Fully furnished, family/dog friendly retreat, an hour from Seattle
After teaching for thirty-four years, and repairing cars, and airplanes and investing in properties for even longer, we have retired to a life of 'snow birds', creating home(s) along the west coast, and traveling worldwide. Our home on the McCormick Woods Golf Course is one of our favorites. When we are not playing with the house/ yard, or working on the computer, we like reading, visiting with friends and family, going for long walks through the Mc Cormick Woods neighborhood, 'working out' at the YMCA.
Lorraine purchased this House in 2008
Why Lorraine chose Port Orchard
We love the ambiance, especially the fresh air, forests, clear skies and the natural beauty of the Puget Sound area. It is a great place to take a deep breath, relax, enjoy nature, and explore the wealth of outdoor activities: walking, bicycling, boating, fishing, scuba diving, golfing, playing tennis or checking out the playground with your kids, you'll love the setting. Being removed from the hustle and bustle of major cities, yet still having easy access to Seattle and other favorites like Gig Harbor, Silverspring, Tacoma, and British Columbia has been an important consideration for us.
What makes this House unique
One chief advantage of staying here is the price: Housing in this area is very inexpensive for what you get. The neighborhood is exceptionally well maintained, and the semi-forested setting feels very serene. For us, the immediate attraction to this particular house was walking in the front door, looking across the room and seeing a beautiful waterfall, cascading down the rocks, in the back yard. The floor plan with skylights overhead was also a big plus.

Great Port Orchard location
Perfect location for visiting everything the little towns in Washington had to offer. Location is great, quiet, and really nice property. This is our second time here and when we return we will schedule our trip on the availability of this property.
This is a lovely home near a golf course! Very comfortable and convenient.
Its a winner!
We would rent this beautiful home again in a heartbeat! It is larger than it appears in the pictures. Its classy, but comfortable and had everything we needed. The owner was very accommodating. Everything was just wonderful.
Plenty of everything
This house offered many amenities. Seemingly unlimited toilet paper, paper towels, towels, dishwashing, and laundry detergent. We had a great stay. Be sure to note that there is no air conditioning, but plenty of fans to compensate. Being a former Seattle native we knew this was common, but should be more prevalent to guests coming from out of state that are use to it as a gold standard. Overall you will fully enjoy your stay; from the deer in the back yard to the water feature... the home was wonderful.
What I like best is the quiet, well-kept neighborhood, with very light slow-moving traffic, lots of grass, beautiful trees and walking trails through the surrounding forest.
It all makes for a wonderful place to come home to.
We will return again!!!
The Kells house in Port Orchard, WA is at the top of the list of beautiful homes, in beautiful neighborhoods, to stay. We enjoyed walking every day & enjoyed the water feature as we read & relaxed. The kitchen in fully supplied. We are particularly fond of the master bath with its walk in shower.
The house is very special and so are guests. While we allow our guests to enjoy privacy, but we really appreciate your business.
Do come again!
Great location, nice home
We loved our stay in Port Orchard! Lorraine is wonderful to work with. The home is beautiful, clean and comfortable. The location is perfect in a quiet, well-kept neighborhood. We loved seeing deer in the backyard everyday.
On the negative side, the king mattress needs replacing. The carpets need a good deep cleaning which we assume is a result of a busy summer season. Also, there is cable tv but only very basic channels and no smart tv. There isn't much to offer if you like to relax and watch tv in the evening. Regardless, we would definitely rent from Lorraine again.
Deep cleaning of the carpets has been scheduled.
The king size mattress is a top of the line Simmons Beauty Rest.
Direct calls for special requests, such as favorite TV channels are most welcome. We respect our guests' privacy, but we are close by if needed.
The house is located in the peaceful McCormick Woods Golf Course neighbor hood about six miles from the water front in Port Orchard. Bremerton, Gig Harbor and Tacoma are close by; and, it's a short scenic, ferry ride (1 hour) to Seattle.

For business persons, retirees, avid golfers, and families this location is heaven. All of the homes, built around the award-winning McCormick Woods Golf Course, are well maintained, and the neighborhood has many walking and bike trails meandering throughout. In addition to the golf course, the local community has playgrounds for children, basketball hoops, volleyball courts and a baseball diamond within walking distance. Trophy Lake Golf and Casting Club is about three miles from the house, and the Gold Mountain Golf Course is within six miles.
Grocery stores, salons, gyms, restaurants, movie theaters and even a 24 hour Urgent Care are located with 4 miles of the house so you don’t have to go far for anything you might need.
Enjoy a meal, entertainment, or wedding reception at the McCormick Woods Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar, or drive down the Port Orchard waterfront for dinner at the Light House or Amy’s on the Bay. Live theater at the Western Center for Fine Arts, located near the Marina is fun, as well as the local Farmer’s Market and Antique stores. Be sure to take a scenic ferry ride to Seattle for a day of shopping, Pike’s Market, and/or ride the monorail, to check out the view of Puget Sound from the Space Needle. Additional day trip destinations include the Olympic Rain Forest, Ocean Shores and/or Mt. Rainier or Mt St. Helen’s. The Kitsap Transit and the WA State Ferry System can take you on a scenic journey to The San Juan Islands, and British Columbia.
The North West is beautiful; there is much to explore. You can immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, yet be close to the amenities of larger cities.
