About this property

Mountain and Country Farm View- Dog Friendly! Close to hiking & biking trails!

Kick back and relax in this calm and stylish space. You’ll be situated upon 4 peaceful acres overlooking farmland and Forge Mountain, located smack dab between Hendersonville, Asheville and Brevard. A stone's throw to Mills River Campground (3 miles) & Pisgah National Forest. Hiking and Road/Mountain Biking, tubing and fly fishing are all in our area! Sierra Nevada, Mills River, & Appalachian Mtn Breweries, Bold Rock Cider and a major grocery store are super close by. AVL airport 12 minutes. Comfy furnishings and fully equipped kitchen for cooking a meal after your big day!

Our guest house is very quiet, roomy and private. Comfortable furnishings are in place for conversation, games and relaxation with your group. Our guest house has a fully equipped kitchen with a bar stool island and dining room table for four. We have two bedrooms (First one king and 2nd with a twin over full bunk bed) and a full bath with a combination shower and tub. Stackable washer and dryer are in full bathroom.

The fully equipped kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, freezer with ice maker, 5 burner stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, 4 slice toaster, blender, tea kettle, Keurig coffee maker, and 12 cup coffee maker. (Filters and pods included.) Kitchen also has cutting boards and a full knife set.

Two bedrooms -first one king and the second a twin over full bunk bed- include fresh linens and quilt sets with memory foam mattresses. Ceiling fan in king bedroom and a portable fan in bunk room for your comfort. Black out curtains are in both of the bedrooms.

Our guest house is brand new (finished October 2023). It is completely private and detached from our main house. The Crow’s Nest has 19 exterior steps with a separate and private entrance with a keyless smart lock entry. There are no stairs once you are inside. Plenty of free parking is on premises close to guest entrance.

We provide all bed and kitchen linens, towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner for our guests. You will also find a hairdryer and portable clothes steamer under the bathroom sink. On hand at The Crow’s Nest, we also provide a starter supply of the following:

Trash bags
Dishwasher tabs & liquid
Laundry pods
Fresh sponge for kitchen
Shampoo & conditioner
Hand soap
Body wash
Disinfectant wipes
Paper towels
Toilet paper
Coffee filters
Keurig coffee pods (caffeinated)
Sugar/artificial sweeteners
Salt & Pepper
Basic spices
Cooking oil

The Crow’s Nest is close to everything- 5 minutes to a major grocery store and all the best breweries our area has to offer. Ten minutes to the Asheville airport. Hiking, biking trails, fly fishing, bike park, climbing park, tubing (in summer), dog park and waterfall areas are all a short drive away. Three miles to North Mills River Campground and 20 minutes to Pisgah National Forest and Bent Creek. Biltmore Estate, downtown Hendersonville, Brevard & Asheville are 25 minutes away.
Guest access
We recently finished building this brand new spacious two bedroom, one bath detached three car garage guest house in October 2023. It features a separate entrance and a multiple car parking area. (We even have room for short-term RV parking!) Access to house is keyless- you will access the guest house via a Schlage smart lock using a numerical code. Inside you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and living room with a large picture window overlooking a homestead farm of about 50 acres. It is peaceful, quiet and tranquil. You’ll feel a million miles away but you’ll have all the comforts and conveniences of home. Outside you’ll have access to a fire pit where you can gather under the stars ✨ and a table and chair set for 6. Should you choose to stay in and relax or get out and about, either way you won’t go wrong. Adventure and our beautiful mountains will be awaiting you outside your front door.
Other things to note:
You will have to climb 19 exterior steps to get to the entrance of our guest house. There are no interior steps once you’re inside The Crow’s Nest.

Our internet can occasionally be slow and spotty. (We are in a valley surrounded by mountains- go figure!) Some days it runs well (around 72 mbps) and others not so much. We have a separate and free WiFi for our guest house; you’ll be given the network name and password before you arrive. You’ll need to enable your phone for WiFi calling since cell service can be unreliable where we live.

If you need bike storage, please let us know when you book.

We allow dogs (maximum of 2) as long as they are completely housebroken. Sorry, no cats. You will need to be able to control your pet once on the property as we do not have a fence. The area around The Crow’s Nest is privately owned so we ask that you keep to our immediate area (our front and side yard) and do not allow your dog to roam free without supervision.

If you would like some hiking recommendations, please let us know when you make your reservation- we will be happy to forward you some of our favorites!

We are animal lovers- we have a friendly small (10 Lb) dog, Edie, that lives with us. You may observe her as well as some other wildlife while here- mostly deer, turkey and rabbits.

A Peaceful Weekend Retreat
We enjoyed our stay at The Crow's Nest. The "cottage" was very clean, decorated nicely and provided everything we needed. The view from the family room was lovely. Wes and Leslie were very helpful giving us suggestions for places to eat and things to do. The area is quaint but close enough to Hendersonville, Black Mountain and Brevard that one could easily make day trips to these small towns. We did spend a day in Hendersonville and enjoyed walking through the town, shopping and eating. Our experience staying at The Crow's Nest was a very peaceful and enjoyable one and we plan to go back there in the fall.

My hubby and I love to travel and during our many trips we have come to realize what is important to have on hand in our vacation rental. We have outfitted our guest house to have every essential you might need! We have lived in WNC for many years, so we know the area very well. Wes is a big mountain biker and can tell you some great trails to explore. We are happy to share with you our favorite places to go-from restaurants to day activities with kids in tow- all you need to do is ask! We live on the property but will give you your needed privacy. If you need anything while you are here you can reach out to us.

Why they chose this property

Mills River is nestled in the Western North Carolina mountains between the cities Asheville, Hendersonville and Brevard. It is a beautiful community of farmland along with rolling hills and meandering rivers. It is convenient to hiking, biking and tubing areas. Breweries abound in this area. So much to see and do, you won't have time to do it all!

What makes this property unique

Our guest house is brand new with lots of personal added touches to make your stay as comfortable and effortless as possible. You’re in the country but just minutes to everywhere. You will love the peace, quiet and tranquility of The Crow's Nest! Being that we own and manage the property ourselves, we are typically on hand to take care of any needs or requests you might have while giving you all the privacy you need and expect.
