Spacious Log Home
We had a great time in Grand Pines Lodge. It is a spacious retreat and we enjoyed the surrounding area. We went to Monticello, Highlands (James Monroe's home), the Civil War Museum at New Market (both of them), Skyline Drive, area quilt shops, restaurants in the area. We hired Chef Dan for one evening and enjoyed his culinary preparation. There were some maintenance issues. The property managers (Brian, Sara and Kim) were very responsive to these issues. All though some were not fixable in the short time we were there.
This house was ideal for our large family gathering for our daughter's wedding. Communication with the owner and the manager was easy and quick. We'd love to come back.
Thank you Amy! we are glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope you're able to return!
We had a great experience in Massanutten! Beautiful scenery, hiking trails and fun time with good friends!
This property was well above our expectations. Plenty of room to accommodate 17 family members not only with room but the extras ie towels, dishes, trash bags, detergents etc. Plenty to entertain family that didn't want to go out and explore and much to do in the area. This was our first reunion and home rental and it went beautifully. Home owners were responsive and friendly. Directions and instructions were easy to follow and payments made simple. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of hot water and temperature great. We will certainly come back.
Thanks so much, Christine! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Grand Pine! We hope your family is able to return again!
Roomy House, Needs Attention
We were excited to find this house because we needed at least 5 bedrooms and wheel chair accessibility. The private chef, was a big plus for our celebration dinner. There was plenty of space for the 11 of us. We highly anticipated a stay here and a good time with the family. It seemed perfect for us.
The experience was less than satisfactory, however, due to below average housekeeping which we noticed immediately upon our arrival. Physical maintenance was also subpar leading to a flooded lower level after a heavy rainstorm, This is the level where most of the bedrooms are located. As a result one of the bedrooms became unusable. After numerous phone calls and several emails a cleanup crew arrived to mop up and begin the drying process. Fortunately for us it was the last night of our rental.
We received no apologies nor were offered any compensation for the inconvenience.
Dear Jerry, we appreciate your feedback. Our ultimate goal is to make sure every guests stay is enjoyable and relaxing. We are glad you enjoyed Chef Dan's meal! He is wonderful. We have also addressed all other suggestions with our housekeeping and maintenance crew. We are certain this was an isolated incident and one that has been remediated. As far as the flooding, this unfortunately was unavoidable. There was a torrential rainstorm in the area that caused significant flooding widespread. We had the maintenance and cleaning crew to the house immediately and removed and cleaned up any water on the floors so there shouldn't have been an issue with using all the bedrooms on the last night of your stay. You are the first thousands of guests that have to experience any flooding in the basement. Unfortunately, it was just a major storm but we always have our maintenance staff available 24/7 for any concerns/needs. We're sorry you didn't have as positive an experience as the 70 other guest reviews, and we hope to get the opportunity to change your mind in the future.
We loved the house and enjoyed our time in Massanutten.
