About this property

Charming casa in Salobrena's old town with views of the med & mountains

Escape with friends or family to a local Andalucian town, with sweeping views of the sea and the Sierra Nevadas. You'll find our bright and airy casa for 6 people full of charm, in a quaint village of white houses and bougainvillea. Our home has two main bedrooms and two smaller rooms, one with a bunkbed and another with two single rollaway beds.

Our casita is located in the heart of the whitewashed hillside village of Salobrena. This is a wonderful place to experience local Andalucian life.

We are based in the US full-time and come here for sun, ski, tennis, golf, seafood, flamenco and the warmth of the locals! We feel right at home here and hope you do too.

Some details about the house. It has four bedrooms & 2.5 bathrooms (one on each floor), and sleeps 6, and possibly 8 if some in the group are children.

We have kept the space as bright and airy as possible. All furniture is new and the interior is stylishly decorated with neutral colors but with lots of Spanish touches.

The house itself is located just below the main square in the old town and next to the charming Al Haja tavern. Cars selling bread, vegetables, fruit and eggs pass by in front of the casa during the week - all fresh from the local farmlands of the Costa Tropical. A lady in our village looks after the casa.

As you enter the house, you will find one bedroom on the ground floor with two twin beds which looks onto a small square. On the next floor is a brightly lit living room which gets flooded with sun in the morning. It has a large dining table and a balcony perfect for long breakfasts as you watch people in the village pass by below. On the same floor, you will find a fully equipped kitchen which was remodeled in 2014 and a washing machine, plus a bedroom with bunk beds. Another floor up, you have two more bedrooms - the master with a double bed (160cm x200), a balcony with stunning views of the coast and a lighthouse, and another bedroom with two foldout single beds. Follow the spiral stairs up top and you have the roof terrace, which has 180 degree views of the mountains and sea and catches sun all day. Here you have sun chairs, a table with chairs, a bbq, a small fridge to keep your beer and wine chilled and lots of potted olive trees!

Internet access is important to us, so we have secured good Wifi throughout the house (incl the roof terrace). There are also speakers for computers/mobiles and a TV/DVD with some international channels.

Our casita is located 10 min by foot from the beach and a one hour drive to Granada where you can visit the world-famous Al Hambra or head on up to the slopes for skiing at Europe's most southerly ski resort!

Wonderful property in old town
Absolutely loved this place. 3 stories, 2 floors with balconies and a stunning roof terrace with breath-taking views. It's high up in the village, (which we knew) so there are many, winding cobbled streets to go up - but that added to the pure charm of the place and kept us fit (Taxi's can go quite close too) Highly Recommend

very nice but not really for 10 (or single 4)
The house is very beautiful, full of light and very nicely situated with great views. But having booked a house which is supposed to house 10 or 11 people we were struggling to find a fair division of the bedrooms. The 2 main bedrooms are nice, spacious and have comfortable beds. But the 3 other bedrooms wouldn't seem like real bedrooms to us: - the one on the ground floor has no windows and was smelling musty and damp - the one next to the kitchen is super-small and has just a bunkbed in which we felt somewhat claustrophobic (maybe ok for children). - and the small one on the top floor is the thoroughfare to the terrace, and has only folding beds with not-so-comfy and very narrow mattresses and all 3 rooms lack almost completely any spaces to put one's clothes and stuff - no cupboards or no shelves (or the few ones in the small room next to the kithcen were full of stuff). so we had to put our clothes and things on the floor. another thing which hit us: there is only one sofa where 3 people can sit comfortably, but what about the other person (or the 7 others)? anyway, we have had a good stay at the house.

Beautiful house, beautiful town, beautiful views
Great spot from which to enjoy the beaches, and less than an hour to the Alhambra in Granada. Very comfortable, great kitchen, incredible rooftop patio. Parking is challenging, but no more so than any other place in an old European town, and additional parking is not very far away. Our family loved spending time at the restaurant in the nearby plaza.

About the host

I am a California girl (with Taiwanese roots) living in Stockholm with my Swedish husband, Tomas. This part of the Mediterranean reminds me a lot of California, which is probably one reason for falling so much in love with this part of the world! I am an avid traveler, a journalist and a foodie. I avoid tourist traps and seek out local flavor anywhere I go.

Why they chose this property

My husband and I hunted for the perfect vacation home to escape from the long Swedish winters. We stumbled upon Salobrena and fell immediately in love with its beauty, charm and authenticity. We love everything about this house and come here to unwind and soak in the sun.
