About this property
Bright and lovely c.1815
This artist-owned house is on a quiet street very close to the center of Peterborough. The two-stories of living space are airy and spacious, with artwork, books and amenities to provide style and comfort.
The space
Up a few stairs, the lush yard and screened-in porch provide an instant oasis. The mud room gives access to the main house. Off the foyer are a sunny sitting room, open kitchen, large living room with TV and a desk/office alcove, cozy dining room, and 1/2 bath. Upstairs, off the landing are a full bath and two large bedrooms. The king bedroom has the washer/dryer closet as well as plenty of space for your things. The queen (with additional twin bed) has a view of Mt. Monadnock.
The two-stories of our home were originally a c. 1815 boarding house on the site where the current Mariposa Museum is, downtown on Main St; the building was rolled up that street in 1845 and placed on a new foundation, which has since been converted into a separate apartment.
Guest access
Guests have use of the garage and private yard.
Other things to note
The upstairs ceiling height is variable, most of it 6'7", and at its lowest 6'4" (it's an old house!), with a higher peak over the king bed (see photo).
Blackout shades in both bedrooms.
This is not a thru street so traffic is minimal, with the exception of twice-daily bus runs during the school year from the nearby elementary school.
