Perfect Private Getaway!
We were hoping for a quiet, private do-nothing getaway and we found everything we could have hoped for at this property. It is secluded and definitely off the beaten path which provides a peaceful setting & big, non-lit sky. We even had a light snowfall that made for a perfect walk through the property's pine & hardwood forest. The "lodge" has a rustic feel with lots of live-edge wood that was cut from trees original to the property and milled by nearby Amish craftsmen. It's spacious enough for more, but being just the two of us, it was super easy to stretch out and relax. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed; the building was clean, fresh and well-appointed. We also enjoyed the glazed tile art that was made & displayed by the owner. And, although he lives & has his ceramic art studio on the property, the location of the lodge was to itself & private. Our interaction with the owner was fun & insightful; his willingness for accommodation & pride in the lodge is apparent. This property is versatile for getaways or family/group gatherings. And, if you feel like learning more about pottery or tile glazing, the owner's studio is just up the hill. Thanks for providing exactly what we were hoping for!

As the owner of this property, I have been a full-time ceramic artist working here for over 40 years. Early in that time I planted 18,000 trees that are now mature. Some of those pine trees were used to create the live edge wall in the lodge.

Why they chose this property

This area is heavily wooded with rolling hills that are beautiful year-round. Many dogwood trees and wild flowers blooming in the springtime; fall color change with many varieties of deciduous trees. Well kept country roads with very little traffic are great for walks and adventures.

What makes this property unique

The original log cabin home was built in the early 1800's and was the birthplace of baseball legend Cy Young, who is buried in Peoli, a few miles down the road.
