Convertible bed(s)
We start with a Cal King bed found in major 5-star resorts. We create a "blissful bed" dressing it with several layers of softness. Begin with two mattress pads. One is for the ultimate in hygiene protection and a second cover that not only adds another layer of protection but has a high loft. Next, we added a gel pad for cool softness, which can be removed for those liking a more firm bed. Next, we use high thread-count sheets. We rotate colorful tropical quilts. In winter we take a cotton duvet, filled with silk fiber and we cover the duvet with a cotton duvet cover. We offer our guests an extra light-weight cotton quilt that we keep available. For a little pizzaz, we finish the bed with an elegantly embroidered bed scarf. Crawl into bed and the ocean-cooled air gets pulled into the bedroom through an interior breezeway (ocean-view ). if needed turn on the Haiku fan., candle, hear the ocean lull. Still warm? Turn on the AC. Sweet dreams as the ocean sounds lul you to sleep.

Map
The condo's beach is on Kauai's Gold Coast, a snorkeler's paradise. Our beach, "Lawal" or "Beach House Beach" on Poipu Beach, is rated the best snorkeling on the island by Sunset Magazine: Snorkel different times of the day to see different kinds of fish (650+ types in the islands). Watch endangered giant sea turtles from the lanai. In front of the lanai is a shore dive, and some of the best surfing is right out the door: PK’s, Centers, and Acid Drop. In the winter watch humpback whales. An endangered monk seal with her pup sun themselves on our beaches. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, markets and galleries, small boat harbor, Spouting Horn, the Allerton National Botanical Gardens, Baby Beach and more. We are next to the Beach House Restaurant, rated the best restaurant on Kauai 15+ years in a row. Across the street is a Hawaiian Heiau, sacred to Hawaiians with a historic fishpond. Markers lead us through the park with views out to the ocean. Our microclimate is sunny throughout the winter. Because of how the roads are designed we are a central coastal location: Sightsee, Hike, Bike, Sail, Boogie Board, visit the nationally acclaimed Tropical Botanical Gardens ( one mile, next to the blowhole 'Spouting Horn'), sea and river kayak (Kauai is the only Hawaiian island with navigable rivers), boat tours (catamarans leave from Port Allen to the awe-inspiring Na Pali Coast), Helicopter, movie site ATV, horseback riding, zip line, tubing, SUP, greatest array of public golf courses is on Kauai. From your door, take a walk along Poipu's dramatic coastline to the Kukuiula Harbor, passing a Tom Weiskopf designed golf course. Our location is designated nationally as one of the most scenic drives in America. The Holo Holo Byway slowly meanders through Poipu, beginning with the magical Tunnel of Trees, winding through historic Koloa Town, once a sugar mill. then makai (toward the ocean) to our condo, ending at Spouting Horn and the National Tropical Botanical Gardens, about a mile from your home away from home and where the road ends, limiting traffic. Because no roads are cutting through the center of Kauai nor on the Napali Coast, the south shore is centrally located for touring the entire island. Relaxing on the lanai or in reclining chairs in our 'Jewel on the Sea,' with its multi-million dollar view of the ever-changing sea and sky, and turtles feeding below would be enough. Take a walk through the sacred park, imagining what life used to be like while enjoying the fragrant scents of plumerias. Pick up a mango to enjoy later. Walk to the shops at Kukuiula for a delicious meal, then stroll art galleries, the organic soap store (where we buy your bath soap), and peruse unique shops for home decor and clothing. Bring your bags for the Wed night farmer's culinary market where we buy home-grown exotic fruits and vegetables while listening to live soft Hawaiian music. Restaurants from afar bring their delicious dishes. Walk another direction, passing our neighbor's gorgeous bonsai garden, down to the resorts on that golden crescent beach, stopping in for drinks or some soup before strolling back. Get home before sunset to watch our new resident parakeets fly in to roost. I like to keep them a secret, but they are adorable with sweet faces and bright green feathers with red and yellow markings. Enjoy the sunset and watch the tiki torches being lit. Go back home and layout under the stars on the lanai chaise lounges, close your eyes and listen to the calming ocean lull.

When we were younger we lived in a cottage overlooking the ocean in Southern California and sadly had to leave. We never dreamed we could ever live by the beach again. Years later, we went on vacation to Kauai as a reprieve from taking care of our ailing parents. At the time we asked a local man about the best place to snorkel on the island. He told us about a small beach by the Beach House Restaurant. We ended up snorkeling there every day of that vacation. The reef was filled with colorful fish, the turquoise water was calm and access was easy. Being in the water there was such a joyful experience! We never dreamed of the possibility of owning a condo on Kauai, let alone on our favorite snorkeling beach, but it happened! It gives us great joy to share our 'Jewel on the Sea' with our guests. Over the years we have stayed in contact with many of our guests, some who return year after year. We host a Facebook page that is dedicated to all things Kauai, where you can meet local residents, make plans in advance of your trip and get referrals from our past guests. We are so grateful to provide a beautiful tropical oceanfront home for your special experience on Kauai. We enjoy getting to know our guests and will help you with ideas for your trip. We still live in the San Diego area, in a north coastal town called Encinitas. Dreaming of becoming Kauai residents someday. In the meantime, we love working on our Kauai Jewel. We love the arts and have commissioned beautiful pieces that enhance your experience in the space. Every year we continue to make improvements staying with the Hawaiian theme. We take great pride in our work on our 'Jewel on the Sea' and continue to do everything possible to add to your enjoyment. Hope you stay with us! We are sure you are going to love it! FYI: We never ask our guests to wire money and we do not advertise on Craig's list

Why Molla and Kevin Wallace chose Poipu
Kuhio Shores is where, as one guest described it, 'the location is the destination.' It is closer to the water than any other resort or condo on the island and perhaps, in all of the islands, with swimmable beaches for snorkeling, diving and surfing right at the condo. No need to get into a car. You will hear the sounds of the ocean day and night. From our wall of windows and the lanai, you can watch the day turn into night with spectacular sunrises, relax on the lanai while the cool aqua waves roll past the lanai and turtles feed below. Witness a passing shower and rainbows over the water and the tropical greens of Prince Kuhio Park, the sacred birthplace of Prince Kuhio, with its ancient fish pond. In winter we get excited by the sighting of a breaching whale. Walk over to the Beach House Restaurant for a delicious meal or bring a drink down to the beach to watch the magnificent sunset. Head back up to the condo to lay on the chaise lounges under the evening stars or gaze at the full moon reflecting over the water. We never tire of the constant lull and beauty of the ocean. Our Jewel on the Sea, #305 Kuhio Shores, exceeds our dreams. I have to give kudos to our staff who have never failed to make sure that when you walk in, the condo is clean and ready for you to enjoy an experience of a lifetime.
What makes this condo unique
As soon as we opened the door of our 'Jewel on the Sea' we knew we were home and we had to make it happen. We didn't see this at the time (the view would have been enough), but right below our condo is where turtles feed. I have been told by guests who had previously lived in the islands that they have seen more turtles below our lanai during their stay than in all the years that they had lived in Hawaii. We marry the luxury of upscale resorts with the comfort of a fine home. During a flight back to the mainland an idea came to us about how to increase the airflow. The positioning of our condo in the building was already ideal but now, after creating a 'breezeway,' the condo interior is like a cool wind tunnel and sometimes we need to turn the fans off at night in the summer. With the first cut into the wall we could feel the air getting pulled throughout the entire condo and unexpectedly, we created an ocean view in the bedroom. Next we installed the best fans on the market according to CNet, the 'Haiku,' American made by the Big Ass Fan Company (yes that is the name!!). These hanging sculptural fans circulate the cool ocean air, allowing us to feel comfortable while listening to the calming ocean lull. Just to make sure you are always comfortable, this last year we installed Air Conditioning so you will always be comfortable. Nothing gives us greater joy than to please our guests. The condo is filled with a love that is palpable from all of our guests who are celebrating their honeymoon, wedding on Kauai, birthday, anniversary, and the joy of taking a vacation on this most beautiful island; a place that we feel is the most beautiful in the world. From what we hear from cognitive science, experiences rather than things make us happy because they create lifetime memories,. We are passionate about creating a beautiful, comfortable home for you so that those experiences made here will stay with you always.
