We can certainly understand why that would be frustrating. We'd also like to provide additional context regarding the concerns you raised. When the air conditioning issue was first reported, it was after business hours, making it impossible to dispatch an HVAC technician that evening. Additionally, our House Manual asks guests not to set the thermostat below 68°F, as doing so can cause the system to freeze and temporarily stop cooling. Because of the extreme heat wave occurring during their stay, we also proactively sent all guests an additional message specifically reminding them not to set the thermostat below 68°F. Because you confirmed the thermostat had been operated below that temperature at 58°F, our team first had to determine whether the issue was related to system operation or an actual mechanical failure before a technician could accurately diagnose the problem. The following day, a member of our team visited the property, adjusted the system, and both our team member and your party confirmed that cool air was blowing from the vents. When you later reported the issue had returned, we immediately scheduled an HVAC technician for the earliest available appointment. The technician diagnosed a mechanical issue, ordered the necessary parts that same day, and the repair was scheduled for the first available installation date. While waiting on the repair, we delivered additional fans to the home and provided recommendations to help circulate the cooled air throughout the house. Regarding the back door, as soon as you shared your concerns, we provided a security bar so you would feel more comfortable while we investigated the issue. After checkout, our maintenance team inspected the door and confirmed the lock was functioning properly. The remaining concerns described in your request—including the cleanliness of the home, the washing machine, and the condition of items within the property—were not reported to us during your stay. Throughout the reservation we remained in regular communication with you, and had we been made aware of those concerns at the time, we would have gladly sent our housekeeping or maintenance team to address them. It seems like, from your perspective, because several issues occurred during an important family trip, you feel a full refund—and reimbursement for additional expenses—is the only fair outcome. At the same time, we also have a responsibility to evaluate what occurred based on the documented timeline and the actions taken by our team. Throughout your stay we responded to each concern that was reported, sent a team member to the property, coordinated HVAC service at the earliest available opportunity, ordered the necessary repairs, and provided additional equipment to help improve your comfort while awaiting the repair. After carefully reviewing the reservation, we are not able to approve reimbursement for the reservation, restaurant expenses, groceries, or any other additional costs requested. While we sincerely regret that an unexpected HVAC repair was needed during your stay, we believe our team responded promptly, professionally, and in good faith throughout the reservation.
