Why this property?
When we selected the spot for the Grand Lodge it was initially based on location- We wanted a vacation home that was less than a two hour flight one way for a weekend vacation home
Then it was the warmer weather- It is always much warmer here than where we lived in Michigan.
Here we get seasonal temperatures to ski at Paoli Peaks, enjoy the green blossoms and mushroom hunts in spring, warm summers at Patoka Lake and beautiful foliage in the fall.
We appreciate the wooded lay of the land as a great spot to raise our own elk and grass fed beef.
The gentle rolling hills were perfect to build our personal / private golf course. Our golf course is a huge hit since it is invitation only for our friends other special clients and renters of our Main Lodge/Blanche House and our Grand lodge.
Keep in mind- this is quite possibly the worst golf course in the USA but it is quite difficult and it is very beautiful as its fairways are lined with grape vines, lavender plants, rock cliffs. One golfer described holes 3 and 4 as enchanted "Narnia." The PGA pros and caddies who stayed here in 2015 enjoyed the unique course.
Ask about. safety permits or licensing for clay pigeon shooting or rifles. Have a bon fire, play golf, fish and make some noise if you want. In nearby French Lick, there are activities of all types to keep you amused PGA golf courses, train museum and polar express, go-carting, miniature golf, big splash adventure water park, bowling and arcades, laser tag, movie theatre and a winery.
Although we are deep in the woods (The Hoosier National Forest) we are 15 minutes from a 5 star hotel and world class steak house. We feel our location is a perfect balance of remote ranch living and activities in town that compare to some of the finest attractions in other better known resort towns.
