Charming Waterfront Cottage – Private Dock, Panoramic Views, and park passes!
**History, charm, private dock, panoramic marsh views, walk to restaurants, on the bike path, includes passes to Huntington Beach State Park and Brookgreen Gardens**
The former home of one of the founding families of this famed fishing village and pioneers in transforming this area into the seafood capital of South Carolina, this historic cottage is steeped in vintage charm. From the expansive wrap-around lawn and dock, you can gaze out at the untouched and pristine Huntington Beach State Park.
We are conveniently located directly on the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway, an 18-mile multi-purpose path that trails through Huntington Beach State Park on its way to Pawleys Island. The Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, lined with seafood restaurants, is just 2 miles north. There are also two restaurants within very short walking distance of the house, Graham's Landing Seafood and Southern Hops Brewery. Huntington Beach State Park and Brookgreen Gardens are 1.5 miles south and both accessible along the bike path. A pass for Huntington Beach State Park and tickets to Brookgreen Gardens are included in your stay.
Our dock has a cozy seating area perfect for a morning cup of coffee, placing you in the middle of one of the most beautiful views in Murrells Inlet. The dock is also perfect for fishing, crabbing, and launching your canoe or kayak, but boat docking is not permitted. (Fishing and crabbing supplies, kayaks, and canoes are not provided.)
More about the history of the home: In the 1950s, Clarence Morse opened the first oyster roast restaurant in Murrells Inlet a short distance away in what is now known as Morse Park Landing. Morse’s home has been maintained and restored, keeping its original design and feel. We are proud to be able to provide our guests the ability to enjoy the seafood capital of South Carolina, while staying under the same roof as one its legendary founders.
At its heart, Murrells Inlet remains a laid back fishing village and this is uniquely personified by Huntington View Inn. As the years pass by, the area around us has grown and become a busy place, but here time seems to be frozen. The land remains the same, our sandy banks unchanged, and inlet views unwavering.
Other things to note: This is a Duplex. You will have the entire upstairs house with a separate entrance, living spaces, AC controls, and designated parking. No motorcycles allowed. No pets allowed. These policies are out of our control, no exceptions. Not suitable for children under 8.

Amazing place. Three friends and I stayed for a golf trip and had the best time here. The dock was a great place to relax and I’m so glad we stayed here.
We had a wonderful time at the cottage. Beautiful views and great location! Perfect for fishing, lounging, and close to one of our favorite beaches- Pawleys Island. Lots of great memories! We look forward to coming back many more times!
We had one of the best vacations ever here, thank you so much!! Definitely want to come back. Also ty for the park pass and tickets to the garden, that was reallly neat.
We had a wonderful stay in this charming beach property. Plenty of room to spread out. Lovely porch to enjoy my morning coffee and to read. Thank you for the passes to Brookgreen and the state park!
Like visiting Grandma's house! It truly felt like home away from home. For birders and stargazers the private dock was perfect! Huntington Beach Nature Preserve pass was outstanding! We can't wait to visit again!
This house is exactly as advertised and spotlessly clean. If you love watching the sun rise over the marsh in a well-maintained classic Inlet home, this is the place for you. The hosts were so responsive and helpful. The Huntington State Park pass and Brookgreen pass add extra value to this rental.
Everything was wonderful and as expected. Charming beach cottage that has been lived in with lots of memories. There was a slight scent of mold that I detected. No issue for me, but someone who is highly sensitive needs to be aware. To be expected in an old house with lots of books. That being said, it was cozy and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Would stay again. Someone captured it well in a previous review, It felt like coming home to Grandma's house.

Thank you for the great review — we’re so glad you enjoyed your stay! I do just want to clarify. Our cottage is a well-loved historic home with original wood, books, and a tidal creek just beyond the back door, so guests may occasionally notice the natural scent of wood, paper, or salt air. The property also undergoes routine professional mold testing as part of our regular maintenance, has had several recent renovations, and is thoroughly cleaned and inspected after every stay.
This guest enjoyed the full 11 days she booked with us, and we spoke with her several times during her visit. She never once mentioned any concern and even left a long, glowing entry in our guest book at departure.
This cozy, vintage home was located so conveniently to the attractions in Murrels Inlet. We loved that it came with a pass to Huntington Beach--which we visited every day of the trip (the beach was so nice!). The garden tickets were also much appreciated (the zoo was a hit with the kids!). The house itself is very spacious for the price and my kids really liked that they each go their own bed. The views from the deck were great and even though we didn't catch any fish from the dock we had a really fun time watching all the crabs, jellyfish and birds. The location was quite and easy to get to. I can't recommend this place enough!
My family selected this vacation home for our stay because it was very close to Huntington Beach State Park. We enjoyed the quaint antique decor and the spacious property. The house had everything we needed (and very nice sheets/bedding as well!) along with a lovely view of the sound. When we had trouble with the keypad on the door, our hosts were prompt problem solvers. I’d certainly come back.
Jordan was very helpful and in contact throughout the week. The house was exactly as described and very welcoming. We have our annual family trip every year around this time and our family loves the inlet and fishing. We booked this when our normal location was booked bc we had to change our normal week. Glad we found this little piece of heaven. The host was very accommodating and even though i failed to read the part ab no boats, and limited parking she went above and beyond to pacify the neighbors and being they are all family in the area it worked out. The house being a part of Murrells inlet history just made our fishing vacation that much better. It is close to everything yet far away from everything at the same time. I would recommend this place a thousand times over. However i will say dont bring a boat(kayak would have been great) dont bring very small children ( our grandson is 2 and was a joy for us but being we were over the owners downstairs im pretty sure they were glad to see us go and the house is full of antiques and decor that we had to constantly be on our toes to keep him away(spent a lot of money and time with toys to keep him busy) yet the host stil allowed us to have a great week. She offered passes, and tickets to events in the area and checked in to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Again this is a great place to relax, enjoy fishing from the pier or sitting by the inlet enjoying a fire.
We truly enjoyed our stay for the most part! We loved the location on the inlet with a dock—fished from the dock almost every day, loved the hammock and chairs outside along with the breezy porch during thunderstorms. The rental is all upstairs, but that was disclosed in the listing, and no problems going up and down stairs. We also loved being so close to restaurants both within walking distance and driving distance. We used two tickets to the Brookgreens Gardens, and it was so great to see the gardens and the animals! We didn’t know how much we had been missing out! The weather was beautiful for most of the week and we had a great time using the free pass provided to Huntington State Park! The listing was mostly accurate; I would just add pictures of the two bathrooms that were very small with little to no space to put items while getting ready. The mirrors in the bedroom were helpful to put on makeup and do hair for when we went to dinner. The floors were overlooked while cleaning and they were sandy, but we swept and all was well. Overall, we had a fabulous relaxing week!
Slice of Heaven - Came as Strangers - Left as Friends
This historical gem offered the most relaxing vacation you could ever imagine. From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The bedrooms are all large and spacious with crisp, fresh linens and comfortable bedding. The bathrooms are smaller but certainly adequate. The kitchen is loaded with anything you need to prepare and serve meals if you choose.
History abounds with splashes of beach themed touches and charming decorations.
We loved the screened sun porch and then the separate side porch with many places to sit and relax.
Our favorite was the big comfortable cushioned chairs by the marsh. We spent mornings with our coffee and tea watching the plethora of birds singing and looking for breakfast. Fish jumping to tease them and fisherman nearby.
In the evening, the lights strung throughout the trees added a magical touch with their reflection on the water.
If you are looking for a hotel or condo experience this is not the place for you. But if you like the charm and history of an older and solid home with an eclectic mix of old and new, a place where you can immerse yourself in nature and truly relax, don’t pass up this magical experience for everyone of all ages.
Ginger is lovely and we felt like we were kindred spirits. We loved the adorable gift and used the passes for Huntington Beach State Park - which is amazing and Brookgreen Gardens which was an incredible experience.
We can’t wait to return to this very, very special slice of heaven on earth.

About the host

Both natives of the area, my husband and I love everything about Murrells Inlet. We are proud to welcome guests to this historic family cottage and offer an opportunity to stay in the home of one of the founding families of this famed fishing villlage.
Why they chose this property
The cottage is nestled in a quiet, residential community, while also being within walking distance to two great restaurants and located directly on Waccamaw Neck Bike Path.
What makes this property unique
The panoramic views of the water are indescribable! Located on the southern end of Murrells Inlet, our home has views of unspoiled marshes, the inlet, and Huntington Beach State Park. While most inlet homes overlook the homes on the Garden City peninsula, our home has a unique wraparound view with no obstruction and a beautiful dock to place you right in the middle of nature.
