About this property
1820 Federalist Farmhouse
Built in 1820 in the Federalist style, our farmhouse sits on one acre of partially wooded land directly across the street from the Neshobe Golf Course. The house has 3 bedrooms (sleeps up to 6), two and half baths, a kitchen, a dining area, a library, a sitting room, and a media room. The house’s greatest claim is an original mural hand painted by Brandon’s long-term artist-in-residence, Warren Kimble. The Nest (pictured as bedroom #4) an outbuilding that sleeps up to 4, can be rented for an additional $60 per night.
Our house is a very special place and we absolutely adore it. It's a quintessential New England home with wide-plank floorboards, a clawfoot tub, large windows and a wood stove in both the library (gas-powered) and the kitchen (wood). But it's also an old home with some old-time, quirky features - most notably the stairs.
Stairs: The house has two flights of stairs - one at the front of the house (normal spacing) and one at the back of the house (particularly narrow and steep.) Anyone with unsure footing should avoid using the back stairs. Babies/toddlers should not be allowed near these stairs and the elderly should exercise caution.
Bathrooms/Showers: We have two and a half baths. The full bathroom on the second floor is quite lovely with wainscoting, a step-in shower and a clawfoot tub that overlooks the side yard and back woods. A perfect spot to take a long soak at the end of the day! The shower in the first floor bathroom is particularly small and is more suitable for children. In time, this shower will be updated. But the water is hot and the pressure is just right! A big plus after a day at the lake or up on the slopes.
Air conditioning: There are air conditioning units in all 3 bedrooms of the main house in addition to one unit on the first floor. The Nest is also equipped with an air conditioning unit.

It may sound simple - but the place was exactly as described, very well appointed and complete with every item you would want when you're renting away from home. The host, Tony, was communicative and very responsive to my questions, before and during the stay.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay! The house is amazing! The Warren Kimball mural is to die for.
Tony and Elizabeth were great hosts and we look forward to staying with them again :)
Beautiful, Clean, Spacious, Relaxing, great details
Beautiful restored home, we loved many of the amenities spacious rooms and lovely kitchen. The location is ideal to be near downtown but have privacy. Very clean and ample towels/tp. Love the main bath and bright front bedrooms. Big TV with all the streaming services we needed, Alexa.A few constructive critiques: The King bedroom is a little uncomfortable due to both access points being via either narrow steep stairs or multiple doors in a small hallway - we understand this is due to the age of the home. It was also very hot in the king room and we made do by setting up the fans to blow AC from the front room OR opening the window - however our last night was 80 degrees and nothing worked to cool down the king room so it was difficult to sleep. There's also no AC downstairs, and I think adding just 1 would do the trick to cool things off. The property could use a little weeding/landscaping, as we had to walk through overgrowth to access the house carrying all our luggage/groceries. We could not access the wifi using the password given, no worries because our phones had service, just couldn't get on our laptop. A check-in letter or some house info would be a great idea too. A grill would be a nice addition, as we couldn't find a great way to cook steaks and the cast iron pans were understandably off limits. Again, most of these are just our preferences and we enjoyed the home very much. We used the kitchen a lot and did our best to leave everything as we found it.
