Luxury & Comfort By Lakes Of Killarney - ideal for large families or groups

We are back after a bit of a break and are offering our beautiful architecturally built home to guests for summer 2026!

The house is within walking distance to the National Park and 5 minutes drive from Killarney town centre. It has been finished to a very high standard, is spacious, bright and warm and, despite being a large house, retains a cosy atmosphere. Although it is quite modern, the house has a country classic look which makes it very comfortable. There is underfloor heating throughout giving a constant temperature all year round. The large windows make the whole house very bright and allow guests to enjoy the wonderful garden and it’s private setting even from indoors.

The 5 bedrooms each have a unique style and feel and the living spaces are spacious and have many areas for guests to enjoy.

On offer to our guests are:

Living:

Entrance Hall- spacious and welcoming with it's beautiful curved staircase and gallery,

Kitchen/Dining Room - open plan, with everything for the amateur chef including a 7 ring gas stove with three ovens and a large handmade dining table made from reclaimed wood, easily seating 8-10 people and looking out across the entire back garden.

Living Room - open to the kitchen, this is a large, high ceilinged room, with an L-shaped couch, Smart TV and a beautiful gas stove to cosy up the evenings. Our 6ft Pool table makes for a fun game for all ages.

Sitting Room – elegant evening room with a HD projector and cinema screen for the home theatre.

Laundry room – with washing machine, dryer and freezer.

Master Bedroom 1 - Super King size Bed, high ceilings and ensuite.
Bedroom 2 - Super King size Bed, high ceilings
Bedroom 3 - 2 single beds.
Bedroom 4 -1 Double bed
Downstairs Bedroom 5 - King bed and TV.

Baby cot and highchair etc. available on request.

Bathrooms: There are 3 bathrooms

Master Ensuite - with a separate walk-in shower and double spa bath.
Family Bathroom - with separate walk-in shower and steel bath.
Downstairs Bathroom - with walk-in shower, adjacent to downstairs bedroom.

Gardens:

A large, well established garden surrounds the house with many beautiful birch and willow trees. There is a ‘fairy ring’ and a fire pit good for a bonfire as well as a barbeque on the Patio. The established trees and many and varied plants bring much colour to the garden throughout the year.

For your convenience, the final clean as well as all utilities are covered in the rates.

Though quiet and rural, in an area of Ireland famed for the beauty of its mountains and lakes, the house is also close to all the amenities of the bustling town of Killarney.

The ideal retreat for families, golfers, hikers and bikers, cyclists, adventurers, fishermen, artists and of course anyone interested in history, culture and music and general good Irish craic!

Great place for families

After a week traveling around Ireland, the Scartlea House was a great resting place for a group of 6 adults and two children. The large back garden was a perfect place to stretch and play and the house is close to everything in Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. Beautiful, clean place!

Great vacation home in idyllic Irish setting

We stayed here with our extended family and were surprised by how spacious the house is. The photos don’t do it justice! All of the rooms are gorgeous! We enjoyed every minute of our 7-day stay and were sad to leave.

Heavenly House in Killarney

Our group of family and friends thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Scartlea and we hope to return again soon! Fiona was an inviting host and she responded to our questions and needs promptly. The spacious house was beautifully appointed and the kitchen had everything the gourmet cooks in the group needed. And, it was a great location ~ five minutes from town in a quiet neighborhood. We highly recommend staying here!

Excellent home for an extended family or group

Scartlea House is an excellent place for an extended family or group to stay when touring Co Kerry. The owners (Fiona & Robert) are very organized. Their housekeeper (Gina) is also very responsive to any issue that might arise. The yard has a play set and play house (and toys) that can keep young kids happy when adults just want to socialize.

Thank you for sharing your amazing home with us. A perfect house to stay with friends and family. Kitchen is extremely large and well equipped. The backyard and patio area is big and a perfect place to sit and relax. It's beautifully decorated and wifi worked great. The only one comment we would have is it's further than a 5 minute drive to city center. Would stay there again!

We had an amazing stay at this property. The pictures do not do the property justice! Large home on a large and beautiful piece of property near Killarney. The house was well equipped with everything needed to have a nice stay. Appliances, linens, and dishes were new. They have a really nice espresso/coffee machine as well! Would recommend this home to anyone, we are hoping to be able to return!

The house and garden are beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Everything was clean and there were clear written instructions given on the use of the house as well as ideas and information on places to visit nearby. The fresh scones were an especially nice touch. The only things lacking were shampoo, a hair dryer (we really needed one) and power adapters/converters.

Wonderful memories made at Scartlea House!

Scartlea House was everything we had hoped it would be. Our family of six even ended up staying an extra day and forwent our plans to travel elsewhere. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms were beautifully appointed and the kitchen was fully equipped! The gardens were impeccable and we took full advantage of the fire pit, enjoying cocktails in the beautiful Irish open air before grilling steaks! The location is perfect for seeing a vast number of beautiful sites. We hope to someday return to Ireland, and allow a little more time at Scartlea House!

Beautiful home!

We were a multi-generational group visiting from the US, and this house was perfect for 9 adults, and 2 small children. There is a well-stocked kitchen, playroom with toys, and a wonderful outdoor playhouse and swing set. The house is close to town, and to the park, so the location is perfect. The owners were very helpful with recommendations for dining and activities. All of the appliances were in good working order, the beds very comfortable, and the bathrooms were in excellent working order, with good water pressure, & generous numbers of towels for each person. The photos of this house are an honest representation, but I would say that the house is more lovely in person, with skylights and windows everywhere.

Amazing Home. A must rental for a family or two traveling together.

We highly recommend this home. We were two families with a total of 10 traveling together. We have rented vacation homes for years and this home was spotless!!! The baked goods we found upon our arrival were perfect after so many hours of travel. You will not be disappointed with anything in this home. All pictures you see are true to what you will find upon your arrival. If anything the pictures don't show just how beautiful the front and backyard were. The house has tons of space for a large group to spread out after traveling together, and has the perfect kitchen table for a large group for meals and games. We loved the location of this home. Awesome family stay in Killarney!

Thanks to Fiona and Rod Stewart for sharing their gorgeous home with us! We were two couples and four 20-somethings for 3 nights in Killarney in the middle of our Ireland adventure. The home was truly a luxury accommodation with plenty of room for everyone to spread out, both inside and out. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms were well appointed with all the amenities you'd expect. The kitchen and patio were both perfect for big dinners at home and the large farm table saw many hours of family time. The home was in a quiet area that allowed for true relaxation while still be close to town and all the fun. The taxi companies all knew where to find us when we told them we were staying at Scartlea House. We had a great time and would love to come back and spend more time in the Killarney area, there's still so much we didn't see.

Great house in a great location

Lovely house, as well as beautiful grounds. Lots of room so that even with a large group you won't get into each other's way. The large kitchen table is great for sitting down to breakfast together or playing games in the evening. The kitchen is well equipped and it's very convenient to have a washer and dryer just off the kitchen. We had two cars and there is ample space for parking. The location was very good, close to Kilarney town and to Kilarney National Park, with easy access to the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle pennisula. The most difficult thing was finding the house the first time. While Fiona's directions were very good, I recommend also entering the house GPS coordinates into your phone or using Waze to find it.

Incredible home with more than enough room for a large family, with a wonderful kitchen ready for meal preparation and enjoying. We are a family of four - we built this house as our family home and have spared no expense on it, also investing lots of time, effort and love in making it the perfect house. We hope you will love it as we do.

Why they chose this property

Although not locals (Fiona from Cork and Rod from Australia) we have always had a special place in our heart for beautiful Killarney and even chose to get married here - we settled here in 2009 when we were lucky enough to buy this amazing spot and build our dream house on it - we love being so close to spectacular nature but also the proximity to so many activities, restaurants, bars and shops, not to mention the amazing Golf Courses.
This town is wonderful for any age group and for almost every interest and our home is close enough to make the most of everything while still being in a rural setting so we have the best of both worlds.

What makes this property unique

Architecturally designed, the house has - Large open plan rooms with high ceilings, underfloor heating throughout, beautiful big windows overlooking the established private garden.
We have put in the highest standard of appliances and interiors and although practical, the house has an elegant and luxurious atmosphere and somehow also has a cosy and traditional feel to it.
We especially love the trees and the garden as well as our curved stairway and gallery and our opulent evening Sitting Room with its cinema screen. The children have plenty of space to run around and can play safely in the garden.
