Property not allowed for rental

Upon arrival we were told not to mention it was a VRBO and that we are the host’s cousins. Upon alerting customer service of this and the notice in the elevator stating short term rentals are not allowed, they said the host said the notice is old and no longer relevant, and the most they could do is a 50$ refund as it did not classify as part of the guarantee to find a place. We left, contacted the general manager of the building, and confirmed it was not allowed to be rented. We contacted VRBO support who, despite the previous agent saying it didn’t qualify, that because we left they could not do anything and that the Host’s ‘Family owns the building’ despite the General Manager stating otherwise. We’ve been in contact with the General Manager of the building who assisted us in finding a place to stay for our vacation. Do not trust this listing!!!

Wasted money

Totally disappointed. Was totally cluttered . The couch was horrible straight out a thrift store. I went to open the curtain in the bedroom and it fell down it was held up by a shower curtain rod. I went to watch TV and neither worked. When i contacted the host his answer and i quote your on vacation who watches TV go out and see the city. He tried to get me to cancel the day before my trip. Then after staying a day i tried to cancel and he wasn't interested now and instead tried to offer me coupns to local venues. So i checked out and had to pay for another place losing my entire investment. So apparently you don't vent your properties as well as i expected. Xso i am out $1150 for nothing .so not sure what you are going to do if anything. Horrible experience.
