About Jennifer & Danny O'Shaughnessy
We are an active family of 6 living outside of Chicago. Our four young kids LOVE this cabin in summer and winter. They have spotted moose, bears, coyotes, mule deer and foxes from the property and love roasting marshmallows in the fireplace; racing home to the hot tub on the ski-in trail; horseback riding through the nearby national forest; playing board games; and listening to live music at Whiskey Jack's at the Big Sky Resort.
Jennifer & Danny O'Shaughnessy purchased this House in 2010
Why Jennifer & Danny O'Shaughnessy chose Big Sky Resort
We came to Big Sky for the first time in 2005 and fell in love with the fantastic skiing, low-key atmosphere, proximity to Yellowstone National Park, and high alpine environment. We've skied all over the West but believe Big Sky is simply the best. We looked for a ski/ summer place for several years and finally found this wonderful cabin--cozy and a little rustic but graced with every amenity we could need while on vacation: good restaurants, lovely views, challenging hiking, crackling fireplace, bubbling hot tub, good wine, total quiet, millions of stars, and perfectly comfortable beds. We'd love to share a bit of heaven with you!

wish we could go back!
This home is incredible - you'll get the total Montana experience in this house. It is very comfortable and kitchen/baths are fully stocked. Everything is very cozy and well designed. We loved skiing in/out every day. Didn't see the neighborhood moose - bummer. Guess we'll have to come back.
Beautiful setting in Big Sky!
We had a wonderful time at this cabin. It is a nice secluded location and kept very clean.
Good cabin, conveniently located
The property was great - roomy enough for 2 families of 4, we had fun sledding right outside and playing in he snow! The cabin is conveniently located near the ski resort and some retail shops/restaurants. We were a little disappointed at first when we found several dishes in the cabinets that were not cleaned! We ended up hand-washing and scrubbing serval pieces to get them cleaned. I contacted the owner, and she said she would let the cleaning company know and told us something to try with the dishwasher and let her know if it wasn’t cleaning properly. We made sure to throughly rinse everything before putting in the dishwasher, put in 2 cleaning pods as the owner suggested, and everything came out clean from that point forward. There were also some high spots in the cabin where we noticed some cobwebs....probably a cleaning company issue. Several items stocked in the cabinet...seasonings, left over pasta, peanut butter etc. We tossed some pasta that was opened and has no expiration date on it. Again, something that could probably be addressed by the cleaning company....a thorough cleaning may be needed to get rid of some old, unused items. Other than that, we throughly enjoyed the cabin. I would warn you, though, if you are coming in from out of town, and you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle or one with chains, and the roads are icy or even snowy, you will likely need one or the other to get out of the neighborhood. We tried renting a 4 wheel drive vehicle from the airport, but none were available. It snowed, one day, and the next morning, we could not get our vehicle up the hill to get out of the neighborhood. No one had chains in Big Sky, so we called NAPA in Bozeman. They had one set left that would fit our tires. Then, we had to pay a taxi in Bozeman to deliver them to us. The chains worked great, and all was well once we had them....so, just a little FYI! 😉
We are very sorry you encountered dishes that were not clean. We strive for “wow” as you enter the cabin and we clearly missed the mark. We’ve addressed this with our cleaning crew.
As for the driving conditions, we have never heard of the problems you experienced. We have arrived in rental 4wheel drives and in subcompact cars (when that’s all the airport had). Many friends and guests have driven regular cars in winter without incident as well. The roads are plowed frequently and the driveway is plowed at dawn daily (like Camelot!). We’ve not seen cars with chains at all, only semi trucks. Perhaps the rental car was not outfitted with well-treaded snow tires? I’d ask the rental agency to cover those chains!
Comfy and fun ski place
Overall, excellent!!! With people from across the country coming out to big sky for the first time, the bar was set high. Comfortable beds, stocked kitchen, plenty of parking and warm fireplace were definitely bonuses! And Jennifer was very responsive to questions and very helpful.
The only demerit worth mentioning would be the unclear ski in directions. However, we all got a good laugh out of it afterwards and made it back to home base the second day with no problem
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home!!!

We are so glad you had a great time! Big Sky has changed their signage marking the trail home twice in the past two years. While it is easy once you know how to do it, that first day could be tricky. We marked the Big Sky signs with colored tape and left detailed directions in the welcome packet. Can you suggest something else that would help the next guest get home correctly on the first day? We'd love your input because we've done it so many times, we can't see it like a rookie just trying to get to the the hot tub! Thanks!
Great house! Perfect for two families. Amazing skiing
Had a great stay here in Feb 2019 with lots of fresh snow! Owners and the manager/caretaker were extremely responsive whenever we needed them.
Works great for two families as there are two bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs.
The house was very clean with quality sheets, bedding and towels and the kitchen was well stocked.
The house is well maintained - Guys came by regularly to shovel snow from the deck area by the grill and hot tub. Pool maintenance guys came by to check chemicals in the hot tub.
Ski out was easy - just walk between two houses next door but ski in was a little tricky the first time but then we got it.
The kids loved the hot tub on the deck after a days skiing!
Also, for a fee you can join the moonlight basin club which we loved. Nice bar and restaurant to ski into for lunch or apres ski, outdoor pool and hot tub, gym, s’mores by the fire pit, ice skating, fat biking and tubing by their yurt at the lake.
Great Cabin with surprisingly easy access to slopes.
Bedroom configuration was great for our three families, kid bunk room was key! Plenty of space and all is user friendly.
One hour from Yellowstone National Park, world-class fly fishing on the Gallatin River, hiking, biking, rafting, climbing and nordic and alpine skiing
