The Neighborhood
Our home is located in the North Mountain neighborhood of Phoenix, which encompasses an area of 35 square miles with a population of around 200,000. Median household income in the area is 15% above the Phoenix average, median rent paid is 10% above the Phoenix average, the percentage of married-couple families with children is 8% higher than the Phoenix average and Percentage of married-couple families with both working is 33% higher than the Phoenix average.
The home is located in a solid middle class neighborhood, with a mix of business owners, white collar workers and blue collar tradespeople. The neighborhood is safe and stable, with little turnover, most homeowners having owned their homes for at least 25-40 years. We have an active neighborhood association that protects our neighborhood and creates a real sense of community among home owners.
My home is centrally located, only minutes from all major freeways, and is only 15 minutes from really any where that you would ever want to go. Here are the distances from my house:

10 miles West (10 min): Gila River Arena which hosts NHL Arizona Coyotes and special events like the Harlem Globetrotters and many others.
13 miles South (15 min): Downtown Phoenix with Convention Center, museums, restaurants, bars, professional sports teams like MLB AZ Diamondbacks, NBA Phoenix Suns, etc.
17 miles South (20 min): Phoenix International Airport and Sun Devil Stadium, home of NCAA Division Arizona State University (ASU Sun Devils)
22 miles East (27 minutes): Scottsdale with Phoenix Open, Barrett Jackson Classic Car Auction, Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix Zoo, etc.
10 miles North: the best open desert and hiking trails available anywhere!
Easy walking distance to 3 pubs, Target, Dennys, Starbucks, etc
Short 5 minute drive to the Metro Center area with a new 148,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter (expected to be completed in 2017). It also has many surrounding top family restaurants like, Olive Garden, Chili's, Chipotles, Red Lobster, Sizzler, Panera Bread, Texas Roadhouse, Black Angus Steakhouse, Outback Steakhouse, Native Grill and Wings, Sweet Tomatoes, etc.
Major grocery stores, shopping and malls within minutes
Recreation: Hiking, Golf, Tennis, Pool, Bike Riding
Getting around
The Bus is located only 1 block away. Light rail train to downtown is located only 3 miles away.

About the host
Hosted by Property Manager/Owner

My wife and I are small business owners. We have run a small advertising and marketing business for over 25 years now and are grateful that we have been able to make a living at it. We enjoy walking, hiking, golfing, good food, great wine, live theatre, NFL, NBA, MLB (ok that's mostly me), our grandchild, our family, our friends, our faith.
We love Arizona! It's beautiful. It's sunny and up lifting. There are a ton of things to do here. We have really grown to love all of the outdoor activities like walking, biking, hiking, golfing, camping and ATV'ing out in the desert.
It's also relatively inexpensive to live here. We are so glad that we chose Arizona over California. Purchasing our home here is one of the best decisions that we have ever made.

Why they chose this property
We purchased this property for several reasons:
1. A Central Location
We wanted a central Phoenix location to access all of the services and facilities that only a major city can offer and wanted to avoid long commutes into the City. Our location is only 3 miles from the I-17 Interstate Freeway, which is the halfway point between the 101 East Loop (dissects Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler) and 101 West Loop (dissects Glendale, Peoria, Sun City, Surprise) We like to say that we can get anywhere that we want to go in 15 minutes.
2. A large, well built, one level home
We really love one level style of living. It's just easier to do everything. We also love that our one level space is not cramped; it's a large, 2400SF 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. We love that it's constructed with solid, beautiful, brown brick blocks that will endure forever. Finally, we renovated the home from top to bottom three years ago, giving it a fresh, modern look. It's like a brand new home!
3. A large, totally private, corner lot.
My wife and I like our privacy. The last thing we want in a home is a postage stamp sized lot sandwiched between two other postage stamp sized lots. (Been there, done that!) You can't even flush a toilet without the neighbors knowing about it. You also have little privacy in the backyard. Our corner lot, combined with a 7 foot high block fence surrounding our back yard gives us both room to breath and total privacy.
4. A solid, close knit, single family home neighborhood.
We have been blessed to travel all over the world. One of the things we like to do when we travel is to absorb the local culture. That's why we decided against buying in a gated community. It offers no more security than a home with a strong community block watch, and we wanted to hang out with locals from Phoenix, not strangers from out of town. It was a great decision. We have become close friends with many of our neighbors. We eat together, go golfing, ATV'ing, hiking, or just hang out.

What makes this property unique
We love the space.
We have more than one living area in this house, we have three. We have a sunken formal living off the dining room, another large living area that we call our games room, and an area we call the den. The den is my favorite room in the house because it has a floor to ceiling, wood burning, brick block fireplace. It's also located just off the back patio/pool area, so I like to open the French Doors leading to the outside patio and read a book or work on my laptop while I listen to the many exotic birds that surround the back yard. Many of these birds live in nearby mature trees, and some have even burrowed their way into neighborhood Saguaro Cacti. Very relaxing.
We love the kitchen.
My wife and I love to cook and the U shaped design of the kitchen puts everything we need at our fingertips. We also love that there is plenty of counter space and tons of cupboard space.
We love the sunken living room adjacent to the dining room. This area is a spacious gathering place where people tend to congregate whenever we have people over. Also the big screen TV & DirecTV
We love our large, corner lot.
It is totally private. With the 7 foot high block fence, we can hang out with our neighbors when we want to, but also be by ourselves when we want privacy.
We love that it has been totally renovated.
It's been awhile since we've had a new house, so when we renovated this home from top to bottom several years ago, we now have a brand new home with a modern look, modern appliances and new furnishings.
We love our covered patio.
When we want to get out of the sun we can move into the shade of our patio. The patio cover also offers protection from those rare occasions when it actually does rain.
We love our neighborhood and neighbors. We've become close friends with many of them. We do a lot of things together. A close knit group that watches out for each other. It's great!
