About this property

Cosy peaceful cottage in our lovely 17th century Welsh farmyard

The Bothy, part of our 17th century Welsh farmhouse, offers a perfect base to explore beautiful rural Monmouthshire, the Brecon Beacons National Park and the ancient castles & history of the Welsh Marches.

Fully renovated in 2022 it has a spacious bedroom with a king size bed & brand new shower room. Downstairs there’s a large living room with a sofa-bed and a full kitchen. We provide freshly baked bread on arrival & home made marmalade & jam, butter, milk, tea & coffee. The pub is within easy walking distance and there's a log fire for nights in - ideal for a weekend in the country.

The space

There's a large, sunny bedroom with a king size bed upstairs and a new shower room. We provide quality cotton bed linen and sumptuous large fluffy bath towels.

Downstairs there is a spacious sitting room with a log fire and a full kitchen. There's a new sofa-bed (mattress 52"x70"), TV and we have fast broadband (50-60mbs).

We can provide a cot and all baby paraphernalia if needed (high chair, toys etc)

A large basket of logs is included, any additional are £5 per basket.
Iron and ironing board provided.

A well-behaved dog is accepted but we would ask if it can be encouraged not to go upstairs and should be kept off the furniture . We have dog bowls and old towels if you need them - just let me know what you might need.

Guest access
Guest have their own access through a porch to the cottage. Parking is in the yard next to the cottage.

We welcome guests to explore our land and woods and also to sit in and enjoy our garden with the fabulous views when the weather is good. We love to give our guests a weekend that leaves them rested and rejuvenated.

Other things to note
The very popular Hall Inn pub with good traditional food is within walking distance and a number of other good pubs and restaurants are within easy reach in Usk, Raglan and Abergavenny.

After living overseas in New York and Hong Kong for 20 years we have settled back in our family home in this 17th century farmhouse in the Welsh Marches. We enjoy welcoming guests from all over the world and showing off this little corner of rural Paradise

Why they chose this property

Monmouthshire is a beautiful and unspoilt area of countryside but still easily accessible. It has been in the family for the past 40 years - we were married here 30+ years ago. We are surrounded by wildflower meadows and woods yet we're only 45 minutes from both Bristol and Cardiff and less than 15 minutes from the M4 motorway

What makes this property unique

It's a beautiful peaceful spot surrounded by our own meadows and woodland. The house dates back to the 17th century and we have found lots of historical clues during the renovations
