About this property
Pelican Point, Dramatic Ocean & Coast Views, Spa, Next to Town
THE VIEWS DO NOT GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS! The pictures give you some idea of the magnitude of the view down the coast, but to a tee, guests say it doesn't match seeing it in person. When you walk in the front door, my best description is that it's like looking out of a cruise ship that docked on a private cove. With Russian Gulch State Park as our neighbor, you have a unobstructed view all the way down the coast to the Mendocino Headlands! Stormy days are majestic as you sit and watch the coastline explode as far as the eye can see. Sit outside on our large deck overlooking ocean and hear nothing but the waves while watching the migration of the gray whales, or relax in the hot tub with the same commanding views. We added a downstairs patio complete with a fire pit. Yet you are only 5 minutes from downtown Mendocino, full of great shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Russian Gulch State park is less than 1/2 mile from the house where you can hang out at their beach, Kayak the coves, or hike the trails to waterfalls. Take a stroll to the Pt. Cabrillo Lighthouse or a little further brings you to Caspar Beach where you can surf, kayak or simply lay back on the large sandy beach. Back at our home, we have all the amenities you will need, from a full kitchen, cable TV, stereo, VCR, DVD, to a game room complete with a pool table, antique slot machines, corn hole and giant Jinga sets. Build a fire, turn on our funky fish lights (By artist Doug Rathbun), pour a libation and enjoy. Stroll downstairs to the game room and enjoy a game of pool, or walk outside to the hot tub that is situated with the same commanding views and look at the stars overhead. This place is truly special, no doubt about it. From its unassuming exterior to the warm amenities inside, we guarantee the place will take your breath away. A little update. At this point we've owned the place for some 11 years (2011-2022) I still get chill's every time I enter the home. The views are commanding. You'd be hard pressed to find a better location. It literally takes 5 minutes to get to downtown Mendocino. There you will find a historic town ripe with restaurants, shopping, grocery store and a museum. 6 miles north you will find Ft. Bragg with all the above plus a harbor that offers fishing and whale watching. Don't miss the Skunk Train.
Welcome to Pelican Point. You will love it, ...I guarantee it!

This property exceeded our expectations! The dramatic scenery and the artwork in the house really made the experience memorable. The location was amazing--super easy access to town and to Russian Gulch, and a short drive from Fort Bragg. It is super set up for big groups; huge tables, multiple grills, so many rooms and beds. An extended family could have an amazing time here. I highly recommend Kayak Mendocino--seals were following our boats up the river!
The property is a little dated but it’s really cool!! What an amazing view, we had a great time and would definitely stay there again. Thank you.

Appreciate your comments. It was built in 1962 out redwood. The floors and the ceilings are 2 x 4 Redwood on edge. There’s no way you could afford to do that today. I think it’s the original tile in the bathrooms and the kitchen that I’m gonna leave for as long as I can, as well as the kitchen cabinets.
Maybe it’s a little bit aged and worn, but you won’t find a more creative environment and a better view, I’m sure you can attest to that.
I’ve owned it for around 15 years now and I do get excited every time I go over. You don’t get used to that view and the location.
You’re welcome back anytime. I’ll keep the light on for you.
The house was so well stocked! It was perfect for the group we had and had such great amenities. I would definitely recommend staying at this unique house.
The view is amazing. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking big meals. From the house walked along some roads to the Russian Gulch State Park beach. It was a very quick car ride into the cute village of Mendocino. We really enjoyed playing pool and soaking in the hot tub.
Home has great, unique decorations with an amazing view. We watched the sea otters in the ocean right out the kitchen/dining windows and other wildlife. Great location and the host was helpful when we had questions or needed assistance.
Our stay was nothing short of exceptional. Our host was absolutely fabulous, even proactively reaching out during a brief power outage to ensure we were okay. The home itself felt like a private paradise, incredibly cozy and filled with a curated, eclectic art collection that gave the space so much character. I truly cannot recommend this stay highly enough.
Spectacular views, well-equipped house, and great artwork! The location was perfect for grandparents who wanted to stay at the house and enjoy the view while others explored local parks.
We have vacationed here with extended family for several years. The place is large enough to accommodate several families. There are excellent restaurants in Mendocino, 5 minutes away. The views are amazing. We love hearing the surf every day. The enclosed deck is a family favorite. Highly recommend!
Ww had an amazing time! The house had amazing views and we had an awesome time. Lots of games to play and very roomy and spacious for our group! Would stay here again.
Great kitchen and utensils etcFun game room, games, unique artwork Amazing view!!!comfortable beds and restroomsHost was very responsive! Too many great things to list...
Great weather, great location, great house with spectacular coastal views! Couldn't have asked for a better setting to enjoy a quality family vacation...
What a beautiful and cozy home! It was perfect for our family getaway. Stunning views from the house and hot tub. We felt very at home and really enjoyed our stay.
A lovely house in a great neighborhood with stunning views. I loved the peace and quiet and sounds of the waves. The kitchen is well-stocked with decent knives, plenty of a variety of glassware, plates and flatware. The accommodations are very comfy.
Just like all the precious reviewers... clean,well-outfitted, spacious, great location and great view. I filled my trunk with firewood so I could enjoy the outside fire pit and hot tub each evening. This is an older home without a luxury look or feel, but it was perfect for my family of eight.
Beautiful location overlooking the ocean. Hot tub looks at water. Deck looks at water. Two bedrooms look at water. Beds comfy. Kitchen well stocked w everything in good shape. No direct access to water that we could find.
Property is fantastic, ocean view. Kitchen is very well equipped. We enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I were married in Mendocino in 1981. We have always enjoyed the area and when we sold my mother-in-laws house in Hawaii we (I) embarked on finding an ocean front house there as a investment-rental for her.
Why they chose this property
I've participated in the Mendocino Abalone Cook Off several times and have taken the grand prize a few times. Always loving the area, I was looking for oceanfront property as an investment/income for my mother-in-law. After several tries (every time I made it over, the property I was coming over to look at would be in escrow) I got a call from my realtor about another oceanfront property. I made it halfway to Mendocino when I got the call that it went into escrow. Being halfway there I decided to come over anyway and look at other properties. The first one was what I now call Pelican Point. I really did not want to look at it because it was WAY out of our budget.
It was a beautiful sunny day. I looked at the house as we drove up and to be honest, I thought it looked kinda barn like, but my first steps into the home took my breath away. The fire was going and all I could see was coastline and ocean. It was (is) truly breathtaking! I had to have it!
It was a long journey to get the house. Suffice it to say, everything fell in line and this unbelievable house is ours, and we love to share it with others! It’s November 25, 2013 as I write this, and I’m even more excited about the place than when we first got it. It’s a great place to hang with family and or friends. We invite you to come share the experience. You will not be disappointed
