condominiums, beachclubs - all peaceful and quiet - and have a view on the ocean. Depending on the time, you will see one or more Hawaiian canoes cutting through the waves. You can join them the next day at six am or four pm if you like! Walking South, you will see the rising hill on which the town of Arraial d'Ajuda (Camp of help) was built. A charming town with restaurants, bars and shops on and around the Church square, Broadway and Mucugé. After your walk and perhaps dip in the ocean, drive up to the village. Use one of the shuttle vans that you simply flag down in front of the property for a few R$. Or take your own hire-car that you have securely parked behind the gate. If you want to cycle or walk to the village, remember it is on a hill and requires a climb! Once in the town, have a coffee and cake at Café Santo on the beautiful Church square, get yourself some handmade artisan goods at Emporio Nordeste or go straight for lunch at Portinha or Rabanète. You will love the salads at Rabanète and the barbeque at Portinha. After lunch, the beach is always a good place to go, Pitinga is spectacular and also Taipe is wonderful if slightly further out. Bring your kids to Arraial Eco Parque for an afternoon in the pool and down the waterslides is also an excellent destination. At the end of a busy day, come back to the villa, where the evening lights have automatically switched on. Use the tap next to the garden gate to wash the sand of your feet or jump under the ''teapot'' for a more thorough rinse! If you want a shower with some more privacy, use the bathroom behind the house. Warm showers are inside. A good place to enjoy a drink is upstairs under our a large veranda. You can watch some of your friends and family prepare the BBQ for dinner from there. After dinner, it is time for games on the long solid wood table inside for some and a movie on the 75-inch UHD Samsung Smart TV for others. Coll down the room with one of the six quiet LG air-conditioning units before going to sleep.

About the host
Hosted by Paul Beijer

We are a Dutch and Brazilian gay couple and we live in The Hague, the Netherlands. We always dreamt of having a place in Brazil to call home and finally visited our friend in Arraial D'Ajuda before the pandemic. We fell in love with Arraial D'Ajuda and Bahia. Of course, a lot of it has to do with the natural beauty, the food and the way of life. But we are so enchanted with the people. We made lifelong friends and it is them we want to come back to time and again.
Why they chose this property
The location is second to none and combines the best of all worlds. If are we in a tourist mood, we simply walk to the best restaurants and beach clubs of Arraial and enjoy ourselves. If we want to stay fit, we walk outside our porch and join the other runners on the Estrada da Balsa towards the ferry and back. If we want to get to the village, that is just a five-minute drive and easy to reach with a shuttle bus or our own car. Just as easily, we walk to private houses in the neighborhood to see our friends or meet up in private restaurants some of the residents have created on their porch and in their garden....
What makes this property unique
Most people are amazed by the quality of the decoration. Much of the artwork is made by one of the owners: photographer Joāo Prates. Some of it is from local artists, including the local Indian tribe. Most of the furniture was designed by interior architect Nicielle Prates (yes, she is family!) from Sāo Paulo and built by handpicked craftsmen in the city of Paraupebas in the state of Pará. The use of prime cedar wood throughout the house gives it an especially warm atmosphere. A carefully designed light plan, high-quality fabrics, hand made carpeting (sisal) and walls painted in light greens and blues give the property a finish many visitors appreciate. It is also rare for a house in a condo to have its own large private pool, especially in this area. Casa Marlene has a nine-meter-long pool!
