Coming home

My two daughters and their families (spouses and 7 kids) stayed for a week in this lovely place. The upstairs bedrooms were accessible from two staircases, and made a natural divide between families, with each reaching their spaces via a different staircase. The pond was a great hit with the kids (ages 2 to 10 years old) and the dog. We used the spacious grill to make s'mores on multiple nights. Both daughters grew up in the Upper Valley, and visited all their favorite restaurants, plus discovered new fun places to take the kids swimming. It was a great week for everyone.

Thank you for a great stay!

The house was absolutely lovely. My partner and I had our mirco wedding here and it was the perfect spot for it. Our friends and family enjoyed the game barn, pond and hot tub.

Really great place for a group

This huge property was perfect for our group of friends. We swam, played in the barn, and enjoyed the massive lawn for sports and games. There were plenty of beds and bathrooms for all of us. The dining room was big enough for all of us to sit at the table and there were two working refrigerators for all the food and beverages we needed. After reading other review I was concerned about road noise and out of order bathrooms but those weren't an issue at all. The front porch can be noisy with traffic but everywhere else is nice and quiet. The bathrooms all work well, sometimes you have to flush twice. Overall it was an excellent, humongous space and was a great value for what we paid.

Overall not bad

The bedroom layout is not very convenient. The game room was very dusty and outdated. Even though it was so hot the days we stayed we couldn't go in the pond because it was so dirty. The property itself is very nice and big.

Wonderful house & gorgeous property

I rented this property to celebrate my birthday with 10 other adults. The house itself is tastefully decorated, roomy and comfortable. We never felt like we were on top of each other. The living rooom with a fireplace is an especially nice gathering spot to relax. The dining room is large and quite beautiful. It served very well one evening as I had a catered event and the caterers were very easily able to maneuver and serve among the guests with no crowding issues. There are also 3 1/2 bathrooms which is a huge plus. The bedrooms are very well appointed (as are the bathrooms) so you feel that you have privacy and are not on top of other guests. The barn with a few recreational games is a stone throws away from the house. Behind that you wlll discover beautiful sprawling VT land with a pretty pond, a babbling brook and an outside room with a grill. The area is surrounded by trees and I can imagine in the late spring, summer and fall it must be quite stunning. We were there early April but you could still appreciate the beauty. There are plenty of actvities nearby. We broke up into groups ...some people went sking at Killington, some hiked nearby trails, and some of us went into downtown Woodstock to explore the shops etc. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this property and will carry great memories of our time spent there.

Great outdoor space. Some issues inside

The outdoor space at this property is just lovely! Beautiful and spacious lawn, screened area that would be nice for picnic in the summer, great space for flying kites and grandkids to run around. The living room is cozy and comfortable. Huge dining room table and eat-in kitchen. Dishwasher is a bit of a problem. Was completely broken when we stayed - apparently the repair person did not succeed in fixing it before our arrival. Unfortunately it is also positioned in a space where the door cannot fully open so the bottom rack can't really be pulled out and loaded in any reasonable way that I could see. If you're not eating in much that may not be a concern. Downstairs master bedroom and bathroom are in good shape. Upstairs bathrooms are not in great shape; drainage issues, cracked floor tiles, shower stall in really bad shape. Owner said he will be replacing the shower stall next week so that will be an improvement. The hot tub is not in the best of shape (not as pictured), was only partially filled when we arrived and had dirt in it. The owner did send someone to fill it with a hose but it was not in a condition that I would want to use. We knocked into a wall hanging which fell and broke - informed owner, we have been billed and are happy to reimburse for replacement and rehang. Asked for but did not receive any compensation for the issues with dishwasher, hot tub, showers. Owner quite angry that we are leaving an honest review so that interaction has not been pleasant.

Extra charged with unacceptable reasons

There was an initial cleaning fee for this trip. We clearly left the place in good satisfactory manner and didn't trash the place as they indicated after the trip and gave us with an extra cleaning fee. "Cleaning fee", is an extra charge that is added to the total booking and cannot be returned after the booking concludes. The cleaning fees helps hosts accounts for the expenses required to clean and prepare their next rentals for their next guests. The condition of the house was quite poor. The doors wouldn't close properly or any sound insulation causing to hear others while sleeping which was quite annoying. The insulation in the bedroom adjacent to the kitchen was an icebox even with the little heater they provided. The toilet in another room wouldn't flush properly leaving too much residue for a 2nd flush needed. The electricity had not enough AMPs as it shut down the house dining room lights while we were dining a hot meal dinner which caused some of the kids to nearly walked into the HOT soup we prepared. And the most important thing that happened was the ceiling on the kitchen dining round table which was leaking lots of bath water which ruined all the prepared food for our Christmas holiday festivities. These incidents were recorded and reported to the owner/host of the defects of this house with no resolution. This is to name a few of the unpleasant stay. On top of that, the owners decide to charge us a stained rug to replace which surprised us without any proof. And we knew there were no such incident. Rugs can be shampooed and washed without being replaced. less$$. Unless it's an irreversible stain that was left there from a very long time ago. So, to sum this up, our group of friends and family will, "NOT" recommend this horrible stay to anyone. If you do, please bring your cameras and start taking pictures of every little specs of this house before and after your stay.

Easy check in and great WiFi. Host was quick on replying to all texts when we had them. We stayed in mid July and the temps were fine. The AC was sufficient, but upstairs we did need to use the fans and window units. If you will have more than 15 staying and intend on using the kitchen, make sure to bring enough plastic ware for eating. Since you are basically out in the middle of nowhere, make sure to either have everything you need food wise or count on driving back and forth to either Woodstock or Killington to restaurants and grocery stores. There are a couple within walking distance though from the house. The pond was enjoyable for the kids and dogs to play around in when needed.

Ski weekend near Killington

The house is huge and has plenty of room for a big group. We stayed there for a ski weekend. Lots to like, but the house is older so you can hear just about everything going on from any room of the house, and since the house is old, the heat was either too hot to be comfortable or non existent in certain rooms. Pots/pans and knives in the kitchen could be replaced, not ideal if you’re trying to cook a meal for 10 people. The property manager was super quick to respond when we had questions and when we got hit with a big snow storm, we were plowed out in no time at all. Proximity to Killington was great, and not far from other gems. I bet this place is nice in the summer when you can take advantage of the yard and not need to rely on heat. Having to strip our own sheets before leaving is weird since there is a cleaning fee.One major con: they don’t provide any towels. For the price you pay, towels should be included.
