Secluded Oasis in the Desert

Welcome to “The Casita” A lovely private oasis in the desert with Mountain View’s (Mt Graham and the Pena Leña range located in the Gila Valley just south of Safford Arizona. This secluded, owner built guest house is situated on the bank of a large,1/2 acre pond with a 400 sf deck, patio furniture, fire pit, steam sauna, bbq grill, and several amenities including a luxurious king size bed, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, dishes and flatware, a 50” smart tv, dvd player, Bluetooth speaker and a small library of books.

Relax on the deck and enjoy amazing sunsets or lounge on the double recliner inside. There is a walking path and sitting areas around the pond and a lovely host of solar lights accenting the landscaping and sculptures around the pond.

Explore Mt Graham for beautiful views, hiking, camping and fishing. The road leading up the Mountain is minutes away. There is a nearby market and Deli and the Town of Safford is Just 10 miles down the road where you’ll find a movie theater, 4 major grocery stores and plenty of authentic restaurants.

There is a private gated entrance to the casita with a combination lock.

My husband and I had a fantastic experience on our weekend getaway. Our host was amazing and kept in contact with us the entire time we were there!The Casita was adorable and very very comfortable. The pond located on the property was so serene and added to the relaxation we were looking for on our trip. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking to relax and decompress from everyday life.

My wife and I were visiting the area to tour Mt Graham, and found his beautiful property listed. It was so relaxing being able to sit by the fire pit listening to fountain and looking up at the stars. The atmosphere is unlike any other place you will find in the Safford area. Michael was extremely welcoming, especially after he knew we were making the trip a special getaway from parental life. The bed is very comfortable, and given we are from the Phoenix area, we will very likely plan another getaway just to enjoy the property for another quick getaway.

Beautiful property. Secluded but only 15 minutes from Safford city center. Michael, the host, was wonderful. Beautiful deck overlooking a pond with a lighted fountain.

Cute and peaceful with a wonderful sun deck, Qail running on the walls, Coyotes in the wash, and fish skimming the surface of the pond. Far out enough in the country to be serene and restful, yet close enough to town to make shopping convenient.

Truly a desert oasis!

The host, Michael, was wonderful. He communicated and responded promptly answering questions. I wanted to visit the Russian Orthodox Monastery nearby and Michael was the best. He put me in touch with a neighbour of his who was so helpful with best times to visit, etc... Michael's place is absolutely marvellous! Sitting on the patio was one of the highlights. The actual casita was fabulous too. The king size bed was very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need to fix a quick snack. Michael was kind enough to even leave coffee pods for us. The loveseat and recliner were super comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure was good. Oh and the sauna was also a highlight. There were so many little touches that just showed that Michael really wants his guest to be comfortable and to feel welcomed. He even had some wine available to purchase using an easy QR code for Venmo or Zelle. Imagine you are out on the patio in the evening and want a glass of wine but don't want to have to get into your car, drive to a store, and get back. Instead, just walk a couple of feet to the casita, pick a bottle, and Zelle/Venmo Michael...GENIUS! There are too many little touches to list, but sufficed to say...I would go back in a heartbeat and I have absolutely no reservations about 100% recommending Michael's place.💯🤩⛲️🍷🌅

Greetings! And welcome to the Pondo Casita! I’m a retired teacher, musician and real estate investor. I’m a DIY builder and built my home and the Casita from scratch. I am new to the short term rental arena, but enjoy being able to offer a unique experience to those who can appreciate the magic of what this place has to offer

Why they chose this property

The original homestead and pond were settled in 1917. I moved here at the beginning of the millennium with a vision to build a home on the shore of this pond. The property is secluded and peaceful with gorgeous sunrises, sunsets and conveniently close to all the amenities of a rural town.

What makes this property unique

There is nothing more special in the desert than water! This unique property overlooks a half acre pond fed by an artesian spring in a very private setting offering seclusion, privacy and all the comforts you’d expect from a cozy casita in the countryside. Beautiful mountain views, the sound of running water, amazing sunsets, well lit, magical night time landscape and an immersion in nature are all standard features that come with this lovely casa in the desert.
