Refreshing getaway
The property was the perfect place to stay and relax after spending the days paddle boarding at Raystown Lake. Great rural setting to unwind and the kids loved fishing in the pond and swimming in the pool.

About the host

Hosted by Bruce or Lydia Lane

Host profile image
We have lived here since we were married. It was Bruce's home place & we fell in love with the residents, the landscape, & the entire area. Bruce dairy-farmed untill he was called to the Army. When he returned he again farmed for a while. We started & raised our family. He was employed by a local business working swing shift .Lydia is an RN, full time employed except a few years when our boys were young. We thouroughly loved what we did . We were both in active PR jobs, used to meeting people. Now we enjoy meeting new people & helping them enjoy part of what enticed us to become owners of vacation rental.Bruce delights in talking of the local history & gives interesting tours of the area along with tid-bits of lore assocciated with Huntingdon County

Why they chose this property

We purchased the farm from our mother so we could see others enjoy & treat our properity as their own. This home was on a land -grant from William Penn . Built in 1789 with many continuous renters & owners. Some added to it's beauty, some deterred from it. Now The Lane's Country Homestead stands as a historical beauty. Come & see . Anytime you wish to tour give us a call & if it is available, we will be glad to show it.We are very proud of what it has now become.

What makes this property unique

We meet such a variity of families, Living from different directions in the United States, from various localities & cultures. Most all the children are well behaved & we can imagine the family teaching, helping & enjoying them. Family means so much! We enjoy the early morning ritual of coffee, tea ,meditation, & guessing the weather for the day under our gazebo on the patio. We enjoy the farm fields, mowing grass & garden work. Our real fun time is riding our 4 wheeler s up in the wooded areas.Bruce is ecstatic when it begins to snow.! He delights in hopping onto his tractor to plow the driveways clear.
