The Lodge is complete with Knotty Pine interior and slate floors in the kitchen and dining area. The Great Room has a beautiful flagstone fireplace. Dining area has a separate woodstove to warm up by.

We provide DSL, T.V., DVD, an outdoor grill, fire pit, picnic tables on both porch and tower (110 electric on deck). Fly fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing, star gazing @ Cherry Springs State Park , geo-caching. Direct snowmobiling and horseback riding from the Lodge. Numerous state parks and the PA Grand Canyon with 30 minutes drive. Fly fishing only streams (Little Kettle) 15 minutes away. PA Wild Areas are a short drive.

Stay here!

This cabin was an amazing experience for us. It was cozy, clean, and in a good location. Private but not too far away from state parks and town. It even had a star gazing tower that you could go up and view the stars. I would stay here again and would highly recommend this cabin.

Cozy Cabin

I chose this cabin because it was one of the few that offered a wood burning fireplace and it made a romantic Valentine’s Day weekend perfect. The cabin itself was perfectly quaint and rustic. It was clean and inviting. Didn’t explore the surrounding area too much as it was snowing but it provided a perfect secluded getaway Positioned where it was in the mountains it was quiet and private.My girlfriend and I are looking to make a tradition out of staying at this location. We were very happy with it.

Valley Vista Stay

Had a great time! The lodge was well appointed and even roomier than expected. The listing pictures don't do it justice! The property offered great views of the surrounding hills and valleys. We hope tocome back.

weekend get away

Cabin is very nice. Heed the 4x4 warning! Great location and if the weather would have cooperated, I'm sure the star gazing would have been amazing at that location.

Great stargazing location!

My partner and I stayed here for a few days with our dog. It was very quiet and comfortable, with a large field to walk in and an indoor fireplace. We intended to go, but never actually went, to cherry springs state park, since we were happy with the solitude and view from the observation tower. I'd be happy to stay here again.

Great property and price

This was my first visit to Cherry Springs. And after staying up here, I will definitely be doing so again. The house and land are well-equipped for all four seasons, the tower is perfect for stargazing, and everything is just spacious enough for a small group or family.

Wonderful location

Wish we had more than just the weekend to explore the area. So much to do close by that we didnt have time for. But our daughter got a wonderful picture of the milkyway taken from the platform in the field, so she was thrilled. The cabin was nice. Would stay again.

Simply Amazing!

Property and location were fantastic, especially for my needs: to take photos of the night sky. Benn was amazing in his support of my needs both before and during the trip. Everything was better than expected, and I will definitely be going back.

Great do-over

We stayed last year to checkout the dark skies in midwinter but had completely overcast skies. This was a great do-over. Benn was accommodating again as he was last year. The property is in a great location. Extremely peaceful and a great getaway spot. We had clear skies and the best star view ever.

Responsive property owner

The location is perfect. The area is so quiet and feels remote but is only a short drive to whatever we needed. By the way, try Trails End at the Waldheim. We had a few minor issues, but Benn was extremely responsive and did everything he could to solve the problem or offer alternatives.

Starry sky

The cement pad with an air mattress provided us with a gateway to the Milkyway. The house was spotless, and the kitchen had all the cooking utensils you could want. We plan to come back next year with the grandkids.

Remote Work Stargazing

Had a wonderful stay. My partner and I planned to work remotely for the week and we weren't sure what to expect from the Wifi, but we were both able to take meetings at the same time with no issues. Property is cleaner and brighter than the pictures show. Sink water was clean and fresh, shower was hot. Nothing not to love! (except for the mouse who greeting us when we arrived, but once he figured out that people were home, he hid away and didn't bother us again).

Very relaxing stay

We had a wonderful stay at the lodge! We were there for the Perseid meteor shower, and the stargazing was excellent from the tower. Benn and his family are generous, friendly hosts, and we felt very comfortable on the property. We stocked up on groceries before our arrival, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook and grill during our stay. There are some nice hikes very close to the lodge and a pick-your-own blueberry field just 5 minutes down the road. The views from the lodge and tower are perfect for watching the sunset. We had a relaxing, peaceful stay, and we would definitely come back!

A Million Stars

We had the most amazing time. The property might possibly be the most beautiful spot in Pennsylvania! The pictures do not do it justice :-) The house was clean and had everything we could possibly need. The observation deck was the perfect place to look out over the country. The stars were magnificent and the whole reason we stayed, but we were pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the farms and surrounding hills and woods. There is also a field of grass/wildflowers that fills the air with an amazing scent. We loved this place.

Stars and solitude

This is our second time staying at the lodge, and it was just as good as the first stay. If your intent is to stargaze this is the property for you, the observatory tower puts you above the treeline for spacious views. We arrived during the new moon and the Milky Way was gorgeous. My husband set up his equipment and was able to capture wonderful pictures. What I enjoy most about this property is the solitude and quiet; it's a soul balm for me. I also enjoy hiking in Susquehannock which is accessible from the property. The lodge was comfortable and clean; we enjoyed ourselves very much. Benn is always available if you have any questions.

Comfortable farmhouse

Fun hikes, friendly (though very few) people and a beautiful peaceful setting. We were a little bummed to not get to stay in the original house we booked, with an observation tower (we were switched to the owners farmhouse because the original property needed repairs), but with smoke from Canadian fires and nearly full moons (novice stargazer here) it was very hard to stargaze anyways. My kids especially enjoyed the backyard fire pit and making s’mores. Remember to bring towels for all different purposes: we remembered bath towels but forgot dish towels, small towels to dry our hands in the bathrooms and washcloths. Woops! In any case, we had a great stay!!

Amazing property, home, and host

The description and listing was completely accurate, the property was clean, Benn was an amazing and friendly host, I would definitely recommend this property to anyone, and we really enjoyed the stargazing. We came as a group of 9 from nyc to view the night sky and it was absolutely beautiful. This particular property has a tall deck which was really nice to have. There are two bedrooms and a loft with rows of beds. Everything was clean. The house also has dsl which was really helpful for a friend. As far as shopping for groceries and beer goes, Galeton (~30 min drive) has everything you need. I didn't expect it to have as much as it did so we stocked up on a lot of food from Wal-Mart (~1.5hrs drive) which wasn't really necessary. I loved everything about this place and having Benn as our host was a pleasure.

so very quiet and relaxing

The Valley Vista is a refuge of peace. The name is accurate, with valleys descending on all sides. Had everything we needed for an enjoyable, relaxing time. Cell service is spotty, so we utilized the wifi for messaging. For suburbanites like us, it felt very remote, but in truth we weren't too far from civilization if we needed anything. Plentiful state parks, streams, trails, and beauty surrounded us. Only warning would be roads--definitely not a place for low vehicles, especially in cold months, and we were there in a dry spell so there was some airborne dust in places. (Description already notes that 4-wheel drive is recommended, so we were prepared.) Truly a gorgeous place, sky full of stars at night, and extremely restful. Thanks to owners! Got right back to us with any questions--great experience. Highly recommend!

Serene beauty with stunning views

It's a Miyazaki-level of beauty and location. It feels like a sin to 'get accustomed' to the view after a few days. We had 2 clear nights of watching the hint of a milky way to appear within the comforts of 'home'. Very roomy, we had up to 9 that fit comfortably, especially at that table. Note there is only one bathroom! Lots of kitchen provisions, just needs to add another shot glass. ;-P So private that our dogs (who are behaved) could run free, but beware of the bear at the garbage can in the morning! Put that lid on! (The big lug was more interested in the garbage he stole than me or the dog he surprised.) Quaint towns surrounding. The nearby mini-golf is a great 'last day' adventure. Great location for a day trip to the Grand Canyon of PA and the town of Wellsboro for shopping (great gaming store!).

Great stargazing location

We rented four nights for stargazing with our son and his wife. Benn and his daughter were there to greet us with a fresh loaf of home-made bread and the next morning a dozen farm-fresh eggs arrived - yummy! Although we only had one good night for stargazing, we had a wonderful time. The night we had clear skies, we set up on the tower and it was AMAZING. We even saw a momma bear with two cubs in the field in back of the house. This is a private/secluded home with open area for wildlife viewing and star gazing. The pictures of the property are appropriate. The ONLY negative review I would give was the need to wash some kitchen ware before use as though it were put away without a thorough washing. There is no dishwasher (except oneself:) and these days, some people may not know how to wash dishes by hand. Don't forget to bring personal towels along. Thank you for a great stay. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Once again, the lodge did not disappoint. The views are amazing. The lodge is cozy. Benn was responsive and gracious. One night of clear skies. ❤️ My family loves it here. One of our favorite places.
