About the host
Hosted by Larry and Kathy Hansen
Hi,
A little about ourselves!
We are from Boise Idaho and still have family and a home there, we have both been in the real estate industry for over 30 years and previously had a vineyard home Bed & Breakfast that we hosted for many years.
We first visited Key West in 2006 and immediately fell in love with the island, the weather, the locals and how the island had kept its charm with its historic architecture. Fast forward to 2018..... we were finally able to place an offer" that didn't get bumped" on a home that needed A LOT of TLC but even more, it required a complete historic renovation.
Being in the real estate industry for so long, we have made a life of doing remodels and renovations on several properties but this was the 1st of this magnitude and we did it 100% ourselves. The house was built in 1890 and we were able to keep the original footprint but had to take it back to the studs and we used, stripped and refinished all of the salvageable original components. It has been a true labor of love.
We have updated and included what we feel is important to us while we're here and we spend as much time here as we possibly can and let others enjoy it when we can't be here.
We know you will love and care for our home as much as we do!

Why they chose this property
With all that the island has to offer, being in old town was a requirement and on a lane would make it perfect! Knowles lane is one of the rare small lanes in old town. It's a small, hidden, 1 block private lane and cars don't think they can actually drive down it, so, about the only traffic you'll get will be the 4 neighbors that live on the lane and have a parking space, a few dog walkers, an occasional bike rider and the locals out for a walk.
We're only a few blocks walk or bike ride to Higgs beach, Smathers beach, the Sunday Artisan and farmers market, West Martello botanical garden, the White Street Pier, so many restaurants, shopping, tennis, pickle ball and Bocce' ball and so much more!
Duvall street with all the entertainment is an easy few blocks bike ride as well as the Key West Butterfly Museum with resident Flamingos Rhett and Scarlett, The Hemmingway house, Key West Lighthouse, The Shipwreck Museum, Key West Bight Marina, Southernmost Buoy, Coffee Butler Amphitheater and the Truman Waterfront and Fort Zachary Taylor State Park.
There's always so many free local musicians playing, concerts and music festivals going on, you definitely won't find yourselves being bored.
We know you will love our little piece of paradise!
