About this property

Wilderness Getaway

Majestic Mountains, rivers, a pond and abundant wildlife are just a few things that await you at Fisher River Retreat. A wonderful secluded 2 story lodge is set in a wooded area. The lodge includes 2 bedrooms downstairs, with 2 queen beds in one bedroom and 2 twin beds in the other. There is a bathroom downstairs with a shower/tub combination. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, one with 2 twin beds and the other master bedroom with a single queen bed. The master bedroom has a private balcony. There is a bathroom upstairs with a full shower. The lodge will easily sleep 10 people. The beds have full linens, blankets and pillows. The kitchen is located downstairs and is fully stocked complete with electric stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and all utensils, plates and cups. The upstairs loft over looks the dining room and living room downstairs. A fire ring is setup nearby with a cooking grate and utensils should you desire to cook outdoors over a fire. The lodge is a short walk down to the Fisher River.

Just a note about the property - we have another rental cabin on the same property that could be rented by a different party. We ask you to keep this in mind and respect each other.

Also, there are some "security" cameras on the outside of the lodge looking in various directions (5 cameras). These cameras do record video when motion is detected. The recordings are overwritten after a period of time. The only time the recordings are reviewed is if there are unwelcomed visitors to the property (burglars, vandals and such) or while we are there watching wildlife on them.

Great house and property.

Great place for our family to visit our hometown. We had children from 3-12 years old and they all loved the walk down to the creek and had lots of fun and room to roam

Bear Lodge

Exceptionally great place with plenty of room for my family. We very much enjoyed the lodge and the surrounding area. It was nice being isolated and we enjoyed the woods and the Fisher River.

A True Retreat

A great place to getaway from everything—traffic, neighbors, work, technology…a true opportunity to unplug and “hard reset” yourself. This was our family’s second summer retreat here and we love it even more!

Amazing Property to be in Nature

If you're looking for the "Montana Experience" without the camping, sleeping bags, and such this is the location for you. Unplug (mostly) from the outside world and enjoy this beautiful corner of Montana and all the peace and quiet that ypu can soak up. The hosts are amazing, the cabin is absolutely beautiful, and the property is secluded but is adjacent to some beautiful parts of the state.

Attractive, comfortable refuge in the woods

This is fairly new lodge in the woods with four bedrooms and actual beds for 10 people (so often some of the beds include a sofa bed in the living room and a futon couch in a basement...) Close to US Rt 2 in valley with mountains all around. We were there for a family wedding in Libby, the closet town about 25 miles away. It is most suitable for people who want to hike and hunt and fish in the area. It is a two minute walk from the Fisher River, which is lovely and very shallow at that point. For our purposes we missed having an iron and a hair dryer. One bedroom has a closet, the others have dressers instead with hooks on the wall. All fine for casual clothing. Very attractive décor with many many bears, which worked for me as I collect bear ornaments! Good kitchen with plenty of dishes and cooking utensils. Vegetable drawers in fridge could have used a washing but otherwise everything very clean. Ice maker in freezer. Really appreciated the extra towels and washer and dryer as we were there ten nights. Very nice fire pit which we used for s'mores the first night but then the fire restrictions were upped to stage 2 so were gave up the idea of grilling food or hanging out around a fire. Internet very poor during most of the day. Early morning (before 8) and late evening best for email and browsing. Some internet-based cell phone use but no regular cell service. We all felt kind of sad leaving and hope to return.

A true outdoor getaway

If you are tired of neighbors, traffic, work, and just the general annoyances of suburban living, this is the place for you. This cabin affords privacy, silence, and the tranquility of a crystal clear river which our family adored. It is remote and in the woods, so be prepared for long drives for supplies and dealing with thirsty bugs. Despite being remote, the cabin has all the comforts of home (less AC), and once you're there, you won't want to leave. Great hub for outdoor adventures including hiking the Cabinet Wilderness or fishing.

Absolutely perfect!

Home was beautiful the property and river was beautiful. Owner was outstanding to work with and would recommend this place to anyone. Saw lots of wildlife right in the yard and a black bear crossed the road in front of us about a mile from the cabin. Would give ten stars if it were possible.

Beautiful home/lodge.

The property is beautiful and well maintained. We were very comfortable and enjoyed all the wildlife. I would have appreciated some instructions on how to work the ceiling fan.

Great Hideaway

This is a great lodge tucked away from the road and neighbors. Great trail to a river behind the lodge. Perfect for dogs. Lots of parking space. Lodge had lots of room and stayed cool in 100 plus weather. Loved that owners kept personal items to a minimum.

Great place. Our only complaint is that ALL the dishes in the cupboard were put in dirty. We had to wash all the dishes before we could use them.

Great stay in a quiet location.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The cabin was very nice and well appointed. Northwestern Montana is a stunningly beautiful place and the cabin's location between Libby and Whitefish worked well for us. We also enjoyed watching the resident bunnies and deer. John was very helpful and easy to communicate with. We look forward to renting here in the future.

Pictures do not do it justice

My entire family spent the week at this absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean, spacious house. There was plenty of room for all 9 of us, especially with the fire ring outside. There is a beautiful stream in the back through the woods - perfect for river walking, reading, fishing and rock skipping. The Wi-Fi is a bit rough. There are tons of beautiful hikes around and it's about a 30 min drive to downtown Libby (which has a great brewery) We loved our time here.

A Wonderful Place!

We loved it! I cleaned all the flies out of the windowsills and we were out of electricity for a while during a storm but a kind neighbor brought over a generator and overall we absolutely loved our stay there! We would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you so much for a welcome retreat! Well stocked and beautifully furished.

Modern yet rustic; the bear lodge was outstanding. Clean, comfortable, and charming,

A fabulous cabin in a beautiful semi secluded area, we could not have been more pleased with our stay. (9) adults shared the lodge for (6) nights. Every convenience was at our fingertips and all of our needs were anticipated and met without exception. John was a perfect host.

Exactly what we hoped for.

The Bear Lodge is a beautifully furnished, clean, comfortable home. Upon arrival we felt right at home. The four bedrooms provide privacy and comfortable sleeping. Unlimited dvd movies, fire pits (great when the local fire danger is low), gas fireplace, comfortable and new furniture, completely stocked kitchen, porch, great yard for games, and a short little stroll to the beautiful Fisher River. Fish were caught, games were played, and lots of fun time sitting in the living room visiting with friends. Thank you!
