A character home Located in the heart of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada. Guests are sure to enjoy a memorable stay in this fully furnished home. Gracious first floor with modern kitchen, dining area, living room, and den.Wide baseboards, hardwood floors and lead glass windows. The house has a fully renovated modern kitchen, two new bathrooms, and a new back deck with gas BBQ. Relax in the treed back yard, play lawn games ( games provided ) or toast marshmallows on the fire pit ( wood provided ). You will be glad you chose this over a hotel. We have

We love animals and Pets certainly are negotiable.

The area is great for walking, friendly neighbours, old established trees in the yards, sidewalks, and off street parking. Walking distance to downtown area or a 5 minute drive to the malls if you are so inclined. Golf, beaches, skiing are all within reasonable distances. If you are a foodie make sure to check out the Italian, Sault Ste Marie has great restaurants that you won't find anywhere else.

Note - we have a long term rental till October 2025 and have decided to sell. You will see that the calendar is blocked - but we are opening up months in anticipation of buyer having time to finance, inspect etc. So please check in periodically to see if we have opened up dates that you would like to reserve. It's been a great 12 years - met lots of super interesting guests. Stay safe. Jim

Lovely home in nice neighborhood, dog friendly! Can walk to some downtown attractions. Nearby restaurants were great. Loved the historic nature of the home. Very quaint and comfortable and Jim was an excellent host.

Wonderful stay and family time!

Wonderful place to stay! Has everything you need and more! Visiting the Sault to attend a wedding and were able to bring our family together for a wonderful visit for a few days. From a backyard fire with smores, cooking together in the well equipped kitchen, or just hanging out, the home provided us with all we needed and more. Jim is a wonderful host! Highly recommend!

Wonderful

I stayed here twice. The host met me, was welcoming, showed me around then gave me privacy for the duration. This place is clean, safe, with a warm atmosphere and has everything a traveller needs. The neighbourhood is friendly and is a safe place to walk your dog and admire all the well kept character houses. The breakfast basket is a lovely addition to a great stay. I highly recommend and will stay here again if I’m in the area.

Fall Vacation

My husband and I enjoyed such a delightful welcome. There was our kind of 60s music playing when we arrived and a splendid arrangement of charcuterie delights. I was very impressed with the super clean floors and Jim had the BBQ ready to use with an extra propane tank. Sandy's artwork throughout the house was a delight to view. My husband and I look forward to coming back again some time in the future.

Our favourite home away from home

This is our third stay at this home and we wouldn't stay anywhere else when travelling to Sault Ste. Marie! The Burt's are excellent hosts, always responsive and helpful. The house is a beautiful old heritage home, well-decorated, very comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and two very nice bathrooms. It is in a perfect location, close to downtown and anything you might need. We highly recommend this home and location to anyone travelling to the Sault! You won't be disappointed.

Clean, safe and comfortable stay

Great location in the Soo on a quiet, residential street with other families. We travelled during phase 3 of the pandemic and the home had soap and sanitizer in bathrooms and kitchen and the homeowner even left disposable masks for our use. The custom wine, muffins and extra touches were so thoughtful. We felt comfortable and safe staying here. And Jim was fantastic! Can’t wait to return.

Never Stay in A Hotel in the Sault Again!

This property is easy to get to, if you are new to the Sault just know it is a sharp left turn on to Ontario at a funny little intersection. All the amenities one could ever ask for!! Having owner next door is a real plus! We will come again this place is spacious and lots of everything! Our second easy booking! Great for having people over too, LOVE THE VERANDA !

A warm and welcoming home

This is the best HomeAway/VRBO property that I have experienced, and there have been quite a few. The owner's father was especially welcoming and helpful to us. We stayed here in mid-December and we arrived to find a warm and inviting place to stay. The beds were excellent, as were the linens and towels. The kitchen is very well-equipped, and the bathrooms and laundry were excellent as well. There were four of us, and there was plenty of room. The neighborhood is charming and alive in all the right ways. I would stay here again, without any hesitation.

great family time!

We (7 adults,1 child & 1 baby) chose this house over using 3 hotel rooms so we could have some private, together times, while up in the Soo for a family funeral. The obvious reason is the cost of the hotel for 4 nights, along with all the meals that would have to be eaten in restaurants. We did order in some meals, but the convenience of having a fridge & stove to prepare our own was wonderful. It is a beautiful, well-appointed house, with room for all of us. We will definitely come back. And, Sandy's paintings throughout are very beautiful! Thanks Jim, Sandy & Kristy

We came for the Agawa Train

We came for the Agawa Train tour and we’re not disappointed. House was perfect and met all of our needs both in location and amenities. We stayed 5 days to take in other sights. And of course the food. Having heard friends rave about the pizza / it was definitely on the list of “musts”. It was very good, but to be a little antagonist if there is a battle between Windsor pizza and Soo pizza / I hate to admit it’s Windsor for me. Not saying it wasn’t awesome….just a personal preference (please don’t tell my friends forom the Soo). In all seriousness, Thai was an great place to stay and would highly recommend for anyone wanting to explore Sault St Marie and the surrounding area.

Excellent property and host

Jim went out of his way to make us comfortable and ensure our stay was worry free and smooth. The neighborhood is quiet residential. The home is very well appointed with many amenities. Would book this again in a heartbeat if we return to the Sault.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our host met us at the door and gave us a tour of the home and how everything worked. So welcoming with a beautiful display of fruit muffins and wine that we thoroughly enjoyed. We would definitely stay here again! We met Thunder Bay gave us train ride. Perfect home for us.
