High up in Seelisberg is Haus Eins – the first of its kind. Consistently built from natural materials, it combines comfort, ecology and the courage to break new ground. Experience this pioneering project and its large garden for yourself.
Haus Eins not only has an incredible origin story, but it also does important educational work. You would think building a house out of wood, clay, hemp and stone and no chemicals would be the most natural thing in the world. In fact, the natural carpenter and pioneer Lukas Gwerder had to research and try out a lot, as well as learn old techniques, because the use of pure natural materials is unfortunately rarely practiced anymore.
As a guest, you can immediately feel the heart and soul that goes into literally every centimeter here. The construction took over eight years and now Majken, Emanuel and their children live in the house and rent it out to interested guests who also want to enjoy a more sustainable life.
The house doesn't just smell good, it's also the organic shapes and the good indoor climate that create an incredibly cozy atmosphere. The large windows allow plenty of light into the interior and in the bedrooms walls made of pine wood have a calming effect and promote relaxation. But the most fascinating thing is that the house is at the same time very modern and offers every comfort. What's more, it's a dream home with a natural pool, fireplace, wine cellar, hot tub and sauna.
For families or a group of friends who want to soak up a lot of nature, you can't really imagine a more beautiful place. The cozy kitchen-living room with the warm clay oven, the reading room with the cozy pedestal or the huge garden. This house is full of inspiring ideas and loving details. It is a house for eternity and at the same time - with the exception of a few parts - completely compostable. It really couldn't be more sustainable.
