About this property

Idyllic, mins to I-75 & Dalton NEW to VRBO, 5 star reviews, trails nearby

We are an established STR with 5 star reviews and have recently expanded our listing to include VRBO!

Nestled beside Nat'l forest land & features a creek running through the property. A peaceful country getaway for outdoor lovers. Relax far from noise & crowds but close to city amenities. Enjoy scenic views, the large backyard and observing the farm animals. Close proximity to numerous hiking, biking and horse trails. Parking available for trucks and trailers.

Located near Dalton and Lafayette, GA while Chattanooga, TN is a short drive away. The driveway crosses the year round flowing stream. Conveniently access the house via key lock box for self check in. Entrance is through the back door, next to 2 car parking area.

As part of the open floor plan, the den has comfy leather sofa and leather loveseat with a swivel chair. Watch the smart TV or play board games. There is a tower fan for extra cooling during summer and an electric fireplace for cozy extra heat.

Also part of the openness is the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is well equipped with all the major appliances: full size refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave and dishwasher. There is plenty of counter space. Along with the essentials of baking sheets, pots/pans, dishes, cutlery, drinking and wine glasses, cooking utensils, you'll also find toaster, blender, crock pot and glass casserole dishes. Spices, oil, plastic wrap, foil, zip lock bags, plastic containers, chip clips, toothpicks, etc.

For coffee lovers, there is a dual pod or pot coffeemaker. Host provided coffee, sugar, creamer and non sugar sweeteners. Either of the decks is a lovely area for morning java sipping!

The dining area offers the option of barstools at the bistro table for four or along the bar. The table can also be used for card and game playing with your family and/or friends.

The large backyard offers a hammock, disc golf basket, fire pit (wood provided) and bean bag toss boards available. The front of the home faces the mountain to offer the best view. That deck has a gas grill and 4 person dining table.

While outside, enjoy observing the hobby horse farm and be sure to ask hosts to escort you on a walk along the Mill Creek and a visit with the donkeys and horses.

Also, for our MTB guests, there is a multi bike wash stand (with outdoor lighting). And a lockable storage shed, that will accommodate up to 6+ bikes with interior light and electrical outlet for charging E-bikes.

The master bedroom offers a queen size bed with memory foam topper, bedside tables with lamps, USB charging ports, noise machine, small tower fan and ceiling-fan light fixture. There is a dresser with Roku TV. Small walk in closet with full length mirror, short and long hanging options, extra pillows, blankets, and folding luggage rack. The ensuite bathroom has tub/shower combo. With many host provided amenities including bath bombs for a relaxing tub soak. First aid kit is in the under sink cabinet.

The guest room offers twin beds with memory foam toppers, bedside table with lamp, USB charging port, noise machine, tower fan and small TV (with Roku). The closet has short hanging shelves and extra pillows and blanket.

Just a few steps away is the common bathroom with tub/shower combo and extra amenities: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, spare toothbrush & toothpaste, hair dryer, make up remover towels and wipes, hair turban and pony tail holders.

Bedrooms and accompanying bathrooms are on opposite ends, allowing for extra privacy.

The laundry area has full size washer and dryer. With host provided supplies. And in the shelving above dryer, you will find umbrella and "junk" towels because the great outdoors and its activities can be a bit messy! LOL

The adjacent parking area is designed for 2 vehicles. However, the connecting driveway will accommodate trucks and trailers. Additionally, there is pasture with water available for any equine travelers, contact hosts for rates.

History tidbit: If you search the property on internet maps, you will notice odd curved and straight imagines in the ground. Some look like a Christmas tree ornament! Those are actually concrete strips. Our location was home to the original Cantrell Skeet and Trap Shoot, founded in 1970. The gun club was closed decades ago and the property changed owners until almost 25 years ago. When we arrived! the current bike shed is an add on to the only still standing clay target "pigeon" tower.

Other things to note:

Guests must climb small sets of steps at front and back entrances to access house.

MMC is part of a hobby horse-farm with potential for noise (mostly on weekend days), and activity as horses are fed each evening.

The rural area also means no streetlights and relatively darkness; a security light and abundant lighting in the parking area and door entrance are provided.

Blink cameras are installed at parking area.

This is a rural wilderness setting with such wildlife as skunks, snakes and deer, and insects. Coyotes can also sometimes be heard at a distance. We have an exterminator service on a regular schedule, but due to country setting, you may experience occasional pests.

Surprise visit
Our stay was very relaxing. We enjoyed the view and the peaceful area. Krista was very accommodating. Anything we needed was already in the house. Felt very secure and safe in the area. We had our granddaughter with us and Krista took the time to add a few extras just for her! Thank you again Krista for making our time in Ga so nice. Cathy and family

Delightful stay
Krista was an amazing host! She checked in several times to make sure we were on and didn’t need anything. The place has a homey feel. Decor is really cute! The house is very well stocked as far as kitchen utensils. The bathrooms are well stocked with plenty of towels (nice ones), and there are lots Iof spare blankets. Great place to stay! 5 stars for sure!!

About the host

Host profile image
My early childhood years were spent in Atlanta, GA. Moved to NWGA as a teenager. Fell in love with country life! We adore our little slice of heaven and thought we should share it with others who might also enjoy it. So, we became STR hosts in early 2022. We have met some wonderful people. And it has been a pleasant experience, for the most part. LOL

Why they chose this property

As a weekend hobby farm, we had horses of our own for several decades. We now offer our pastures as a boarding facility for other nearby horse owners. We still like the sounds and views of livestock on our property. Since we are bordered on 2 sides by nat'l forest, it offers us some privacy and a wonderful scenic outdoor setting.

What makes this property unique

As mentioned above, we are bordered on 2 sides by national forest land. This protects us from other homes and buildings. Helping to preserve that in virtually every direction you look is just the majesty of nature and the great outdoors. All the homes face the mountain for the optimal views. And are situated a good distance off the main road. PEACEFUL!

And we are located near many hiking, biking and horse riding trails. The Pinhoti Trail runs across the top of the mountain on the east side of our property.

We are a perfect fit If you're looking for a get away to the country (but still close to city amenities),
