Cute little house close to the sea in the middle of the Natural Park of the Straits of Gibraltar, 100m from the Sea with a little garden, perfect for a peaceful holiday.
The house is 30m2 with a 50m2 little garden. It is inside a bigger property, and each house has its individual private garden. It has one small kitchen-living room, one small bedroom with a double bed and a small bathroom. There is access to Internet WIFI.
It is selfsuficient in electricity produced by the wind and sun.
Lots of beautiful walks in the area of this Natural Park of the Straits of Gibraltar
It is necessary to have a car in this property, although you could just have a bicycle also.
Trendy Tarifa is only a couple of kilometers away (a beautiful, 25 minute walk along the cliffs; just eight minutes by car) but right here there is nothing but peace, tranquility and the sound of silence, amazing seascapes and the stunning nature of the Natural Park all around, plunging dramatically down to wild, rocky bays.
Access to this remote, heavenly spot is pretty good considering the terrain all around is so spectacular. Until recently these hills were the sole domain of the Spanish military; they have left now but the roads and tracks they built through the steep hills and valleys remain. The road to the villa is tarmaced, if a little narrow and bendy in places; only the last 1000 metres to the house is dirt track. This bit is a little bumpy but easily negotiable in an ordinary car with due care and attention. Not good for a low sport car.
It's about as ecological as can be here. There's no mains electricity in this remote corner of Spain, so everything works on solar and wind power; water comes from local wells. There's no air conditioning either, the fresh sea breezes and the stone construction of the villa keep everything cool, even on the hottest of summer days.
There are a million things to do from here, quite apart from reveling in this amazing location. A plethora of coastal and countryside tracks to be explored, an abundance of wild flowers everywhere, a new and always sensational view to be enjoyed at every turn. Only a few roaming cows on the hillsides and the occasional fisherman down on the rocks to keep you company. It's magical!
There are plenty of excellent restaurants and night spots in and around Tarifa, mile upon mile of white, sandy beaches on the Costa de la Luz immediately beyond. There are beautiful white villages in inland Cádiz to visit, wind and kite surfing, diving, golf, horse riding et al. And the capital of the province, Cádiz itself, is well worth a day trip. A very friendly city with a unique atmosphere, it continues to evoke the romance and mystery of centuries of trade (some legal, some not so) between Europe, Africa and the Americas.
Morocco is only 35 minutes away from Tarifa on the high speed catamaran … 35 minutes which will take you to a totally different world. Ferries also leave from Algeciras and, either way, it's a wonderful trip, especially on the longer, 3 hour trip from Algeciras, the ship accompanied through the Straits by dolphins and whales.

Nestled in a remote location, this cozy retreat provides excellent value for money. The charming small house comes well-equipped with all essential kitchen amenities, making self-catering a breeze. While the bathroom is compact, it serves its purpose perfectly well. The bedroom features an adequate bed, though there is room for improvement in terms of comfort. The property's secluded location adds to its charm, offering a peaceful getaway. However, potential guests should note that access requires careful driving - vehicles with low clearance may risk scratching their undercarriage on the approach road. Overall, the property represents excellent value for money, delivering a comfortable stay in a tranquil setting.
It was very great!Eventhough Marcos was not even in Spain he was always helpful and had good remarks and tips also for the arrival. The check in went smoothly and also the pellet stove inside when coming during "colder times" worked very nicely. So nothing to complain! One just has to keep in mind that the way to the flat includes a dirt track so be aware what car one is using or lending from companies.

An amazing & beautiful area, of course. And inside house LOOKED good, but clock broken, shower only 3 minutes (no way to wash hair), toilet seat broken, unsafe equipmt on woodstove. Checkout time ruined due to conflicting time zones online. Owner & partner very friendly, but unrealistic. My stay there was pretty bad.
Loved where we were. Full of nature with amazing views across to Morroco. Very peaceful and quiet

nice quiet hideaway at the southern tip of Europe
Small but perfectly formed cottage. Excellent instructions on how to find the place. Well stocked woodpile for the fire. A very easy place to spend a couple of days.

Beautiful, off-the-grid cottage!
This is a beautiful but no-frills cottage that gives two people just enough space to cook a Christmas dinner, relax, and take in the beautiful views of Morocco. A clock in the house would have helped us to keep track of the "actual" time (Morocco is an hour ahead and at at least two of our phones/computers jumped to Morocco time--that's how close it is!). The garden was rustic and the whipping wind along the coast is being put to good use to provide energy to the house. A guide on using the wood stove might be helpful, but we figured it out. Aside from that, the owner provides detailed directions and guides on nearly every thing else you'd want to know about the property. Thanks for a beautiful stay in a beautiful setting.

About the host
Hosted by Marcos Welsh
I was born in Malaga, Spain of Australian parents, at the age of 18 I moved to Tarifa attracted by the windsurfing and was Spanish champion and also did the world cup, i was looking for a special place for many years and after living in the Costa de la Luz for ten years decided to buy La Casa de la Costa, at that time i meet Paco who has helped my family as a builder, gardener and above all as a friend. We run the Casa de la Costa and Casa del Estrecho together as a holiday rental house, so when i am not around Paco looks after everyone and I live part of the year in Australia with my family, and do all the bookings via email and organize with Paco the hand over of the keys to our clients via internet, we have been doing this for a while now and are both very happy to please our clients. Year purchased: 2000 Why the owner chose an apartment in this location After living for ten years in La Costa de la Luz, and looking everywhere for the perfect place, it finally came in the form of a run down finca (farm) just 3km for the center of Tarifa, immediately i saw the potential of the place, and although it is extremely difficult to get the refurbishing permits for building i went ahead, and after many head aches with local authorities managed to get the permits, and with Paco and myself built up the three houses on the finca slowly but surely, ten years later it was finished, La Finca de la Costa is considered to be one of the best properties in the hole of La Costa de la Luz (not boasting) and has THE BEST VIEW to Africa. It simply doesn't get better. The place is magical, situated between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, Africa and Europe. Unique benefits of the property Although just an 8 min drive from the center of town, but the last 800m is a dirt track which low sport cars can not access, but normal cars can access perfectly well, or a 25min walk, it seems like you are the only person in the world when staying at the property. Its the closest house to Africa and
