Nearly 4 miles of Lake Erie shoreline are claimed by the lively, amiable suburb of Lakewood, which is located on Cleveland's western edge. Residents of Lakewood had streetcar access to Downtown Cleveland at the beginning of the 20th century. Even with the streetcars gone, the neighborhood's convenient access to the city center is still appealing.
