About this property
Luxury Log Cabin on private, 25 acre wooded lot - minutes from Raystown Lake
Spacious log home close to Raystown Lake - sleeps up to 10
If you’re ready for a great getaway or family vacation, this is your place! Built in 2017, Bear Bottom is a 2,700 sq ft log home nestled at the base of a mountain near James Creek, PA, and centered between Seven Points Marina and Raystown Lake Resort (10 min drive to each) and just minutes from Aitch boat launch! The home sits on a private, 25 acre wooded property overlooking a pond. Gather around the fire pit to tell stories, roast hot dogs, or make S'mores. Guests can enjoy relaxing in one of the rocking chairs on the wrap around porch/deck with picturesque views. You may even catch a glimpse of turkey, deer, bear, birds and more! Try your luck fishing for blue gills and large-mouth bass in the pond. If you’re up for a small hike up the mountain, at the corner of the property, adjacent to the Pennsylvania State Game Land, you can see the lake in the distance.
Inside, you'll find three floors. The main floor is open concept with cathedral ceilings in the living area, maple hardwood floors, gas fireplace, half bath, laundry room, dining room, and spacious kitchen with breakfast nook. You will also find the carpeted master bedroom and a private bath with Jacuzzi tub and spa-inspired, stone floor shower. The second floor has a loft with beautiful views outside the large windows (great for quiet reading). There are three additional bedrooms on the second floor - two Queen beds and one Bunk Bed (Queen & Full), along with a full bath/shower. One of the bedrooms includes a private balcony area! In the basement (unfinished), you will find a ping-pong table, Foosball, air hockey, and corn hole boards.
If you enjoy outdoor adventures, Bear Bottom is minutes from Raystown Lake. The lake's Seven Points Marina area offers beach swimming, picnicking, boating, mountain biking, and much more! Take a morning hike on the Allegrippis Trails or at Trough Creek State Park. You can even kayak on the Juniata River. In nearby Huntingdon, you will find Lincoln Caverns, several great restaurants, and home to Juniata College. Those who venture a bit further can find attractions like Delgrosso's Amusement Ride/Water Park, Altoona Curve Baseball, Penn State Football, and several shopping centers.

Why they chose this property
Bear Bottom Cabin is nestled near the base of a mountain that separates Blair and Huntingdon Counties. We chose this location to build our log home as a central point for friends and family to gather and to enjoy the surrounding wildlife. Upon purchasing the property in 2013, we came across a black bear den towards the bottom of the mountain and have occasionally seen the bear on the property; hence, why we named the cabin "Bear Bottom." In addition to the black bear, we've seen whitetail deer, turkeys, bobcats, squirrels, rabbits, and several bird species from the comfort of the porch/deck area or looking out the large windows.
Nearby Raystown Lake, Juniata River, and Trough Creek State Park all offer fun activities for outdoor adventures and activities, while not being too far from Huntingdon for groceries, shopping, and restaurants. Our family is happy to share our home so you and your family & friends can enjoy and make memories!
