About this place
Come stay in the Whaler's Room at the Carriage House, located in the peaceful hamlet of Old Mystic, a short 2-mi drive to DT! In the Whaler's Welcome, with a private bath and entrance and a bay window overlooking the garden, you'll sleep soundly on a comfy queen pencil bed and double-size antique spindle bed, both dressed in lovely linens, wake up rested to a beautiful mural and cozy up to a gas fireplace on cold nights!
Treat yourselves and be our guests! You be delighted you did!
The space
We promise you will feel cared for the moment you walk through the door- from the warm welcome to a specially prepared bed- made just for you!
The Whaler's Welcome has two charming beds: a pencil-post queen and an antique spindle double/full bed. These are ideal for friends or family traveling together!
The gas fireplace fills the room with warmth- beckoning you to curl up on the chairs and read or share a glass of wine on those cold winter nights.
After time out and about (or a day spent to yourself inside:), treat yourself to a whirlpool bath (single-person tub) because you deserve it!
During your stay, you will have a mini fridge for your perishables and a Keurig for your morning cuppa.

Several last-of-its-kind treasures call Mystic their home.
The Mystic Seaport is a must-see while you are here! It is home to five National Historic Landmark vessels: Charles W. Morgan- the last whaling ship, Sabino Coal Steamer- last in regular operation in the U.S.; L.A. Dunton, Joseph Conrad, and the Emma C. Berry. Also, Mystic is home to Clyde's Cider Mill- the oldest steam power cider mill in the U.S.
There's something special about this little town- Mystic is a one-of-a-kind place!

My husband and I live in Mystic, a 5-minute drive from the 1784 Denison Home. Even though you are set up for self-check-in, you may see one of us around watering plants, taking out trash bins, etc. But rest assured, we are harmless and will respect your space and privacy. If you seek answers, would like suggestions, or even meet us, we are here for you and delight in sharing this lovely little village with visitors! We are always available by phone or text, so please reach out if you need anything!
Other things to note
We also have guests who stay in our front red property, the 1784 Denison Home. Please park in front of the Carriage House property, and our other guests park behind the Denison Home.

A once devoted full-time mother, I’ve now embarked on a fresh voyage – opening the doors of our storied properties to kindred spirits from near and distant shores.
Our shared passion is uncovering historic gems, whether preserving the essence of our own vacation homes or seeking solace in other historic havens during our travels.
Our hearts are firmly anchored in the past, and we enjoy bringing guests along with us when they stay at one of our Mystic homes.

Why they chose this property
My husband and I have always loved this property, which was once the Old Mystic Inn. Owning this beautiful it has been a dream come true! Some may wonder why we bought another home in our hometown. I guess it's a testament to how much we love the area!
Nestled in the heart of Old Mystic, the original settlement, our location is steeped in the quaintness and rich history that only this part of Mystic can offer. It's our cherished escape from the everyday hustle, providing a tranquil haven that whispers stories of the past.
Perfectly positioned, it allows effortless exploration of local attractions and offers a serene retreat from the lively buzz of downtown Mystic.
We fell in love with this neighborhood for its timeless charm and the sense of community that invites you to slow down and savor the moments. Our guests find it to be a perfect backdrop for making lasting memories, where the peaceful surroundings and scenic beauty enhance every experience.
Whether you're returning from a day of adventure or seeking a quiet corner to unwind and relax in your private guest room for the day, we believe you'll be quite happy~ even just hanging out reading, relaxing, or watching a movie. Old Mystic is a place where every moment becomes a treasure :-)
