The Neighborhood:
If you're in search of the perfect part of the city to explore, consider El Medano Ejidal. Beachcombers can spend the day at Medano Beach when the weather is nice. Other popular sights worth a visit include Marina Del Rey.
El Medano Ejidal is located 0.7 mi (1.1 km) from the heart of Cabo San Lucas.
What to See in Town:
Marina Del Rey:
Marina Cabo San Lucas is a modern facility strategically located at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula. Ideally situated at the mouth of the Sea of Cortez, this marina in Cabo San Lucas welcomes fishermen, cruisers, sailors, and yachtsmen. Accommodating yachts up to 357 feet with a 24-foot draft, the facility is home to a total of 380 slips, encompassed by a bustling upland, boasting restaurants, bars, high-end shops, and smaller retail stores to reach a broad array of tourism.
Medano Beach:
Medano Beach (The Dune Beach) encompasses several miles of safe swimming beach beginning at the east side of the harbor entrance to Villa del Palmar on the east end of the bay. Close to town, Playa El Médano (Medano Beach) is the main and most popular Cabo San Lucas Beach. Here, hotels, bars, and restaurants compete for space, offering all the goodies most people come to expect from a prime tourist destination.
Whether you choose an activity such as swimming, jet skiing, kayaking, waterskiing, banana boating, parasailing, and volleyball or just want to hang out and enjoy beach parties, you’re sure to have a good time here.
Lover's Beach and Lands End:
Lover’s Beach or Playa de los Amantes, is another must, but to get to this hidden cove you’ll need some kind of floating transportation. The easiest is to hire a water taxi at the marina. The captain will take you on an
informative tour of the diving areas around the arch (El Arco), point out Lover’s Beach, and then go around the popular point for a wonderful view of the dramatic area where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean. We suggest you pack a lunch of your choice and some water and plan on spending the better part of the day enjoying Lover’s Beach and the striking wind and water-shaped rock formations. Ask your skipper to come back for you at a pre-determined time… all for one price. Be most careful here, the powerful waves and currents of the
Pacific make swimming quite dangerous. Swimming and snorkeling should only be attempted on the Sea of Cortez side of Lover’s Beach.
The Arch:
The famous stone arch at Land’s End, Cabo San Lucas. El Arco, in particular, is now symbolically synonymous with Cabo San Lucas as White Cliffs with Dover or the Rock with Gibraltar. The naturally formed Arch bounded by two immense bodies of water–the Sea of Cortés and the Pacific Ocean–is a staple image on postcards and photographs, on souvenir T-shirts, shot glasses, and tequila bottles.
Things to Do:
Puerto Paraiso Mall:
Located in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, on the marina, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico Puerto Paraiso Shopping Mall is the most ambitious commercial shopping mall and entertainment center project ever constructed in the southern Baja California peninsula. When completed it will offer tourists a world of entertainment, dining, shopping, movie theaters, and lodging spread out over 50,000 square meters on three levels. Not your ordinary shopping center or mall experience, Puerto Paraiso Entertainment Plaza is designed to appeal to all ages and activity levels. Located marina-side between Plaza Bonita Mall and Marina Fiesta Resort in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, the refined Puerto Paraiso Entertainment Plaza combines indoor shopping and entertainment with cascading waterfalls, restaurants, and open areas for strolling and relaxing.
Nightlife:
Cabo San Lucas has a well-earned reputation for rowdy, uninhibited nightlife, but the after-dark action in Los Cabos is by no means restricted to the bars, clubs, and cantinas that crowd downtown San Lucas. San José del Cabo and the Tourist Corridor that connects the two cape cities also boast good-time go-to spots, ranging from microbreweries and sports bars to tequila lounges, live music venues, and late-night dance clubs. The distinguishing characteristic of the Los Cabos nightlife scene may be its seemingly unending variety. And whether your tastes run to wineries or biker bars, there are plenty of options. Beer aficionados will appreciate local microbreweries like Baja Brewing Company. Wine lovers will want to order a wine glass at The Wine Bar at Romeo and Juliet or check out the wine lists at some of the region’s best eateries.
Beachgoers will enjoy hanging out at Medano Beach standouts like Mango Deck, The Office, or Sur Beach House.
Want to keep up with the progress of your favorite football or hockey team? Stop by one of the area’s top sports bars (of which there are legions).
Los Cabos also suffers no shortage of late-night dance clubs and hard-rocking live music venues. DJs and up-tempo dance mixes rule the midnight hour at clubs like Mandala, Squid Roe, and Crush. Live music lovers, on the other hand, should look to music legends like Sammy Hagar, Gene Simmons, and Paul Stanley for guidance. Cabo Wabo Cantina has long been a fixture of the San Lucas Scene.
Ultimately, there’s only one thing they all have in common. No matter where you go, what you drink, or what you do after dark in Los Cabos, tacos taste fantastic afterward.
