Gorgeous studio cottage less than 1/2 mile from Western Carolina University!
Catamount Cottage is a quaint retreat for either a single traveler or a couple. This fully renovated studio cottage is situated on a private drive in a small residential area just a stone's throw from Western Carolina University. Originally built as a wood workshop by the first owner, a former WCU football coach, the cottage is tucked under the main house and has it's own private driveway.
The current owners wanted to honor the original vision by keeping the rustic exterior, but the inside of the cottage is brand new. This modern and upscale retreat is outfitted for a cozy stay. The kitchen, complete with granite countertops and an eat-in bar, has all of the amenities you might need if your preference is staying in and cooking for yourself. You can sink into the full-size bed and watch Netflix or read a book on the leather armchair. If there is work to do, you can utilize the dedicated high-speed internet and work at the counter-height bar or outside on the front deck. If your preference is going out, the towns of Sylva and Dillsboro are an easy 15-minute drive with award-winning restaurants to choose from!

Conveniently located near Western Carolina University, the Smoky Mountains, Cherokee and Maggie Valley, this place is wonderfully decorated and has everything needed for a quiet weekend stay. Excellent appliances, cooking tools and tableware along with fresh plush towels, comfortable bed linens make this a home away from home. The bath is small but doable even for a big person like me. The local cats are friendly but not intrusive. The deck provides a beautiful view of the mountains through the trees. There is minimal road noise. There are stairs so be prepared for that. I would definitely recommend.
Small but delightful accommodations right on the edge of WCU campus. Easy to walk, drive or bike to campus activities. TV with Netflix and Alexa music included. Plan to book additional stays here.
I enjoyed my stay at this cute, quaint cottage. I was visiting my daughter at WCU and it is so convenient and close to campus. Has everything you need and is super cozy and perfect for me when I come visit!
Checkin was easy, the space was as described and photographed, and conveniently located. Lots of thoughtful details throughout the Catamount Cottage made it a comfortable place to spend multiple nights.
The cottage was fantastic! Close to WCU, in the hills, private, clean, lovely decor and in a great location! The host was responsive and good at communicating. I would definitely stay there again!
The unit is really clean and the proximity to campus is second to none! Perfect stay for moving a student in or out, attending an event at Western Carolina, or just a quiet get-a-way! Very happy to have found this hidden gem!
The cabin matched the detailed description on VRBO to the point. Cyndy was very responsive and great to work with. Beautiful updated cabin, small, but perfect for me.
We had the best time at this cute cottage on a visit to visit our son who attends WCU. The cottage was way more than we anticipated and we will definitely be back.
We stayed here for move-in weekend. It was perfect for the two of us. Awesome use of the space and decorated nicely. Conveniently located very close to campus. Great communication with the owner as well. We hope to stay here again during our next visit!
Absolutely adorable, spotless, beautifully decorated small studio. My regret is not staying longer. Virtually adjacent to the CWU campus but secluded and remote enough that you will feel far away. Highly recommended. I will definitely stay here again.
I booked so I could celebrate my son’s twentieth birthday with him. He’s a sophomore at WCU. I loved the property. It was beautiful and quaint. And I especially loved being so close to the campus. Thanks for a wonderful time.
