About this property
WATER FRONT , Private lodge and 3 cabins sitting on the Shore of Moosehead Lake
Breathtaking views 10' from the lake overlooking Mt. Kineo. This family compound sits on the scenic shore of Moosehead Lake which is one of the largest lakes east of the Mississippi. Sleeps 10 with 2 baths and one shower house and new solar panels as of June 2025 ( just in case you see comments about having to charge with a lot of use. This is no longer the case) Whether you are looking to relax amongst the tall pines or looking for a bit more adventure such as fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, ATV, hiking, biking, watching moose or boating and ice fishing - Moosehead has it all!
Our family compound is off the grid and consists of a main lodge and 3 cabins which were originally built for use as a boys camp in the early 1900's. They have been tastefully updated maintaining the charm of yesterday but included today's modern amenities such as internet. The landscaping and furnishings are magazine worthy.
This is the perfect setting for a family reunion or just a get together with friends.
The cabins are not rented separately so if you were to rent the entire compound would be included in your reservation. The layout consists of a main lodge with a master bedroom (king bed) and second bedroom with bunkbeds, bath, full kitchen and dining room. A second camp with two twin beds and a small kitchen and bath and two other sleeping cabins. One with bunk beds and the other with a queen bed. There is also a new outdoor shower.
There are so many mountains in the Moosehead Lake region, it is difficult to highlight them all. Among the most popular hikes of the Rockwood area are Mount Kineo . When reaching the top a hiker can take in the astounding panoramic views of the distant ranges. There is a pebble beach at the base which offers the perfect setting for a picnic lunch.
For those of you looking to rent a boat there is a marina within 5 miles away where you can rent a boat. A boat can be rented and brought right up to our dock for your stay. Canoe and two kayaks are on site.
Although you feel you are away from it all the town of Greenville Maine is just 20 miles away where you will find a quaint general store, several restaurants and food trucks, tackle shops, boat rental marinas, ice cream shops and an old fashioned candy store, gift shops and a hospital. There is also a convenience store and restaurant just a couple miles away from the lodge.
If you are looking for a mellow, off the grid retreat this is perfect. The main renter must be 25 or older and must be staying at the property. Must be responsible guests who will respect the property and neighbors.

My husband and I grew up in Connecticut and moved to Maine in 2000. Moosehead Lake was one of the first places we traveled to during our first summer here and we fell in love.
From our first trip to the lake, we have always dreamed about buying a family compound on the water. Every year as we travel to different Lakes we always look at what is available to purchase. We have a lot of family so ultimately thought that finding a family compound would be ideal.
When we found this property we knew it was rare. So private, on the lake, and a perfect place to invite family where everyone could have their own sleeping quarters.

Why they chose this property
Moosehead is a very special place. The Lake is the perfect location for people looking for a unique outdoor experience. The region is often referred to as 'God's Country' by locals.
Moosehead is largest lake east of the Mississippi contained in one state. A home to nature lovers looking for a secluded getaway. There a so many activities to keep you busy year round ranging from fishing, hunting, camping, white water rafting, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, exploring, skiing, snowmobiling, golfing, sailing, photography, viewing wildlife or just taking in the natural beauty of the region.
This camp is the perfect place for our two boys to spend their summer. During the day we fish, swim, take drives to go moose hunting or the camps are also within 20 miles of the quaint town of Greenville, Maine which has many restaurants, shops and a local hospital. The boys love the vintage candy store and getting ice-cream.
At night we love to cook so we bbq outside, sit on the dock and fish or read a good book by the fire.
