A PRIVATE ESTATE where you will experience Comfort, Ease, Quality, Carefree, Private, Relaxing, Heaven on Earth. Our permit number is BBKM 2014/0004.
We believe in the Malama Hawaii program where visitors are respected as Ohana "family" and they in turn respect the aina (place) and it's people as Ohana.

We are Fully air-conditioned! Each room has it's own controls.
Located on a half an acre of land, adjacent to thousands of undeveloped acres and above the hustle and bustle of the resorts of Wailea, including The Four Seasons, The Grand Wailea with many great restaurants nearby, The MauiJOY Villa has a 180 degree ocean views of three islands, with a large private swimming pool.
The luch tropical landscaping provides privacy, allowing our guests to go clothing optional.

This is the perfect Private Spa getaway as only ONE party can reserve this property at a time, so when you reserve the MauiJOY Villa, (Heaven on Earth) you will have the privacy of the pool to yourselves. (The pool can be completely enclosed with a removable security fence for toddlers).
Two large Bedrooms, each is equipped with king sized very comfortable bed with premium linens. Each bedroom has light and sound blocking curtains too in case the birds are too loud for you.
The second master bath, with granite counter top, jacuzzi tub, also has a walk-in tiled shower accommodated for senior.

(We can add a single futon or full sized baby crib and Travel Evanflo Deluxe Suite Koi that rolling play pen in either of the bedrooms.)
Both bedrooms have tropical garden views with cool breezes that come in from the top of Haleakala (The islands dormant volcano that rises above Maui at 10,023 ft.)

There is a very large outdoor shower beneath the banana trees where you can shower off after the beach or swim in the pool or like some of our guests perfer to use it only.

There are beautiful ocean views from the living area and dining/kitchen areas.
Everything you need to enjoy a stress free vacation is here, from your morning smoothie using the latest Vitamixer, the large four burner barbecue, dishes, premium linens, luxury bathrobes, beach chairs/towels, free high speed wifi internet and free movies using our streaming services Hulu, Pandora, Amazon Prime.
(We love kids so have little chairs, beach toys, games, floats, umbrellas and a portable high chair)

The Kitchenette/TV/Sitting room has a large refrigerator, a washer /dryer and 40' Smart Flat Screen TV and is located off pool side for your convience while using the barbecue.

The MauiJOY Villa has been a favorite spa retreat for two couples to share and families with children. The kids love the pool!
Our favorite massage therapist will bring her table and you can get a relaxing massage poolside or beneath the mango tree in the lower gardens. There is a massage table located in the guest suite bedroom for your use.

The MauiJOY Villa has breathtaking views of the ocean and full South Western night skies. Lush tropical landscaping affords property privacy. The lower garden, also with ocean views, is a perfect meditation or yoga/pilates spot, and there are also various organic fruit trees including Mango, Papaya, Guava, Strawberry Guava, Tangerines, Oranges and Passion fruit vines for your morning smoothies.

There are many love birds I have rescued that visit our feeder along with finch, sparrow, and two species of cardinals, to name a few. If you enjoy bird watching, this is a good spot for that too. In fact, love birds who fly freely in our gardens may even stop to say 'aloha'. Our Axis deer actually "bark" and you may hear/see them on the adjacent vacant land.

Sit by your private pool and watch the whales play from December to May. You can actually watch them from the lanai (we have binoculars, however you may want to bring your own for boat trips) and the activity can be seen from here.

We have our own drinking water filters in the kitchens so no need to buy plastic water bottles, We encourage you to bring your re-fillable water bottles.
We have plenty of shopping bags/ cooler bags for your use.

The County of Maui is now discouraging any type of sunscreen that is NOT labled "reef safe" as our corals are being affected by the ingredients in sunscreen.
We do recycle as much as possible here too with recycling bins.

New Year's eve is spectacular with views of the resort fireworks as well.
Many house guest have called this 'Heaven on Earth' and we are so grateful to be here on
Maui No Ka Oi.

Just like home

We absolutely loved our stay here! The location was quiet with beautiful views, and the home was stocked with everything we needed. Our kids especially loved having the private pool — it made everything so convenient and relaxing.As previous residents of Maui, this stay truly felt like being back home again. The Island Gourmet Market nearby was such a bonus, with plenty of great food options and groceries right at our fingertips.Teri is an amazing host! She kept in touch throughout our stay, providing us with important information and making sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this place for anyone wanting comfort, convenience, and that warm Maui feeling.

Amazing Stay Above Wailea

Stayed here with my family of 4. Could not be happier! Loved having our own pool to play in day or night, the jacuzzi tub, the multitude of birds and lizards that kept everyone entertained, the fresh bananas and mangoes, grill, games, the list goes on and on. Once settled we rarely had to travel out, except to collect groceries and go on little day trips. Big beach is only a short drive away and local snorkeling is awesome. When we’re back on Maui, we’ll be sure to return to Maui Joy!!

Best vacation house we have ever had!!

Mauijoy was absolutely amazing!! We would recommend this place to our closes family and friends and to anyone who is looking for a peaceful place to be with family. This place beats any hotel and resort by a landslide and we are so happy that we chose this over anything else. If you are looking for a place to be with your family, private swimming pool, nature at your doorstep, various Hawaiian fruit trees, and being close to beaches, then this is the place you should be at. The drive to the beach was about 5 minutes away. So convenient. Terri was also a very nice host and easily approachable. She gave us tips on where to visit that only the locals know about. This turned out to be one of our best family vacations mainly because of this MauiJoy villa! We will definitely be returning!

Peaceful Paradise

Maui Joy Villa made our vacation absolutely perfect! When we weren't out exploring the island, shopping, or snorkeling, This beautiful house was a relaxing respite from all our activities. It was exceptionally clean and well appointed with everything we could possibly have needed. The lushness of the gardens were truly a wonderful and constant background to this gem of an oasis. And the views? All I can say is, how can you beat views of the mountains behind, and the ocean in front?!?! Teri was always there, answering any questions we had, quickly and thoroughly. And all the little daily things she did, such as leaving fresh mangos for us, meant a lot! Teri's home is a true oasis. My husband, 16 year old daughter and her cousin stayed. The girls absolutely loved it at Maui Joy and on the island of Maui. We all enjoyed ten days of pure bliss, staying at the Maui Joy Villa!

Good house; overbearing owner

We rented both bedrooms of this house. The pool was great and the views were fantastic. The owner had a pack and play for our one year old and purchased a booster seat during our stay. These are all the positives. The negatives, for us, far out weighted any positives. The owner continually intruded in our enjoyment of the property. We would be sitting by the pool and she would appear. One day she entered the property we had rented from her to turn off the air conditioning. She sleeps in her office which is the front room of this house. She is extremely intrusive. I told her she should take the property off of vrbo and put it on other sites where people expect constant interaction with the owner. I have rented through vrbo for the last fifteen years. I have never had such an intrusive owner in all my one hundred rentals. I hope this review is a warning for all potential renters. She will be a big part of your reality if you rent her place. If you are like us and want to rent a home for only your pleasure, this house is not for you.

Perfect Covid Getaway

Our family of 5 was able to negotiate the Covid hoops and stayed here during the week of Thanksgiving. The best way to summarize our experience with this house is that instead of heading down to the beach, my wife and 2 of our kids preferred stay and play in the pool and enjoy the amazing views from the lanai (patio) instead of going to the beach on all but one day while we were there. The property location is perfect with just a short drive to Kihei and Wailea for groceries or to have food delivered. While the rest of our family relaxed at the pool, my son and I could pop down to Kihei to rent gear and do some shore diving (Ulua Beach ~7 min.; Mekena Landing ~10 min.) and easily be back for lunch. The property's expansive views (my wife's favorite feature of the house) are amazing and a perfect location for morning coffee or evening sundowners. From the top lanai and pool area you can see all the way from West Maui, Lanai and down to Molokini (the latter being slightly obscured by neighbor's trees). Behind and below the pool, which is just off the lanai, is a large tree covered yard with even more impressive views of Molikini and Kaho'olawe. The pool itself was a bit chilly but once in you got used to it quickly. The house has a large amount of pool toys and floaties too. The lanai has a large table, nice lighting, couch/chairs/coffee table and lounge seating. There's also a large clean gas grill and grilling utinsels which we used several times. Additionally Teri, the owner, puts out bird feed every morning and we could sit and watch love birds, java sparrows, cardinals and many others throughout the day. We even saw a mongoose sneaking up on the birds. The house itself was perfect for our family of 5, with my teenage daughter having her own studio with futon, bathroom, larger tv and kitchenette (unused). You can get to this connected apartment through one of the bedrooms or an entrance from the patio. The main house has two rooms with kings, and an open plan living room (with small tv and pull out couch) , dining room and kitchen. The dining room has great views, though we ate outside on the large patio table almost exclusively. The kitchen and bathroom were extremely well stocked. There are plenty of books and card/board games available. Teri was excellent, not obtrusive at all, and ensured we had everything we needed. She also graciously allowed us to stay a few hours past checkout because of our late flight. Highly Recommended!

First let me start this review by stating that there is nothing malicious in my honest opinion as to what we experienced and felt about renting this property. Teri, the owner of the property was very friendly and cordial. She was waiting for us to arrive at (Her) front door of the property, (we were apparently renting the rear of her property. I said to her, are you the rental agent, & she replied,I'm the owner, and I live in the front of the property. I was taken back and surprised to hear this, as I thought we were renting a totally private rental, that's what the listing stated. (Private Estate) The view is beautiful, you can see the ocean from the pool area, her garden is beautiful with all the flowers and trees. The pool is very nice also. We had our own parking spot in front of the house. The house had all the ameneties for cooking, washing our clothes, showering and so forth. Now for the negatives,I know rental agents hate this part becasue they normally come back at you with comments like how bad we were as renters and all the negatives they can come up with. We didn't like the fact that owner lived in the front of house, and she told us that clothing was optional around the pool area (I'm not a prude) but that was another surprise.The decor was dated, bugs in bathrm, told gardner was coming by one day and then pool guy another day.Had to adjust. ( THERE IS NO LAW IN MAUI THAT I'M AWARE OF THAT SAYS OWNER MUST LIVE ON RENTAL PROPERTY!) PER GOOGLE. PLEASE LIST INFO.

Lovely

My husband and I stayed in this home for a week in June, 2025. We were astounded at the beauty of the gardens with endless flowers. We spent most of our time on the patio admiring the view of ocean below and the gardens. The bed was extremely comfortable. There are two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house was actually more spacious than what we anticipated from the photos. Communication with the owner and housekeeper was flawless. Some of the nicest resorts on Maui are down the hill including Grand Wailea, Four Seasons, and The Fairmont. We ate at Nobu at the Grand Wailea and loved it. Pricey but amazing. We super enjoyed the Te Au Moana Luau at the Marriott. A fantastic cultural experience!

Little Slice of Heaven

We just returned from a 2 week stay at Maui Joy. The property was BEAUTIFUL. We were specifically looking for a little seclusion and privacy, but everything we wanted or needed was close by, so it was a great location. Teri was always there when we needed anything and very quick to respond, before and during our trip. A big thank you to Teri for sharing your beautiful home with us! We truly had a great time and couldn’t have asked for more to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary!

Our family loves our stay. Close to the best beach, the home is surrounded by fruit trees and gorgeous flowering plants. The pool was amazing as well. This house has everything you need and more.

Exceptional Rental and Host

Your host Teri is rated as a Premier host and deservedly so. She was so helpful from the day we booked and throughout our entire stay. We contacted her source to have the house stocked with everything we needed when we arrived and we settled into Aloha immediately. Teri is also an amazing woman to get to know should you care to engage in conversation with her. Having said that, she respects your privacy and will communicate via text, checking on anything you might need or you can text her with any questions. We left having felt like we made a new friend. My wife and I wanted to find the perfect place to celebrate our 50th anniversary and Maui Joy was the bulls eye. Knowing this, Teri had a bouquet of beautiful fresh local exotic flowers to welcome us and kept them fresh the entire stay, even adding to them. The house is as shown in the pictures; there were no unexpected surprises. The house is well appointed with everything we needed to settle in. The outdoor living space is spectacular and we spent the majority of our time outdoors, either at or in the pool, sitting at the comfortable covered living space overlooking the pool or the lower yard which provided great late afternoon shade shade and the perfect place for cocktail hour. Exceptional dining is a short drive away as are great beaches. She has all the beach gear, no need to rent. With a stocked fridge, music, bathroom etc, we spent several days home around the pool. Aloha prevailed! Yes, we will return to Aloha!

Great way to end the year

Stay was great and the perfect way for my wife and in-laws to spend the last two weeks of 2023. The house has two comfortable bedrooms and the grounds are beautiful. The owner keeps a birdfeeder stocked up and the birds are beautiful and wonderful to listen to while soaking up paradise. Location is great to get to great beaches and Kihei or Wailea.

Anniversary and Birthday Trip

We have been to Maui a few times and this is our favorite place to stay. So peaceful and quiet, which is what we wanted. We just wanted to relax and decompress from everything and this is the perfect place to do it at. Teri was an awesome host and so very sweet. We will be back.

Living the Hawaiian Dream

The first half of our trip we stayed at a high-end rental home in Lahaina. We spent the second half in Kihei at Heaven on Earth/Teri’s place. So our first rental was very nice but felt a little sterile to me. I think my daughter summarized the difference between the two very succinctly. She said the first place felt like we were “visiting Maui.” Teri’s place felt like we were “LIVING Maui.” Being up on a hill, the views, sunsets and evening stars will take your breath away…the birds sing happily all day long and the abundant fruit trees and flowers overwhelm the senses. The pool/lanai were enjoyed daily. We loved the new hot/cold outdoor shower as well. And the mangoes we picked were so sweet, juicy and tastes slightly of coconut—so yummy! Our stay was comfortable and our host Teri was warm, friendly & nearly always available- so much so that we joked about being soul sisters….we all loved our time here, felt like no one else was around (extremely private) and truly felt like heaven on Earth. I’d love to move to Maui someday ( big dream I know) and have a slice of heaven just like Teri’s. It’s been a couple of days since we left Maui…I feel this huge emptiness inside, missing the serenity, peace and wholeness I felt while staying at Teri’s place….I am eager to return soon. Already. Thank you, Teri, for sharing your home, stories and recommendations… and for you sharing your love and care with us all

We had a great time staying at MauiJoy! Teri, (host/owner) is so thoughtful and helpful. Gave us tons of advice well in advance so we could make reservations at popular spots in time. This is thus far the best VRBO we have stayed at in terms of ensuring every possible thing we could need was already on site at the house for our stay apart from groceries. And the views! Watching whales with our binoculars frolic in the Pacific was amazing. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Location is perfect. Short drive to beaches, restaurants, shopping etc. New Year’s fireworks watched from pool deck/lanai were fantastic. Rented full house which allowed each teenager (3) to have own bed (one was sofa bed in living room). Can’t wait to go back! Definitely 5 stars!

Maui Joy is an amazing place with beautiful views of the ocean and Molokini crater. The pool is amazing after a morning of exploring the islands. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals. Grocery stores are close by, Wailea, Lahaina and Kehei are fun places to explore and not far. Costco, Target and other 'large chain' type stores are about a 30 minute drive one way. The house is up on a hill in a quiet neighborhood and you can't see the neighbors due to the amazing lush tropical landscape. Teri is a fantastic host that makes sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay and is very knowledgeable about the area and has lots of suggestions and tips. 10 out 10 would recommend this place and will totally return!

Wonderful property exceeded expectations

Everything was better than expected, wish we would gave stayed longer. Fantastic host with great attention to detail! High end kitchen appliances and accessories (vitamix blender, 14cup coffee maker) made our group stay a joy!

60th Birthday Celebration

This was the perfect spot to celebrate 60 years on this planet. Comfortable beds, air conditioning, well stocked kitchen, and our own pool! It doesn't get much better than that. The host lives on the property, per law, so she's available, if needed. There is a wonderful view, lots of beautiful birds, and cute little geckos! We can't wait to come back again.

Beautiful relaxing stay

We enjoyed our stay, loved the pool and the view. House is very well equipped, had everything we needed during our stay. Great location to stay in or go shopping. We spent most of our time relaxing in and by the pool, but ventured out a few days as well, drives were reasonable time away. Teri was helpful, we enjoyed visiting with her. Lovely week, would have loved to stay longer, or make a return trip.

Amazing view, beautiful home and location is perfect!

What an amazing vacation we had! Our family loves Maui and to find such a special hidden Gem of a home to enjoy while we were there was so special. The home is so relaxing, clean and has everything you will need for your stay. The pool and very was absolutely what we were looking for. My teens prefer having the pool to ourselves and being able to relax. The flowers, gardens, trees and birds really helped you enjoy the tropical surroundings. Thank you to the owner for making this stay so special. We will be back!

Perfect House in Paradise

This was a perfect house for our family. The outside lanai area is stunning- the gardens are beautiful and full of fruit bearing trees (best bananas ever), the pool and surrounding patio is the best place to relax, enjoy and listen to the birds. The house layout was great for each of our teens to have their own space but great shared area as well for dinner, TV time etc. Teri is a fabulous host! She was incredibly accommodating of our delayed schedule, willingness to accept packages ahead of time and provision of general knowledge about the island and her home. Beaches are not quite walkable but easy drive/park to beautiful locations. We would stay again 100X over and will recomend to anyone traveling to Maui.

I am MauiJOY because I have lived on Maui (over 30 years!) and have been called 'JOY' in many of the Happiness classes I have taken. I am MauiJOY on backgammon sites as it is one of my favorite games to play.
I am the owner and State of Hawaii licensed broker of my own small company in real estate called, International Real Estate Services, LLC.
Traveling on my own, I have gone around the world visiting many places including Japan, Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India, (Burma), Nepal, Myanmar, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, South America, Europe and South America. So much to see and do yet Maui is my home sweet home and I would love to share it with you.

Why they chose this property

I purchased this home because it is very private (few neighbors), and it's spectacular ocean views and location away from everything yet close enough to get to it all including Resorts, golf, restaurants, shopping and the best beaches in the world in less than 5 minutes by car. (We are up a hill so that is why I say "car".) Too steep after being at the beach! LOL

The views are probably the best in the area as the location is on the edge of the neighborhood with thousands of acres of vacant land adjacent to the lower gardens.
It's quiet, with peaceful tranquility and a place to truly relax and let go. Maui County noise ordinances are very strict. No noise after 9PM to 8AM.

What makes this property unique

This is a VERY PRIVATE ESTATE because we have few full time neighbors. There are thousands of undeveloped acres to the south and second homes surround us. We recently added a beautiful large outdoor shower beneath the banana trees
Clothing Optional areas.

You may not want to leave the MauiJOY Villa as the large swimming pool overlooks the vast ocean from the West Maui Mountains, across to the island of Lana'i, Molokini Crater, Kahoolawe and up to Haleakala.
The lower gardens have quiet places for you to meditate, exercise and yes, we have a Pavillion where you can enjoy a romantic dinner or just a nice snooze in the afternoon.
There are few street lights in this area providing the most amazing views of the vast night sky. We have a green uplight just above the driveway so you will know where to pull in at night.
The views of the Milky Way are brilliant! I use "Sky Guide" app as we can see and learn so much about our universe. I also have a telescope!
The full moon reflecting in the pool provides romantic lighting while the fragrant flowers fill the air with their perfume. Yes, this is paradise and it can be yours.
