Quaint Location but Host Dishonest
The host replied quickly, neighborhood cute and quaint, but air fresheners in each room a bit over-powering and the host demonstrated dishonesty which really bothered me. This is my first negative VRBO review because I feel it’s better to contact hosts directly and give them a chance to fix things. However, when it comes down to dishonesty I cannot keep quiet. The deciding factor for renting this house was the hot tub listed as an amenity which was important to our kids. Upon arrival no hot tub could be found. I rechecked the listing to make sure I did not make a mistake it was indeed listed as an amenity. The host blamed VRBO. I contacted VRBO and they said they would look into it. When I followed up with VRBO they told me they contacted the host who informed them a hot tub was never listed. The host removed the option when I brought it to attention and then lied about it to VRBO. Also, I messaged the host that the master bathroom shower was unusable for our entire stay. This host requires insurance coverage be purchased in order to rent. I let the host know in writing the shower was not operating upon arrival and they filed an insurance claim against my personal name for over 2000 to repair a non functioning shower valve. It is unethical to require renter’s insurance and then file claims against renters’ personal names to repair preexisting maintenance issues. My advise is to screen shot erroneous listings and do a date stamped video walk through to protect yourselves.
