Welcome to Smoky Mountain Memories, a majestic seven-bedroom/eight-bathroom Gatlinburg cabin rental that sleeps up to 20 guests. This sprawling 100 Collection™ property is loaded with amenities, and it offers ample space and long-range views. SMM is the former residence of Dot and Ralph Egli, the founder of Mountain Laurel Chalets. This home has been painstakingly transformed into a retreat that honors the Egli family legacy and provides the finest in vacation living.

Upon entering the property’s main level, guests will immediately feel a warm sense of welcome. To the left, a spacious sitting area sets a peaceful mood, offering a direct view of Mt. LeConte beyond the windows. A large fully-stocked kitchen is situated to the right, and it has everything you need to prepare large meals in the comfort of your home away from home (just bring groceries). The kitchen’s sub-zero refrigerator, double ovens, and a warming drawer make cooking a breeze. Beyond the kitchen, a dining area boasts an oversized table with plenty of seating, perfect for shared meals and game play. A few more steps take you into the cozy sunroom, which features a wall of windows that frame the beauty of the mountains. A gas fireplace adds to the ambience of the space.

The main level is home to five king-sized bedrooms. The largest bedroom boasts a set of twin bunk beds, and an ensuite bathroom. Three more king suites offer private bathrooms, and the last king bedroom has access to a full hallway bathroom. Each bedroom has a large SmartTV, on which you can access Netflix and other popular streaming services (just bring your login credentials). Streaming shows is a breeze, thanks to SMM’s robust wifi network.

The main level deck allows guests to relax and enjoy epic views of the Smokies, with Mt. LeConte framed front and center. Plenty of rocking chairs are available, and a set of stairs lead down to the large yard area below.

Downstairs, you’ll immediately be captivated by the large theater room, complete with built-in reclining seating. Enjoy a movie or the big game as a group on the 80” screen, and from the comfort of home! Just beyond the theater, a large game room awaits. A pool table, foosball, a game table, a 50” TV, and more will have you engaged in a little friendly competition in no time! A lower level sunroom features more comfy seating arrangements, another TV, and easy access to the side yard.

The lower level offers one king suite with a private bath. It also boasts a bunk room with two sets of twin bunks beds and a kitchenette, as well as another king bedroom. These two bedrooms share access to a bathroom.

As you step into the sizable side yard, guests will be delighted to find a large flagstone fire pit, an oversized hot tub, and even a quaint playhouse for the children in the group. A new oversized charcoal grill offers a fun opportunity to prepare dinner in the beauty of the Smokies.

Guests of this Gatlinburg cabin rental have access to three clubhouses, the closest to Smoky Mountain Memories being the Upper Alpine Clubhouse, which has a large outdoor pool, a wading pool with a fountain (for youngsters), showers/changing rooms, and a game room with a pool table, foosball, air hockey, video games, and chess/checkers.

Mountain Majesty

The view from the front of the house is absolutely amazing! We actually fought over who would do the dishes because of the view from the kitchen sink! The house is extremely accommodating and yet very cozy. It is beautifully decorated. The privacy was perfect! The children played in the playhouse and the adults used the hot tub. Everything was spot on!

Early Birthday Party & Christmas

My family & I had a great stay in the smokies at this beautiful home. The house was spacious, the beds were comfy, and the kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils once could need. We didn't get snow but we loved sitting in the rocking chairs out on the front deck/drive. The house was older, but clean except some stains on the carpets. Recycling would be nice & it was a little steeper of a drive than anticipated. Overall it was the perfect house for a large family gathering. They even left flowers for my mom since I said we were celebrating her 80th birthday.

The view from the kitchen and back of the house is amazing! The house was clean and well equipped. It could use more large skillets and some wine glasses, otherwise it was well equipped. We enjoyed the theater room where we watched some old home movies. The carpet in bedrooms is starting to show wear and may need replacing soon but overall the house looked great!

Smoky Mtn Memories was one of the best I've seen. The owners skimped at nothing. The check-in and check-out process was very easy and the staff in the office were very nice. We normally stay at a very large modern home with a grand entrance, oversized living room, and very open floorplan. This house was not that, but it was still fantastic! Everyone loved it. I liked how it felt like a homey mountain house but it did not have cheeky trinkets around the house with family photos etc. They did a very good job of making you feel like you were home and in a comfortable cozy space with nicely appointed décor and art that wasn’t cheesy like Cracker Barrel or grandma lived there. The hot tub was separate from the house, a short walk through nice grass. It was not covered with a roof, which we loved, because it made us really enjoy being outside surrounded by nature. The fire pit next to the hot tub was fun (bring firewood). The house was very clean and neat, linens and towels were fresh. There was tiny motel style bar soap in every bathroom. Bring shampoo. There was no squirt hand soap in the whole house. So definitely bring some of that for the kitchen at least. Lots of parking. We fit 3 cars in the driveway directly next to house, end to end. 2 cars fit under carport and we put one perpendicular behind them. Then there is a satellite lot down their driveway about 100 yards where you could fit 3 or 4 cars if needed.

We really liked that there were enough bathrooms that no couples had to share. The property was very cozy and there were plenty of areas for us to come together as a group and hang out without being cramped. The only negative I can think of was the trash situation. We had so much trash that we ran out of space in the bins outside.

A Place of Peace

We rented this home for a family getaway and it was exactly what we wanted and needed! We especially loved the reclining chairs in the movie room and the fact that the house just kind of goes on and on! There was room for everyone! We pretty much stayed in our pajamas the whole time. :) Check-in was so easy and the management company was very helpful! Kitchen is very well stocked and the view was absolutely breathtaking each morning! We will be back!

There are enough activities available from the pool table and hot tub, walking trails below the house and even a fire pit in the back yard that people of all ages will keep busy enjoying all the amenities. Homey with an Awesome View

We have stayed in many cabins but this house was our favorite. Had everything we needed, and awesome view. Beds were comedy/clean and plenty of them. Fit our group perfectly. Everyone said go ahead and book for next year.

Perfect location for MANY Smoky Mountain Memories!

If you're looking for a cookie cutter home where everything is new and pristine- this is not the place for you. If you're ok with a few cobwebs and stains on the carpet and a home FILLED with character and love, then this IS the place for you and your group. We absolutely loved the charm and hominess of the Chalet Village. There were a few things that didnt work or broke during our stay and while the app they suggest is completely useless- as soon as the main office heard directly from us of our issues they fixed them promptly. The home was spacious with plenty of room for our group of 20 to spread out and not feel cramped. The beds were incredibly comfortable and clean. We had everything we needed in the kitchen but did bring along a few extra things just based on how much our group eats (second crock pot, griddle and extra cookie sheets). We loved the outside- from the deck with the rocking chairs to the side yard with the hot tub that we used daily. We even encountered a black bear who did indeed open one of our car doors! (They mean it when they tell you to lock your doors- even in the middle of the day!!). If driving on the mountains up steep roads with no railings makes you nervous, you might reconsider this location. But if you're comfortable with it- the views are 100% worth it! We had the best time and would absolutely stay with Mountain Laurel again. *I took one star off for cleanliness just because you can tell that they clean the homes as quickly as possible to turn around for the next group. Inevitably, there were things that were missed. Not enough to bother our group (we can wipe tooth paste off a door handle and handle a few carpet stains) but enough I felt warranted 4/5 stars *As mentioned, we had some issues and tried filling out the form on the app to report them. Don't waste your time. Just call directly down or stop by the main office. Once they knew of our issues they came up right away (broken door handle on front door one day and blown breaker the next. Nothing major, really!). So just skip the app and call them directly!
